2 CHAPTER 02 : THE HEROINE?

Third person's POV

It was such a sunny day. Just like usual, the cafe will get busier when it hit noon. Just a few minutes before the sun reached its top, Charlotte was sitting by her counter and wondering plus mumbling things.

"Indeed, all men do is lie", she mumbled out loud.

Without her conscience, a man with his black hair styled down in his casual clothes hiding his slightly broad shoulder, with rounded glasses hanged upon his pointed nose, and a laptop on his right hand, standing up straight and looking at Charlotte directly.

He had been standing there for a couple of minutes while Charlotte was in her deep thought. He surely did hear Charlotte's mumbling.

"But girls love lies"

He responded to it which made him startled a little, he had never said out loud what's in his mind.

"Pardon me, girls hate that the most", the girl that had been spacing out, snapped at his reply, "What do you know, mister?"

Feeling offended a bit, the guy shrugged, "You looked lovely"

"H-huh?!"

Charlotte's POV

Shocked? Yes!

I rarely receive compliments about my look, this guy caught me off-guard. I mean, praising a girl that he barely knows is a little bit creepy, but it's not like I dislike it. It's just...

"See, girls love lies, especially beautiful lies"

"What do you—"

"Being red just by that comment"

"You little—", argh! I almost cursed.

Calm down, Charlotte. This person is a customer and the customer is the king. Give the best service and your business will be doing okay.

Just breath in and breath out.

I gave out my business smile, "So, what would you like to have, sir?"

"Iced Americano", he said shortly.

I typed on the machine, "Is there anything you would like to have with your drink?"

He looked slightly at the bar beside, "Cinnamon Roll"

"Is there anything else you would like to have?"

He shrugged.

"Would you like to dine—"

"I'll have it here", he snapped.

What a nice person, huh?

He paid after I gave him the receipt, "Your order will be done in 10 minutes", I gave him the best business smile, "Have a nice day"

With that, I watched him left towards his seat.

"Beautiful lies his head", I grumbled, "What kind of lie is he talking about—"

That's when I get it.

"Is he saying that I'm unattractive? For cheesecake sake, I should have cursed him! Who does he think he is? Not so attractive guy", I kept on grumbling while slightly looked in his direction, "Well, he does look a little much more attractive. But still—"

"Somebody stops him!"

"Huh?"

"He is beating up the girl", some customers went out of the cafe.

"What?", I was dumbfounded.

I quickly took my apron off and went put as well.

I stood by the door and looked at the crowd. I saw a guy with a girl clinging on his hand, trying to hit someone that was particularly sat on the ground, with water drops falling from her hair and clothes—basically she's wet.

The guy then squatted down to match with the girl's position and...

PLAK

A slap was released by the guy.

This guy has no manner at all.

He then held the girl's chin up and her face was shown...

"Chloe?!!", I exclaimed in shock. The distance between us was pretty far.

"This is unforgivable, hitting a girl?!", I stomped towards them. But, these people just won't give space for me to walk.

What are they even doing? Watching a girl being beaten up? The guy was about to slap her again.

"For muffin sake, don't you dare slapping her!", I tried to shout and pushed people out of the way. But, as if he had earplugs on, he didn't listen to me.

I met Chloe's eyes, it's been so long since I saw her crying. Who does he think he is for making her cry, huh?

I managed to get to them when I expected this guy to already slap her. But it did not. Someone was stopping his hand from swaying.

"Raynold Adams, I believe you have an appointment with me", the guy, yeah that rude guy who was being rude earlier, pulled him up and looked straight into his eyes.

"Chloe!", I immediately hugged her, "Any bruises? What else did he do to you? Should I give him a punch?"

Without saying anything, she buried her head on the crook of my neck and sobbed. I looked at the two males that had their tense risen up.

That Raynold, that little unresentful human being, I should have you tasted my karate for hurting my bestie, I should have known that he's not a good guy.

"Who the heck are you?", Raynold's face expressed in fully anger, "Let off my hand"

The rude guy—that I don't even know his name—was still holding his arms and stood straight, back facing us. He looked extremely tall and I just noticed how wide his shoulders were.

"Argh", Raynold cried in pain, "Who the heck are you? I don't recall having any appointments", I bet this rude guy tightening his grip.

"Then you must have rejected, or should I say...ignore the invitation that was sent to you two days ago", his voice tone got colder, his voice tone was indeed cold since the beginning, but this time I could feel the chills.

"Who exactly are you?", Raynold asked again.

From the back, I saw his hand going toward his right shoulder and moved his sweatshirt a bit.

I'm not sure what's he showing but Raynold's face went pale as if he saw a ghost.

"Now, that you have known, it's time to deal with you. This kind of attitude is intolerable", he said, "You had better follow me now"

He abruptly looked back, towards us, "I haven't had my coffee and bread, I'm going to come back someday", with that he left.

Raynold had his face down and trembled. Following behind his steps as he walked away. The girl that was with Raynold had long gone to don't know where and the crowd started to dismiss themselves. Some stayed and just watched us while Chloe...wait she's asleep?!

To be honest, the passer-by pissed me off.

"Hey! Why don't you guys help us instead of just watching? We ain't an actress that's shooting a serial drama!"
