18 Sneaking In

Tang Xinyue stood still.

She faced the mall, watching as Fan Lingxin and Li Xia exited the building.

"...Huh? Wh- what happened?"

Soon enough, the two entered the car, and she stared at its silhouette drifting further and further away.

Tang Xinyue held her forehead. She looked at her sides, and tried to remember some recent events.

"That's right, I need to follow them!"

She hurriedly called a taxi. "Fan Mansion, please."

In contrast to the previous taxi driver she encountered, this one seemed a little less enthusiastic.

Arriving at her destination, Tang Xinyue paid the driver another thousand dollar bill before she exited the car.

Unexpectedly, the driver didn't even flinch. He took some change out of his wallet and planned to give it to Tang Xinyue, but since she was already outside, he didn't mind keeping some tips...

The taxi was gone in a flash, leaving no room for Tang Xinyue to hear the driver's disbelief.

Shaking her head, Tang Xinyue walked down the rest of the destination. With trees and plants at both sides, the breeze felt colder than in the city.

The Fan Mansion was secluded from the other buildings, as she remembered from her past life.

"Surely, they won't let me in..." Tang Xinyue thought of a problem.

She was an uninvited guest. Why would she be given permission to go in?

"Aha! Fortunately, I still remember my hidden entrance."

As she continued to walk, she eventually arrived right in front of the gate. The guards squinted their eyes, trying to recognize who the lady in front of them was.

"Um, excuse me? Madam?"

Tang Xinyue turned a sharp right, ignoring the guards. She abandoned the road and went into the grass.

"...Madam, where are you going?" Not leaving his post, the guard tried to ask Tang Xinyue again, but to no avail.

Tang Xinyue walked alongside the wall, looking for the irregularity she exploited last time.

"It was right... here!"

The brick wall was ancient, so it was inevitable for it to have some cracks and holes. Tang Xinyue pulled out the only brick blocking a human from entering the narrow space.

Tang Xinyue chuckled. She felt nostalgia, as she had not visited this mansion for a long time. Ever since she got married to Li Xia, she had only ever gone in the mansion a dozen times.

"Next is... this!"

The mansion had a secret backdoor through which activities unknown to Tang Xinyue occurred. After all, a prominent family would need to keep some secrets.

She opened the unlocked window, making as little noise as possible, and reached into the doorknob. The coat she wore obstructed her flexibility, leaving her with no choice but to take them off.

"...Here."

The door opened with a click, and Tang Xinyue entered the room.

As soon as she stepped in, the wooden floor creaked, startling Tang Xinyue.

"Err..."
