“You think I can only give and not take?” Arlo’s voice shook. “You think healing is the only thing I’ve got?”
Nash scanned the field, tried to see between the trees they’d just left. He hadn’t thought much about Arlo’s ability at all.
“Nash, goddammit, let me go.” He tore at his arm, desperation creeping into his pale eyes
“Calm down.”
“I’m not calming down until you let me go.”
Nash held still. Letting go?He didn’t want to let go. “Babe, listen—”
“Babe? Babe! Are you out of your mind?” Arlo stepped as far away as Nash’s hold allowed him to.
Nash bit his lips not to say anything to make things worse. “No, if you calm down and let me explain, you’ll understand.”
Arlo threw his free hand in the air. At first, Nash assumed he was gonna hit him, but it was just a gesture of frustration.
“Let you explain? We haven’t done anything but talk for the last hour, and you haven’t explained a thing! You’re only acting weirder and weirder.”
