1 Revenge

Mu Lan, who had lost everything in his life, had fallen into severe depression. He had no job, no family, no friends... Death seemed like a gift to Mu Lan, but if he died, he wouldn't be able to exact revenge on those who had caused him such pain.

Mu Lan had fallen into debt due to a game he played, losing his family and friends as a result, and thus, he desired revenge. There were multiple people who had caused him such pain, and in truth, the fault lay not with the game itself, but with those who lent him money. They committed all sorts of atrocities and easily got away with it.

Twenty years ago, scientists had pushed virtual reality experiences to the highest level. What we felt in real life, we also felt in virtual reality. Recognizing the potential of this technology, game developers came together to create a new game called "God Defiant."

However, in the past twenty years, no one had managed to challenge the gods in the game. This was because no one had earned the right to do so. To challenge the gods, one had to collect all 100 challenge scrolls scattered throughout the game. Legendary weapons, armor, and titles were also dispersed throughout the game, incredibly difficult to obtain. If you could challenge and defeat the gods, you would gain control over the game, with the power to adjust, develop, or shut it down entirely.

Mu Lan had been playing this game since its release. His character was level 80. Everything was incredibly difficult in the game. So, he had started to learn various artisanal skills. It took him five years to reach the highest level in each skill. Even the highest level player in the game was only level 95. Mu Lan regretted playing as an assassin. If he could start from scratch, he would definitely choose the archer class. But that wasn't possible.

Mu Lan was now on a path of revenge. Having lost everything in his life, he turned to dark deeds. With the last of his money from the game, he bought an illegal hand grenade. He was determined to exact revenge on those who had destroyed his life. After all, he had nothing left to lose.

"I have nothing left to lose. I've already lost everything. Even if I die, no one will care. But if I can take those despicable men down with me, perhaps I'll be remembered," he thought.

It was time to get to work. With twenty years of experience in challenging the gods, he was quite knowledgeable. His character was a level 80 assassin. He knew how to kill a person secretly. But right now, secrecy wasn't his goal. Making as much noise as possible was.

He would be remembered, even if it was for something bad. Because people truly died when they were forgotten. And Mu Lan wasn't the only one who hated these people. They had destroyed many other lives. Perhaps he could even be remembered in a positive light.

Xen Zu, the owner of Xen Zu Corporation, was on Mu Lan's list of people who deserved to die. He lent money to people, dealt in illegal drugs, and bribed the police. He covered everything up. He even sent people to steal money from those trying to pay off their debts. This left people unable to pay off their debts and penniless. That's why he deserved to die.

But the one who deserved to die the most was Madin Yogra. But it was currently impossible for Mu Lan to reach him. Madin Yogra was the one who had killed Mu Lan's family and friends, making Mu Lan watch. If he had a second chance, Mu Lan would definitely take revenge on Madin Yogra.

Mu Lan soon arrived at the Xen Zu Corporation building. It was a huge 100-story building. Mu Lan estimated that there were about 50 guards on the first floor, with more on each subsequent floor. The building was well-guarded. But Mu Lan didn't take action yet. After twenty years of experience as an assassin, he had learned to be patient. If he acted now, he might take out a few guards, but he wouldn't be able to kill Xen Zu. And Mu Lan wanted that. He planned to kill Xen Zu no matter what.

Across from the building was a park with peach trees that had shed their leaves, creating a beautiful scene. Mu Lan went to a nearby bench and sat down, watching who was entering and leaving the Xen Zu Corporation. When he saw Xen Zu leaving the building in the evening, Mu Lan's heart began to race. Was this the moment he had been waiting for?

Mu Lan approached Xen Zu cautiously, his hands were in his pockets, holding a grenade. He had planned everything perfectly. When he reached Xen Zu, Xen Zu recognized him.

Xen Zu was surprised to see Mu Lan. "Well, well, if it isn't the man who owes me money. If you haven't brought my money, get lost. I don't want to deal with you," he said arrogantly.

Mu Lan pulled the pin of the grenade in his pocket. Xen Zu would be distracted for 7-8 seconds. Then, both of them would die. Mu Lan was counting the seconds while trying to distract Xen Zu to prevent the guards from approaching.

Mu Lan calmly responded, "I brought your money, but I don't want to cause a scene. There are people watching. If you want your money, tell your guards to back off."

Mu Lan continued to calm Xen Zu while counting down the seconds.

'2'

'4'

Xen Zu signaled for the approaching guards to back off.

'6'

Mu Lan began to speak to Xen Zu in a mocking tone. "Oh, by the way, I have something for you. It only lasts for 2 seconds, so don't drop it."

'8'

Xen Zu was still astonished at how he dared to speak to him like that. What would he give for dealing with this lower-class person? His hand would get dirty, and with people watching around, he couldn't mistreat Mu Lan. After reluctantly agreeing, he found himself obliged to extend his hand.

Just then, Mu Lan swiftly shoved the pin-pulled hand grenade into Xen Zu's mouth and left the grenade's pin in Xen Zu's hand.

Xen Zu, bewildered by the turn of events, looked at the pin of the grenade in his hand and wanted to throw the grenade out of his mouth, but Mu Lan put his hands on Xen Zu's mouth and back of his head, in a tight lock.

Xen Zu, tried to resist his lock, but it was not to avail.

'9'

"When Mu Lan shouted, 'GO TO HELL, XEN ZU!' the bomb exploded."

Xen Zu didn't have time to react before the grenade exploded.

Mu Lan was also heavily injured by the blast and lay on the ground, but he was not dead. He was happy to have taken his revenge. He looked up at the clear sky and thought that it was much, much more beautiful than ever.

The sound of the explosion had frightened the people nearby, and they began to run and scream. "Terrorist, we're under attack, terrorist, police!"

The guards from the building came outside, but Mu Lan was lying on the ground. Next to him was Xen Zu, but something was missing. His head was gone, blown apart into the pieces with the grenade. This was definitely a terrorist attack. The area was soon surrounded by police and guards.

Within half an hour, the news was all over the headlines.

Xen Zu, the founder of Xen Zu Corporation, had been killed in a terrorist attack. The suspected attacker was Mu Lan.

Xen Zu had many enemies, and they were all rejoicing. They took to the streets to celebrate.

"Long live Mu Lan, long live Mu Lan. We will never forget you."

Mu Lan had become a hero by blowing up Xen Zu's head with a grenade, earning the admiration of Xen Zu's enemies.
