3 CHAPTER 03 : US

Charlotte's POV

I poured a glass of warm water and prepared a chocolate cake. I had put up the 'closed' sign to avoid rush hour. Chloe was sitting by the table that was placed right in front of the counter, starring into the thin air with puffy eyes.

Poor Chloe...

I placed all the things on the tray, including a bunch of tissues, and walked up to her. She didn't even look my way though I got her favourite cake.

"Chloe", I called.

"Lotie, I'm such a useless human being, aren't I?"

"What? Who said that?"

"I'm the one that should be angry then he should be sorry, but why on the contrary he's the one that got tensed up? And I let him humiliated me when he's the one that plays dirty?", Chloe started sobbing again.

"I—", she sobbed, "I have dated for 20 times but why do I have to go through these 20 heartbreaks?", she snatched the tissue that I was trying to hand it to her and blew her nose hard, "Boys are jerk"

I should have opposed it when she introduced his boyfriend. My gut feeling had told me that he's a strange guy. I mean they only met for a week and they're already dating? Should have trusted my gut feeling more.

I patted her, "Don't date anymore for the meantime"

"I won't!"

"I hope you don't bring any boys the very next week"

"Lotie!", she cried

"Should I play 'After The Heartbreak'?"

"I'm just going to eat this", she quickly stuffed her mouth with a spoonful of chocolate cake.

My dearly best friend. Someone said that you've succeeded in life when you found a friend that truly values you and act as who they actually are around you. Could I say that I have accomplished this?

"By the way, Lotie", I hummed to her call, "That guy.."

"Who?'

"The one that pulls that jerk away", Chloe had her smirk, "Who's that guy? Your significant other? Hmm? Hmm?"

This girl, a second she was crying till her eyes out, then smirking for I don't even know why!

"I barely know him"

"But he said he'll come back"

"Because I haven't served his order"

"He didn't ask for a refund?"

"Could that situation make him ask for a refund?"

Chloe put her fingers on her chin, "My love gut says that something is off"

"Is it a reminder that I should stay away from him?"

Chloe shook her head, "You should know him more"

"For my cheesecake sake, anyone but not that rude guy!"

"Eyy, don't give me that 'I-don't-like' face when in the end you'll give me a lovey-dovey smile", Chloe had the biggest grin plastered on her face, "Most of the people experience that"

"Not even a single chance"

"You will"

"I won't"

"I know you will"

No words were out. I will never win her and it's been like this since we met. Ah! Those childhood memories came back.

"Lotie"

My daydream was cut off by a sudden soft-spoken voice.

"Thanks a lot", Chloe looked at me with a faint smile, "For trying to cheer me up"

"Chloe.."

"Thanks for being with me and supporting me and even cheering me up whenever I went through a heartbreak", Chloe held the glass with both of her hands.

We rarely talked about something like this, it felt weird when suddenly got into this kind of conversation, "Chloe, what's with the serious atmosphere?", I asked awkwardly.

"Oh, Lotie, without you I wouldn't manage to go through all those terrible heartbreaks", Chloe said, "You know that I love you dearly, right?"

"Yes, my sweetheart Chloe, that's why..", I poked her head, "I told you to stop dating just any random guys! Listen to this dear friend of yours, please"

"Aww, Lotie, you completely ruined the mood!", Chloe grumbled while rubbing her reddened forehead, "You can't just ask me to stop loving someone"

"I mean stop hitting on random handsome and cute guys you see, not all good-looking guys have a good-looking personality!", I scolded.

"Alright, alright! Jeez, you're ranting like my mom already", Chloe blocked both of her ears, "But, that just shows how much care you pour into me"

"Please, stop those cheesy things, won't you? It doesn't suit you at all!", I said firmly, trying real hard from being cringed.

"Aww, look at my Lotie being embarrass", she gave me a goofy smile, "By the way, that guy from the previous.."

"I literally just said to stop hitting on random guys!"

"Aye, aye, Ma'am! Won't do the same thing again!", Chloe ate up the last bite of the cake, "Honestly saying, Raynold is such a good person, I just don't know why he suddenly changed"

"First impression, yes he's nice, but people change"

Chloe shook her head, "No, there's something weird! He was okay until one night, while on our date, he abruptly got a call from an anonymous number", Chloe seemed to try to recall the event, "He went pale after picking up the phone then he drove me straight back home. Since then his behaviour changed"

Now, this is weird. Judging from what he did just now was actually enough to accuse him of being a jerk. But, listening to the sudden change of behaviour that Chloe was telling, seemed like something had been going on.

Although my gut feeling telling me that he's weird, he had been treating Chloe so well that I even couldn't sense any abnormal things going on between them.

He went pale when he saw something from the previous rude guy. What exactly are their relationships?

"Anyway, Lotie...", Chloe looked at me seriously while holding a plate, "Can I have a slice of chocolate cake, again?"

"I'll put in on the bill", I stood up and walked to the counter.

"Okay!"

Third person's POV

"Argh!", a man was slammed onto the floor.

"Look what we got here", a guy with his semi-long hair tied into a small ponytail walked up to the half-beaten male that was lying down on the floor, miserably.

"I found him near the college", the guy that brought him spoke up.

"What happens to your little cute face, I hope it's not our little brother who did this", the previous guy held his chin up, moving it left to right.

"Stop it, Aiden, don't touch him, he must be feeling so hurt and weak right now", another guy that was sitting by the desk in his suit said, stopping Aiden from moving his hand.

He stood and walked up to the male that was laying down unconscious.
