30 Training (5)

" How was that perfect? If the move is to make the enemy pity you then you have got it down perfectly. Yet you still called yourself a genius. How shameless!" Layla Palmer thought, shaking her head in disapproval.

" Okay let's do that again," Lucas said facing the opposite direction as he first did when he launched: < Fire Dragon's Leap>. Lucas got back into the starting control leap stance. He repeated what he had to do and once again he launched leaving a scorch mark on the ground. Once again it felt like he was fast forwarding a movie 100 times faster. Inevitably, he lost his footing and began tumbling on the ground. But he made it further than last time before his tumble. Lucas got up dusted himself off and got back into position and did it again and again and again.

After the fourth try, Layla Palmer decided she would rather see the end product because she did not have a second to spare if strength is what she required. So a few hours later Layla Palmer completed her training. Lucas was still dashing around. This time he wasn't rolling on the ground as if he had an atonic seizure while running. However, when he came out the speed burst he was flailing his arms trying to gain his balance back.

" Lucas, I'm done with my training? Can we go hunt for dinner?" Layla Palmer asked.

When Lucas heard her speak. His mind exited his focused state as he tried to regain his balance he then said, " Sure."

When Lucas gave the okay. Layla Palmer walked to Lucas who was waiting by the perimeter of the safe zone. Afterwards, they both walked out together. There was absolute silence between the two of them. No one said a word, but it was not awkward. Layla Palmer wanted to ask him about the move he was practising but it seemed even he did not have a handle on it she decided not to. Soon they exited the beginner's section and began walking beyond that.

"Activate combat mode," Lucas thought.

[ Combat mode Activated. 10 minutes remaining until subtraction.]

Lucas looked around for a suitable creature. Layla Palmer took out a level 10 creature much to easy and that was not going to help her. Lucas looked and he saw a level 13 creature in the distance. This was perfect. It was a level lower than him so Lucas could destroy it without a problem but it was 2 levels above Layla Palmer so it would prove difficult to her.

So Lucas and Layla Palmer walked towards the creature. They were now 20 meters away. Lucas looked at the name of the creature and saw that it was called a Parashwein. It had an appearance similar to a pig but its skin was a brownish-red. In its mouth were two long tusks that curved upwards. Its eyes were completely black. Currently, this creature was eating another creature. The creature was still alive as the Parashwein ripped the flesh from its abdomen.

Lucas looked at Layla and said. " That right there is your new target. It is currently eating another creature so presumably, it had just been in fight meaning it could be fatigued... As well as its guard might me down now that it is eating."

Layla Palmer looked at the ferocious beast eating another beast and then gulped a mouthful of air as then said, " Okay."

She thought, " If I don't do this properly that next creature to be eaten is me."Just as she was about to think of a strategy Lucas said, " Oh and you not allowed to use Ice Chamber."

" What! No ways how am I going to kill the creature if I can't restrict its movements?"

" Not my problem," Lucas said.

" Ughhh!" Layla Palmer voiced her discontent clearly.

Looking at the creature Layla Palmer instinctively sensed it was stronger than her yet Lucas still went and nerfed her ace move. Soon she got over it and decided to focus on the current task. This time Layla Palmer wanted to do a check up on the Parashwein before she attacked it. She looked at the beast and saw how thick the hide looked. Also, the legs were big and strong so it could be a power runner. She saw its sharp teeth so clearly she needed to avoid being bitten at all costs.

She also realized her invisibility spell wouldn't work perfectly either judging by the size of its snout. She assumed that it could probably smell her but now it had its nose in meat with blood all over. This was masking her and Lucas's smell. After analysis, she realized that her warrior training proved ineffective in this scenario as she needed to be as far away from the creature as possible.

In the end, her best plan was to use arcane ray and try to injure it from a distance and then kill it by firing the arcane rays at it. It wasn't much of a plan but she did not know what else to do. She thought, " Oh well if push comes to shove Lucas is here to save me."

Layla Palmer began prepping her mana. Afterwards, she created 6 arcane spinning arrows. She could now make one more at once. She walked to about 10 meters away from the beast and then released the arrows. This time she never aimed for the head but rather the body as it was a bigger target. She wanted to make sure she wounded it badly. Afterwards, she could pick it off.

The arrows raced in the air as they sped towards the Parashwein. The Parashwein was still fixated in its meal so it did not notice the incoming arrows. Soon the arrows hit the Parshwein piercing the tough hide of the pig and then they disappeared. The blood was flowing out of the Parashwein but the wounds were not life-threatening at all. They Parashwein shrieked so loud it almost burst her eardrums. The Parashwein looked at Layla Palmer with resentment. It then left it's meal and began charging at Layla Palmer. The creature being fed upon was to weak to move.

Layla Palmer was panicking now. She had just used her best move on an unprepared creature yet she still couldn't injure it enough. How was she going to take on the beast that was charging at her?

Suddenly a wave of comfort came over despite the charging Parashwein. When she thought of Lucas. Then she looked towards Lucas to see what he was going to do about the Parashwein. But to her surprise, Lucas was just standing there. He did not move a muscle.

" Is he not going to help me? Didn't he say he would help me!? Now kinda seems like the time to help me!" Layla Palmer thought.

The beast was now 5 meters away from her yet Lucas still stood still. Its face was devoid of any compassion and full of anger. It was clear the Parashwein wanted to rip her apart. As the Parashwein charged at her the ground was shaking and large thumping sounds could be heard.

When it was three meters away again she looked at Lucas but to no avail. He was still standing in place and didn't look concerned at all. He was looking at the Parashwein so he clearly saw it but he didn't seem to see it as a threat.

" What the heck! It may be nothing to you but this thing could kill me!"
