1 Summer in Cinder Falls

Farah Anderson stood near the outside of Black Cinder train station, shifting from foot to foot, staring at the brick wall that had a bulletin board map of the smallest town she'd ever been to. The only thing that makes Black Cinder Falls look remotely mappable is it's dense forests and stretched out mountainscape. Great for hiking and exploring if the only Farah wasn't a city girl who hated nature. And now she is going to live in it. All just to meet a man she'd never wanted to meet, her father.

Farah didn't really have high hopes for their first encounter based on what her mother, Esme, used to say. It was nearly impossible for Farah to open her mind and heart enough to even go live with her father. She'd stopped asking about him long before her teen years. She had long lost her ability to care. Even still, Esme never shied away from her daughter's questions when she asked them. Rather than becoming reclusive, she would tell her of his betrayal and how he never wanted a daughter hoping to scare Farah away from wanting to meet him. Luckily, for Esme, Farah never wanted to meet her father. And now here she was about to meet him. The man who impregnated her mother and left. The man who took no part in raising her while her mother was a part-time college student and a full-time mother. Working two jobs at times to make ends meet.

Farah could feel her eyebrows furrowing as she thought of her upbringing. Mentally trying to change the subject failed until she was distracted by a beautiful boy with white hair leaning against the wall by the bulletin smoking a cigarette. 'When did he get there?' she thought obviously not realizing she was staring.

"I've been here for a while, doll" the white-haired boy drawled lazily as if sensing her thoughts. At a loss for words, which includes a witty comeback Farah just gaped at the now approaching boy.

"What's your name, doll?" The boy purred as if he already knew.

"Farah" she muttered nearly choking on her words due to the smoke the boy blew in her face making her cough and wheeze. After her coughing fit passed she realized how his face was touching hers it was so close. Debating whether to kiss his soft looking lips or punch the mysterious boy in the face she chose the 'better' option of the two. Tapping his forehead lightly stunning the boy making him stumble back slightly at the pleasurable shocks. She clenched her left fist and swung hitting him perfectly in the jaw with what people call her 'mean' left hook.

"What the fuck!" the enraged boy snarled from his place on the floor.

"I'm sorry I don't like smoke blown in my face, asshole!" she snipped turning on her heal to walk away from the boy she 'laid out' on the floor. Surprisingly, instead of yelling or attacking her... He chuckled! The asshat chuckled! She turned back to glare at him, but, there was no one there. Blowing out a sigh of irritation Farah walked out of the train station onto an ancient looking brick walkway upon hearing the distant rumble of a car.
