29 Training (4)

The next morning Lucas woke up and started cooking yesterday's meat. Layla Palmer woke up shortly after when she smelt the food. They then ate breakfast followed by a jog around the beginning section of the forest.

" Your Mage And Warrior training have come along very nicely," said Lucas while tapping her on her shoulder.

" Thanks, I have put in a lot of effort it really is comforting to see how far I have come."

" You are only going to get better. When you choose which academy you want to go to, your growth speed will expand drastically, because of better teachers and you will be focusing on one class, not two."

" Yeah, it has really been tough to train both."

" It's only going to get harder. For today's Warrior training I'm going to teach you how to infuse your mana into your punches and kicks to make them stronger."

Truthfully Lucas himself had no idea how to do it. This was merely conjecture. But how else did Warriors exert superhuman strength? It couldn't just be the work of their physique. Lucas was confident in his ability to master the skill because his mana control was brilliant.

" First complete your Mage training for the day."

" Okay."

Lucas was curious about the warrior path. He knew his class is a mage. But it wouldn't hurt to know a bit about how Warriors operate. Not only that but if he could maybe even use some of the warrior's skills it could prove to be life-saving. Like in a fight when warriors and assassins dash at him he could use a skill like flash step to get out of range. Lucas suddenly remembered the one time he opened the ability shop there were options to select other classes.

So Lucas opened the ability shop and clicked on the warrior class. He typed in flash step afterwards he filtered all the skills to rank F. There he got a list of different types of flash steps. The first one was called:<Fire Dragon's Leap> this skill used the fire element to boost the speed and acceleration of the user. Another intriguing one was the :< Godly windstep> this used wind to cancel out air resistance as well as boost speed and acceleration.

Lucas was intrigued with: < Fire Dragons' Leap> for he already had: <Wind's Affection> if he could combine: < Fire Dragon's Leap> with < Wind's Affection> the skill could turn out to be really powerful. Lucas clicked on the F Rank < Fire Dragon's Leap> but something new popped up.

[ You are a Mage and about to make a purchase out of your class. Prices for skills outside of your class are more expensive. Also, an attribute check will be made before each purchase. Certain skills require certain attributes to accomplish and if you don't have the necessary stats. You cannot buy it. This is only imposed on skills outside of your class.]

Lucas wasn't surprised to hear that, for if he could buy skills outside of his class without any restraint he would be invincible. It was already quite op that he could use skills from another class. However, he wasn't actually sure about it. What if others could use skills from other classes too? What if the strength of the skills bought of his class is weak? Nonetheless, it was important to test it out.

After Lucas clicked on: < Fire Dragon's Leap> a screen popped up.

[The requirement for this skill.

Lucas immediately opened the attribute screen and put in one SP into his dexterity, to get the required amount of 30. Afterwards, he reopened the skills tab.

[Requirment for this skill.

Strength-20 ✔

Dexterity- 30 ✔

....

Your stats meet the requirement. Do you wish to use 100 AP to buy this skill? Y/N]

Lucas swallowed his spit when he saw the price for just an F Rank Warrior spell. How much would a rank E, D etc cost? But he knew he had to buy it. For one, so he could teach a warrior skill to Layla Palmer but more importantly as a skill to save his life. He had a teleportation skill but it didn't exactly fire in 0,1 seconds. In fact, the spell on average took 3 seconds. You would need to be a cat (1) if you wanted to escape within that time. So Lucas bought the skill.

Just like before all the information on how to use the skill Lucas used flooded into his mind. He now knew how to use the skill. He was super excited so he wanted to test it out immediately. Lucas had always seen this skill used in a lot of manga and anime. It was always cool to see the ground shattering as a blurry image moved at frightening speeds. What was even cooler was the sound of the sound barrier breaking if you were fast enough.

Lucas immediately got into one of the stances of the skill. This skill had many stances to use in different situations. Split into two types. First being control and the other was speed. The speed leap focused on pure speed so it was very hard, not impossible to fight/block while still in the burst of speed. The control leap sacrificed some speed for control. You still had a burst of speed but it was slower than if you focused on pure speed. However, using this allowed you to fight or defend yourself at full capacity if the situation required it. One of the stances was the starting speed or control leap. This leap was used as the initial dash when two warriors fought each other. Another stance was the retreating speed and control leap.

Lucas decided to practice the starting control leap. He was afraid he would injure himself if he went pure speed from the start. The first thing Lucas had to do was feel the ground. He had to imagine himself as one with the earth. He had to see himself as a perpendicular extension of the earth. Afterwards, Lucas had to run his mana into his entire body. He had to integrate the mana and infuse into his blood and muscles. Most of the mana needed to be in the feet and the legs. Afterwards, he had to envision himself splitting from the earth. It had to be like he was cutting ties with gravity and was about launch away like a rocket.

He would then thump his feet into the ground and launch off. Lucas followed the steps one by one. So Lucas thumped his feet into the ground and just like he envisioned he launched off leaving a scorch mark. Lucas was now in the speed burst that looked like a tunnel of lights passing by. Everything was going well until he lost his footing and went tumbling all over the ground. When the speed of his rolling decreased he stood up and dusted himself like nothing happened.

" That was perfect. I'm a genius," Lucas said.

Layla Palmer was observing Lucas from the second he got into his starting control leap position. She wondered what he was trying to do... She thought maybe it could be the warrior training Lucas was talking about so she decided to see how it looked. When Lucas thumped his foot into the ground he suddenly disappeared and she could not see him anymore she only saw a blurry afterimage. Layla Palmer exclaimed with excitement when she saw it happening she couldn't believe she was about to learn such an awesome skill. But moments later Lucas appeared meters ahead but he wasn't standing instead he was rolling at a high speed on the ground.

Layla Palmer realized Lucas had failed the move. She saw him rolling on the ground until he stopped and stood up. She then saw how he dusted himself off without a shred of embarrassment on his face. But what truly baffled her was what Lucas said afterwards. (" That was perfect. I'm a genius,").

" How was that perfect? If the move is to make the enemy pity you then you have got it down perfectly. Yet you still called yourself a genius. How shameless!" Layla Palmer thought, shaking her head in disapproval.

1. Cats are said to have 9 lives. So Lucas would need to have 9 lives to survive an attack from an assassin or warrior that dashed. While he was trying to escape via a teleportation spell.
