1 Paralyzed

Brayden was laying in his bed unmoving. The very same bed he's been in since he was 12 years old. He's never been very lucky in life even before he was paralyzed. Being the weakest child of his family of espers he was always treated as someone useless, a person who didn't get any love or resources to train as it was all given to his sister.

He considered himself a patient person but his life has almost completely driven him mad. All he wanted was to leave his family and live on his own but they caught him and beat him until he was in this state. Luckily he could still find a little bit of happiness from the times his sister Emily would come to feed him occasionally and talk to him. Although not for normal reasons.

Emily came in to his room and could see her brothers dead eyes but she was used to it. 'It's a shame such a cute face was wasted on him' she thought.

"Have you heard of the new vr game coming out soon Brayden?" she said calmly but you could tell she was a little excited.

Hearing this question Brayden was angry and replied coldly.

"How could I hear about something when I never fucking leave this room? you're the only person who even talks to me and that's because you have to."

Emily was agitated hearing this, she was trying to be nice but he's an asshole like usual.

"No need to get so angry little brother, I will try my hardest to convince our parents to let you play it as a gift for your 18th birthday. Maybe you could stop being a useless corpse and have some impact for our family, after all most disputes are solved online nowadays."

Brayden stared at his sister, her long black hair, cute face made her easy on the eyes, the only thing she didn't have was height.

"Emily, Aren't you 20 now I swear you still look like you did 10 years ago."

Her innocent looking face contorted, Brayden wanted to laugh, he knew his sister was anything but sinister even though she looked like an innocent child, He didn't believe she was just being nice.

"Little brother, why do you always have to be such a little shit? Fine ill be back tomorrow if you're allowed to play Immortal Dream with me."

'Immortal dream huh, Hopefully I can give it a try, Maybe when I'm playing it will feel like nothing is wrong with my body' Brayden pondered.

The next day Emily came back into his room, a huge grin plastered on her face. Brayden looked over at her in anticipation.

"You're allowed to go on for a few hours everyday and I must babysit you to make sure you don't make our family lose anymore face."

Brayden's face stayed the same as he wasn't surprised in the slightest, actually it was expected. He calmly replied.

"Of course that's fine, I love spending time with my sister."

Emily's eyes opened wide, She didn't expect such an answer but calmed down when she realized it was clearly sarcasm. She brought the vr helmet and put it on his head and said.

"You have 15 minutes to make your character, Choose tutorial village #134 and add me as a friend. My username is Emlovely. After an awkward silence she heard him laugh a little and was furious

"Stop cringing you asshole, I doubt you could come up with better!"

She turned on his helmet and stomped out of the room making Brayden laugh the hardest he has in years. Why did she get so mad over something like that? Unable to answer his own question he finally started paying attention to the game.

"Greetings adventurer, welcome to Immortal Dream, Please select your starting class, attributes, and tutorial village to begin your journey to become the strongest."

Brayden could see a perfect copy of himself wearing the starting armors as he switched through the classes, Warrior, Mage, Ranger, Summoner, Rogue, Warlock, Shaman, and priests.

He originally wanted to go rogue because of his otherworldly reflexes but picked mage because of his esper ability, although it is weak 99% of people don't even have one. After he quickly chose his stats as he was only given 20 points to start with each stat starting at 5 then he chose his name and selected the beginner village #134.

Brayden was ecstatic, it was time for him to move again after 6 years. A blinding light engulfed him and he found himself on the outskirts of a large sized village.
