1 Tip Of The Iceberg

The fresh morning with the birds chirping sound just began after long summer vacation. The beeping sound of the alarm was annoying Nancy. Furthermore, she was already late for school. It was the first day of school after summer vacation. Nancy woke up slothfully and tried to get ready as fast as possible. Nancy is an introvert, and she was a great admirer of fictitious crime-thriller series and books. She was almost an addict.

"Oh god, I am late for my school" Nancy groaned

"I told you to wake up early in the morning, now hurry up and have your breakfast" Nancy's mom yelled

"Okay, mom. Now can you please stop yelling at me"

"Just hurry up. Your friends are here too"

Nancy smooched on her mom's cheek and left for school. Her three closest friends were waiting outside for her. Cindy is her best friend also her neighbor, Krist and Josh were also her neighbors, and these all were Nancy's friends since childhood. These all were in tenth grade. Finally, they arrived at school and went to the class. Only after some minutes, the class started.

The sharp and long bell ringed after some class. It was time for the lunch break.

"Finally, the best part of the school starts" Krist said

All of them laughed and went to have some lunch. While having lunch Cindy invited Nancy to find some books in the library for doing some research for their homework.

"Nancy, I am heading toward the library after lunch. I want to fetch some books for the details related to our homework, will you join me?" Cindy urged.

"I wish I could. Lately, I am not feeling well and want to take a nap, or else I will be unable to take other classes properly. Why don't you go with these useless fellows." Said Nancy making fun of her friend Krist and Josh.

"Just shut up!!" Said Josh annoyingly

"You should shut up!" Nancy replied

Krist was one of the pacifists of their group. He was kind and helpful toward everyone. As for Josh, he was a high-tempered guy with an intelligent mind. Indeed, He was liked by many of the students due to his appealing personality.

"Now, can you stop quarreling ?" Krist tried to ease the moment. All of them stood silent for the moment. Josh changed the topic " So what were you saying, Cindy?"

It was a sober moment but Cindy couldn't hold her laugh because of their serious looks. Cindy burst out laughing. Somehow it was funny accordingly, all of them laughed and reconciled.

Cindy asked John and Krist to join her at the library.

"I am in if you will help me with the homework too" Josh made a deal

"Ugh!!! What about you, Krist " Cindy asked

"same, I guess" Krist smirks and patted John

"okay then, I'll help you." Cindy sighed.

After having lunch all of Nancy's close friends went to the library except Nancy. Nancy was feeling drowsy and exhausted therefore she strove to take a nap in her classroom for a while. As she was napping, She noticed the building adjoined with their school's backyard. However, it seemed abandoned and not well furnished. In a minute after gazing at the building, she noticed the girl talking on a mobile phone. The building was next to near, so Nancy was able to look at the girl. She was young, pleasing in appearance, and seemed annoyed while she was on a call. Nancy ignored it for a while and aimed to take a rest. Only after a second, she couldn't hold herself. She again endeavored to see what was happening in that building. Then instantly she spotted that some of the guys were arguing with that girl. Despite the clearance, it was looking like an argument.

While they were squabbling, Nancy was already assuming things in her way. Her crime-thriller addicted mind was overthinking a lot. Nancy's mind was exploding with the fantasy. Unexpectedly Nancy was startled by the ear-splitting sound of a bell ring. She was gasping in sweat. Cindy and other friends of Nancy came into the class. They saw Nancy and tried to tranquilize her.

"Nancy, are you okay?"

"Is anything wrong?"

"What happened?" All of her friends tried to calm her down.

Nancy apprised them that she had a bad dream. After all that chilling episodes, the class began. Nancy spared no effort to ignore it.

After some classes, the last bell ringed and the school was over. Even though Nancy ignored that incident, she couldn't stop imagining things. Her mind was overthinking a lot. She was shocked that the habit of reading a fictitious book can make her suffer that way. Nancy arrived home and played video games and did some homework which helped her to ease her mind then somehow she managed not to think about it.

Nancy was the only child of a single mother. Her mother was an independent and lovely woman. Nancy helped her mother to cook some dinner, had a meal, and did dishes. She was on her last leg, yet she had some revision to complete. Hence, Nancy went to study and did some emendations. After some time, She kept zoning out as that small event clicked her mind so deeply that she was inadequate to resist it. After a long worn-out day, Nancy finally proceeded to sleep without making it any big deal and hoped for the best day ahead.

Nevertheless, who knows what tomorrow holds.
