1 Never Live Alone

Somewhere in the woods, there was a small 2 story log cabin. There lived a man no older than 25 sleeping peacefully during that nights storm.

BOOM!

The man was suddenly awakened by a loud noise on his roof.

"Don't tell me that tree fell" the man wispered to himself.

Reluctantly getting out of his warm bed and stepping onto the cold floor below him, the man shivers. Grabbing his robe and walking through the silent house while listening the the sound of the storm, the man makes his way down stairs to his kitchen for a drink of water.

Tap, tap, tap.

He stops as he hears what he thought was light knocking on his front door.

"Hello?" the man says while walking towards the door.

Ring Ring!

The man jumps slightly in fright at the sound of his phone ringing.

"Who could be calling at this hour?"

The man thought to himself as he looked at the called I.D. 'Mom' the phone displayed. The man answers the phone already knowing why his mother is calling.

"Hey, Mom, how are you?" The man exclaimed.

"I'm fine, sweetie, but how are you? This storm is getting a bit harsh please stay safe, John." The mans mother replied.

"Mom, I'm fine it's just a bit of rain. Besides, I'm not leaving the house at this hour, It's way too late in the night." The man, now known as John, said to his mother with a slight smile on his face.

"Well alright, I won't keep you any longer but I love you and stay safe."

"I love you too."

They ended the conversation after that. Still feeling a bit parched, the man turned to go his kitchen however, he hears what he thought was a knocking at his door, again.

John signs just wanting to get back to bed. Swallows his grief of missing his bed, he looks through a window by his door. Two children are standing there bare foot with old clothes on.

Confused, John opens the door, keeping the screen door closed, to talk to the children.

"Hello there, where are your parents?" John asked the little girl that appears to be 8 years of age.

"We don't know," The little girl says in a soft voice.

The little boy, who seems to be no older than 5 years old, looks at the man and ask, "Can we come in?"

For the first time since the conversation started, John notices the eyes of the children. They were pitch black.

A little freaked out, John denies them entry but offers to call the police for them if they are lost. The children silently stare at John for a few seconds then they start to giggle.

Now almost panicking, John ask what is so funny. They look at John with smiles on their faces and say, "We want to come in, John."

Startled by how they know his name, he starts to ask how they know however, the words get stuck in his throat. Tens of children start to walk out of the darkness and rain but all of them seem to have the same characteristic. Black eyes.

Now panicking, John tells the children he can't help them but the children all start to laugh and giggle. They wanted in. John slams his front door and locks it, backing away in fear.

However, as John turns his head toward a window, he sees black eyes. The more he looks around the more he realizes that the children have surrounded his home. All of them with black eyes and large smiles on their faces.

"Let us in," one child exclaimed.

"Let us in," 3 more say.

"Let us in" 10 more yell.

The children start to bang on his house while yelling to be let in. Petrified, John grabs his phone and runs upstairs to his bedroom.

Sitting on the floor with his back to his bed, John was dialing 911.

"You shouldn't have done that," A cute British voice rangs out from his closet.

John freezes. Unable to think properly, John looks up to find a young girl, no older than 12, looking at him with her deep, dead, black eyes.

"How...?" John's voice wavers in fear.

"How'd you get in?" he finally finishes his question, looking at her in disbelief.

She smiles then reply by pointing at his bedroom window. The window was wide open.

"I closed that window, how'd you get in?" unbelieving that he left that window open while in mist of a storm, John ask her that simple question.

Her smile gets wider as children start to climb through the open window, bodies contorted with large smiles on their faces, the girl replies.

"It was never locked." She jumps at him.

Waking up screaming and falling out if his bed, John looks around terrified of the children only to realize that it was daytime.

"Huh?" John's confused.

He realizes that he had a nightmare and tries to calm himself down. 'It's just a nightmare' John thinks to himself as he walks down stairs for a drink of water.

Reaching the kitchen this time, John grabs a glass and fills is with water from the tap. While doing so, John looks up out the window in front of him. John freezes in fear.

Right there at the edge of the forest, a child can be seen, smiling and waving at John. That day, John moved back in with his parents, vowing never to live alone again.
