Chapter 53 Bell in danger

"Where were you! you big DUMMY!" Hestia yelled into my ears as she kept hitting my chest with her pitiful strength.

I gave everyone a wry look, not knowing what to do other then to pet her head and try to comfort her.

"I am sorry, I didn't realize the time passing and before I knew it, I was late, I promise it won't happen again." I told her.

"Liar! I thought you had...you had...i knew you were alive but...I just couldn't see my familiar member dying, sob." Hestia sniffled as she got up from my body.

I stood up and looked at her, she was already so small, and now her head hung low so I couldn't take a read on her expression.

"Promise me.." she said something but even with my strong senses, I couldn't hear her.

"Promise you won't do something like this again, I hate those who break their promises." She looked up at me, her previously cheery self was gone, she truly had the temperament of a god at this moment.

I couldn't help but feel like I should bow down to her and apologize, though my apex predator and my own pride stopped me from doing so, I did the next best thing and brought her into a hug.

"I won't, and as long as you can feel my connection with you, it means I am alive and well, not many things can kill me you know." I told her.

We stayed like that while the others awkwardly waited for the moment to be over,

The dungeon was already acting weird and I could feel it, I feel like I am partially responsible for this.

Ais was supposed to meet Bell in the dungeon and give him a lap pillow, but that has changed, I feel like that's my fault, the boy had a place in my heart simply because he reminded me of my sibling, step-siblings from the orphanage.
