19 The Most Distant

The room was a storage of unused items. In other words, they were trash.

Why the family would not dispose of these, Tang Xinyue did not know. Maybe as a disguise for when they do shady actions?

Looking around, she spotted a handle on the ceiling. She pulled it down, and a ladder came out.

Tang Xinyue climbed up into the attic and coughed. It was dustier than the guest room in the Li household.

She waved her hand in front of her, and looked around the attic.

Although it may seem that the Fan family was prominent and rich, that wasn't the case. They had to rely on Fan Lingxin's engagement to Li Xia.

If that wasn't the case, then the mansion would not be this dusty and old.

In her previous life, when she avoided the gaze of her mother, she saw a hole in the ceiling. This was what she looked for.

"There!"

A single stream of light pierced the room, making the hole quite obvious. Tang Xinyue avoided all of the items in the attic and made her way to the hole.

She swiped the dust off that part of the floor and lied down, her eye peeking through the hole.

Coincidentally, Li Xia and Fan Lingxin had just arrived.

"They probably took another detour."

As an unexplainable feeling of jealousy sprouted within Tang Xinyue, a maid greeted the pair.

The usual greetings happened, and Tang Xinyue started to get bored. Speed it up, please.

In her past life, she could remember that her relatives taunted her, and as a result, she went into a rage.

However, she was severely outnumbered with all of her relatives' continuous provocation. Li Xia ignored all of the fuss, elegantly sipping tea by her side.

This memory could not leave her mind, and she wanted to help, but as a trespasser, it would only do more damage if she revealed herself.

Thus, she could not do anything but sit back and watch the show about to unfold.

The maid led the two to a table, where all four of Fan Lingxin's relatives were waiting. There was her aunt, her uncle, and her two cousins.

"Mr. Li, we have been waiting for you," Fan Yazhu said with a smile. Her thick makeup could not conceal the wrinkles on her face.

"Hmm." Li Xia did not speak and sat down on the opposite side of the circular table. Fan Lingxin followed behind him.

Her meekness was not as obvious as she was more familiar with these people, but it didn't completely disappear either.

Although she was familiar with them, they were the most distant a family could get.
