7 First day!

I woke up to the alarm, it was Monday again. I wanted to throw tantrum like a baby and sleep, but who should I throw tantrum to? Well it was not like I am not a morning person. I like to get up early and see sunrise and all, but today was different after my class I had to go for babysitting. Beth somehow made me nervous. She is just a kid Hailey.

Well I anyways got up and got ready for class.

Well anyways the day passed in blur and it was 2.30, I was a bit early. From what I heard Beth will be back by 3 from school and here I was standing outside the gate of the Anderson's! I took the bus at 2 and reached here in 30 minutes. It wasn't that far.

Well again I was greeted by the same man. "hello sweetheart! It's your first day right? Come on, come in. Beth will be here in some time." All could do was smile, I mean I was really nervous to even talk. The man was I think tom's age, but why is he so happy? How can anyone be so happy?

"come sit sweetheart, make yourself at home! I am Jordan; I have been working here for Mr. Anderson, since 4 years so if you want any sort of help just come to me without any hesitation ok?"

"thanks sir." I said shyly.

"no dear call me Jordan."  I nodded my head; he was a really tall man with only little white hair on his head. I looked at the time it was 2.40 so Beth would be here in some time. Till that time Jordan took me to the huge living room, with wide couch, it was really expensive looking. Well the whole place was expensive.

Jordon showed me half around the house as till that time Beth had arrived, by now I was only able to take a look at the big kitchen, living room ,backyard which had big garden like ground, it was my favorite place till now, playroom which had all indoor games, all I mean all. Anyways we saw the car from the backyard, which was indication that Beth has arrived, so Jordan took me to meet her.

Before that Jordan had told me that, I have to make sure that I take complete care of Beth, she is only 5 after all. I need to make sure she does her homework, take her to park in evening, make sure she eats healthy etc, etc. well it didn't seem so difficult, I can do that right? Well yes you can Lee! I know I can. I rushed out and saw Jordan giving me a smile "good luck dear! Go!" he said pushing me as he could see I was staring blankly ahead.

I saw the little girl she was having blank expression, hard to read type. She was about to climb stairs maybe to go up her room when she saw me. "hi Beth! You remember me? I met you the other day? Alec introduced us?" I said softly smiling at her. She gave me that blank look again and then said in her sweet voice "yeah I remember."

"you will take care of me now right?"

"yes I will, you don't mind right?" she shook her head and ran up the stairs. Well I slowly followed her. I knew one thing for sure it won't be easy to impress her or make her comfortable around me. Well I can't stop trying now can I? At least she is not some rude kid, she just seems shy.

I followed her and saw her entering her room. I stood by the door and saw the girl keeping her bag in place and removing shows keeping it at their place neatly! Well she is a clean freak like me. "Can I come in?"  She just nodded. .

I entered in dream room of every girl kid. It was whole pink and white. Everything themed of princess, there was a pink tent, where she can sleep, small cute looking dressing table where I can imagine her getting dressed and pretending to do makeup, so cute. There was also nice study table. A closet! And a bed too, the room was perfect. Well she sure is lucky girl. Her dad has put some thoughts while decorating room. Only thing strange in here was there was not even a single photo in any walls, neither in her room nor in house downstairs!

"Your room is really nice, I like it a lot." I said enthusiastically so that I can see some expression in her face. Well I did saw a glow in her eyes for a second "thanks, I like it too."  But just as it came it was gone.

"so Beth! What would you like to eat? Should I ask Mrs. Banks to make you something to eat? you must be hungry."

She again just nodded. You have to be patent Lee. "ok, you should change I will meet you downstairs." I went down towards the kitchen. I saw old chubby lady, short heighten lady, whom Jordan introduced me to, she was already preparing something to eat, I am sure it was Beth. She was a sweetheart; 60 year old really had an aura that said that she is most caring person of all.

Even Jordan was sweet, infact they both had done perfect job t take my nervousness away.

"oh dear, taste the sauce, is it ok?" she asked and then I helped her preparing meal. I was also hungry. I must say Greta that's what she told me to call her was a wonderful cook, well maybe even better than my aunt Melissa. Well I am sure not going to tell her that.

"ahh my princess, look I made delicious food for you." Greta said and I saw little girl came and gave Greta a big hug; she didn't pull back for some more time. Well they seem close. "are you tired my baby?" she asked and Beth started to tell her all about her day, it was first time I saw her talking like a normal 5 year old, you know they are usually chatty! After some time Greta, giving me looks that said that she was giving us time to know each other. I served Beth the food and sat in front of her.

"So you Beth we should try to get to know each other, as I am going to be around now." I said fidgeting. Kids are so damn hard to please.

"What's your name?" she asked quietly still not looking at me. She seems quiet mature for her age I feel.

"Hailey, but I would like it if you call me Lee; all my friends call me that." I said smiling at her. She looked at me with her big eyes, she is so cute!

"You are pretty Lee."  She gave me a small smile. Wow! She smiled at me, that to on my first day! Ha good job Hailey! "But you are prettier than me."

"Thank you." Rest of the meal we ate silently, but the giant bear between us was surely gone now.

"so what do you do at evening Beth?"  We both were now sitting outside at the backyard. She was coloring and I was just enjoying the peaceful weather. "Someone or other takes me to the park."

"so today I can take you. Your friends come there too?"

"yeah, all some of my friend usually comes there. Sometimes they do sometimes they don't."

"ok so let's go shall we?"  She was now giving me a bit big smile and nodded enthusiastically. She was already wearing nice pink dress so she didn't need t change, and I was wearing the same clothes since morning, I should keep in mind to pack extra set of clothes from tomorrow.

"you are doing quite well I see."  I saw Jordan giving me a wink.

"you think so?" I asked sighing, thank god!

"yes dear you're doing wonderful job! Beth has gotten quite comfortable around you. She never went to garden with the babysitters before at 1st day itself. That's a really good sign." Greta exclaimed.

"well I am glad. she makes me nervous."

Jordan chuckled ruffling my hair "you are a good kid dear, I know you will take good care of her, and also be around for a longggg time."  Telling this he gave me a wink.

I was not sure about that, I am out of here as soon as my financial problems are solved. I anyways didn't argue with Jordan.

"should I call driver to drop you both?" Greta asked just when Beth came down. "no, no I think we can walk, right Beth?" I asked the little girl. She was looking nice but her really long hair was not properly combed. Not today Lee, let her get more comfortable around you first. I know that the garden was just 10 minutes walk from here.

Well the whole time we were silent. When we reached Beth ran off to her friends, while I just sat nearby watching her play with them. She seem so lost and sad when at home, but out here she looked really happy, still not the type of happy a girl her age should be. I have just been here for ours and I am able to figure out the girl a bit.

Well maybe because her parents are not around? Ofcource because her parents are not around, I mean her mom is dead and dad, I don't think they meet often, Maybe only on weekends?  I should talk to her dad and tell him to spend some time with her that will make her happy for sure. Will talking to him about this make me noisy? I mean this is my job right?

I will think about it when I meet Mr. Anderson. It's strange I am hired and he hasn't even met me yet, maybe he trusted that Alec guy.

In some time we were ready to leave, to impress her more I offered her ice-cream. Only because it was my first day, but I also promised that once in a week she can have one. She surely was impressed and had started to like me. Ha! I was good with kids after all. She even seems to walk holding my hand now.

By 6.30 we reached home. We both together did homework sitting at the kitchen table. Yeah yeah strange but kitchen was so big, and Beth chats openly with Jordan and Greta, so I thought she would be happy, I was sitting seeing her completing her homework while Greta cooked. I was by that time chatting with Blaze and Char to let them know about my day.

What a day! For sure I never expected my day to turn out good. Yes it was awkward, but much less than I expected for sure.

Anyways after completing the dinner I was now sitting beside Beth on bed. It was 9.30 by now, I bath her and even combed her big soft hair. She was really starting to grow on me in just one day! Never knew that I could take care of a child. Yes at first I was feeling a bit weird but now it feels good. Feels like part of me I didn't knew. Motherly part, well every woman has the part.

You would have been a wonderful mother!

My voice haunted me. No! I wouldn't have. I failed before. I replied to my inner voice. My eyes filled with tears that wanted to drop, but I controlled them. Beth sounded asleep. I kissed her forehead.

Just a day and I have fallen in love with this sweet innocent child. 

I switched off the light, leaving a dim one on. She told me she is not scared of dark but then too. Every child is scared of dark when isn't she? It's a good thing you doofus!

I gave her blanket and was about to leave when she held my hand. "lee? You will come back tomorrow?"

Aww!! "yes I will my dear." I said kissing her hand. She gave a small sleepy smile and went back to sleep. I took my cell and bag and went downstairs to say good bye to Greta and Jordan.

"Greta? When can I meet Mr. Anderson? He is home yet?"

Greta shook her head no. "he is out of town for business meeting dear. Maybe will come back by Friday."

Friday? that too far, anyways I left.

I went home. I was tired like hell. It was a tiring day for sure. I had to take a bus again so it took me almost an hour to reach home.  It was 10.30 by the time I reached. Walking from bus stop to home was a bit scary for me after what happened with the ugly old man.

I showered and lied down in my underwear and a blazes t-shirt which I stole. It was big and comfortable for me. I don't even know why my thoughts drifted towards Mr. angry voice. I don't even know his name. 3 times I met him and I don't know his name.

It's better that way Lee he is not a person you should get to know. He is nothing but rude, arrogant rich, and a model like handsome man. I must say he is good view to look at. I wonder how he must look when he smiles. Does he even smile? Ha it's hard to imagine a smile in that face. Although he would look even more breathe taking when he did. Ahem a crush is what I see here. Yeah right! Huh crush on him? can't even imagine that. Who can like person with such dark personality! He is not at all likable, just a great view to look at. So thinking about HIM! sleep came over. I have many better things to do rather than thinking about him. I have a long day ahead its better if I sleep.

Next few days was pretty much the same. Beth had for sure now gotten me, she smiles at me even shares what happens at school, with me. I also realized that it's a good thing that I accepted the job. I am sure enjoying spending time with Beth.

Still I sure find that she is not that happy, but she is much better now. Today was Thursday which means this was forth day around here. It was 5 in evening we were sitting in the garden of the Anderson's mansion. I don't understand why Beth goes to park; I mean there was already a whole garden built for her around here. There was swing of two type big one and small one for children, sea saw, sand, slide too. Beth was playing in sand with her toys while I sat on big swing watching her. It was quiet peaceful.

I heard the back door open it was Alec. Beth was still busy playing she didn't noticed him, he shushed me and sneak up behind he went to sneak behind her. Beth squealed and laughed and Alec tickled her.

"so, you both getting along?" he came and joined me, sitting beside me on the swing.

"oh yes we are, she is a good kid." I said looking at Beth who now ran inside. I think Alec asked for lemonade.

We talked a bit more and I asked him about Mr. Anderson. "I think you can meet him tomorrow." While I talked to Alec got to know that he worked for Mr. Anderson and they also are best friends. He was 26 years old, single man. He seems polite but sure flirts a lot with me, but I like him.

"so I was thinking to take Beth at my aunts diner for lunch tomorrow, will it be ok?"

He first looked like he was analyzing me but then he nodded. "OK, but make sure to take car and driver along."
