31 Training (6)

" What the heck! It may be nothing to you but this thing could kill me!"

Layla Palmer now knew that Lucas did not put this creature in his eyes and was not planning on intervening at all. The creature was 2 meters in front of her and then it was a meter in front of her.

Suddenly everything became slow motion. Layla Palmer could smell the blood on the snout of the Parashwein. She could feel the tremors of its movements even better.

" Am I going to die here? Yeah usually in your last moments its said that time slows down because your brain goes into hyperdrive. I guess this is the end." Layla Palmer thought.

" No! I can't think like that! Obviously, Lucas isn't going to save me so I must save myself! I must live! If I die here my memory of my family dies with me. My Father dies with me. I can't let that happen!" Layla Palmer thought.

Just as the creature was about to ram into Layla Palmer she did a dive roll avoiding the attack of the Parashwein. This was another move Lucas had taught her in her Warrior training. She quickly got up. The Parashwein noticed that it missed Layla Palmer so it stopped charging, its feet skid across the ground. It turned around again and charged at Layla Palmer.

Layla Palmer dodged away again with a dive roll. But when she got up she saw it was charging at her again. She soon realized that this cycle would continue until one of them lost stamina. That would most likely be her for this beast looked far too strong. Also the timing she needed to dive roll needed to be excellent. If she dove too early the Parashwein could still move its mouth and have its tusks pierce her. And of course if too late she gets rammed by a pig.

She realized that she had to do something about the situation and quickly. For this stress was mentally taxing. She thought and thought but each time her plans would be thwarted by one simple thing. Absolute defence. She couldn't even injure it unprepared how was she going to take it out prepared? Her heart sank in again. But she quickly cheered herself up and got her resolve back. She didn't lose hope and began thinking again.

Just as she dove away from the Parashwein for the fourth time it occurred to her that not all of the Parashwein was thick with skin. Its eyes were still weak. If she could send her arcane arrows into the eyes and then into the brain maybe she could kill it. When she thought of this a smile came upon her face. As the Parashwein came charging at her she was prepping her mana. Afterwards, she dove for the fifth time. However, this dive was exhausting! It was not just that she was multitasking but rather that she now had hope and this made the weight of every movement she made more mentally taxing. Soon the arrows appeared above her and she dove away again.

When she dove away she quickly stood up again. When she got up a wave of dizziness hit her. She almost passed out but she fought it and she managed to regain consciousness. She now knew that was all she had. She could not dodge another time. She had to fire these arcane rays. It was all or nothing. She added the final spin to the three arcane arrows and with everything she had she sent them to the eyes of the charging Parashwein. The spinning arcane arrows moved through the air.

The Parashwein scoffed at the arrows by snorting. It knew how little damage it did to it. Eventually, they spinning arcane arrows made contact with the Parashwein. Two arrows had hit its mark and the other one had hit between the brows. The arrows pierced through the tissue of the eyes. The pig shrieked and stopped charging. It was going ballistic as it rolled on the ground as the blood flowed out its eyes. With the pig rolling on the ground it made it impossible for Layla Palmer to follow up.

She couldn't anyways as she fell with one knee to the ground. She watched how the pig shrieked and screamed. She was getting scared for what if other creatures heard this. She could not take more of them on. She was uncertain if she had killed this one in front of her. Soon the pig stopped shrieking as it laid on the ground still. A wave of comfort came across her face. She was still on one knee breathing heavily but with a wide smile. She felt good that she did not give up hope and that she continued to fight for her life. She also felt a sense of accomplishment because a plan she had come up with in a very stressful environment succeeded.

At least that's what she hoped for. Suddenly the Parashwein stood up again and charged at Layla Palmer. It was a lot slower than before. However, to someone who couldn't move at all, it was fast enough. Layla Palmer watched the Parashwein charge at her and she clenched her hand over her heart. She was not scared this time. She knew she had done everything in her power to kill the creature. She felt that it would be a disgrace to herself if she cowered in death after she had given her all. She looked at the charging beast, intent on seeing it through instead of closing her eyes. The beast knew where she was through a sense of smell. Soon the beast was 1 meter away from her.

Layla Palmer thought," Goodbye world." The beast was now right in front of her and it dropped its head and then tried to ram into her. But to its surprise, it ran right into a wall. The creature started shrieking again as it rolled on the ground.

Layla Palmer was surprised she didn't die. She stretched out her hand and felt there really was a wall in front of her. She knew this was not her so she looked to where Lucas was and saw that he was standing with his right arm stretched out. So clearly he summoned the wall to protect her. Layla Palmer sighed with relief, emptying her lungs.

The Parashwein continued to shriek as it rolled on the ground. But it's shriek was different this time. It was as if it was full of humiliation. Which made sense. It ran straight into a wall. It thought it was going to kill then eat the human that disturbed it's meal time instead it got a mouth full of its own blood. The Parashwein couldn't see but it could smell. So it smelt Layla Palmer but it couldn't smell a wall. How embarrassing.

The shriek of the Paraswhein got louder and louder. This surprised Lucas. Lucas thought that due to the damage Layla Palmer caused when it hit it head into a wall it would die immediately. But here the Parashwein was shrieking but it was getting louder by the moment. Clearly, it still had energy and was not going to die soon.

Lucas quickly used his: < Starting Control Fire Dragon's Leap> and closed the distance between him and Layla. Lucas came out of the speed burst flailing his arms to regain balance but he did not tumble. He quickly grabbed Layla and picked her up he then walked 10 meters ahead. He put her down and then returned.

Lucas was curious about this creature. For when he first saw it in brackets after the name the words " pending" was there. These words were now flashing fast like a strobe light. While it was flickering the Parashwein was screaming. It was then that Lucas realized that pending meant that it was close or able to evolve. Lucas had seen the evolution of the goblin to a hobgoblin so he knew the process of evolution. He still had one of those blood pills in his treasure chest.

Lucas knew that if this level 13 Parashwein was allowed to evolve it could get troublesome really quickly. Immediately Lucas opened his attribute stats and put all 18 SP into intelligence. He was not going to take any chances with this he had to kill it now!
