43 Going Over Some Training

[This has been the worst August in 3 years. Christ. Writer's block is one thing but damn. I'll try to upload more than once a month, just hope the rest of the year won't be as bad.

Enjoy mates.]

'... What now?'

Kumi thought as she retracted her hand and took a glance at the surroundings while closing the System Bubbles.

The Potential Measurement Device shattered.

Hilde had her eyes opened pretty widely.

The Locks were shocked enough to become deceased.

The single maid that saw what happened showed a rather laid-back but still extremely surprised reaction.

And the guards that could see it shatter were ready to fall on their hands and knees to start praying to their Gods.

'What a colourful set of reactions. So... what are we reacting to?'

Kumi walked up to Hilde who still had her eyes locked on the disappearing broken artefact.

Pulling her sleeve to get her attention, Kumi simply looked at her and waited for some kind of reaction.

'What happun?'

Hilde looked at Kumi before turning her head back to the artefact.

She sighed rather loudly.

"That cost so much moneyyy..."

Kumi looked back at the thing she was instructed to touch.

'You can only blame yourself since you wanted me to touch it. Well... You can blame me too and lock me up until I find enough money to pay you back. But I ain't doin that.'

"Alright. Well, these things happen. Kumi, looks like you can't go and play just yet, we have to talk a little first. Kay?"

Kumi looked at Hilde and nodded her head.

'I don't like where this is going.'

"Great. Head on up to my office. I'll be there in a jiffy."

Hilde looked at one of the locks and instructed them to take Kumi to her office with a simple movement of her head.

The Lock nodded and left the place with Kumi in tow.

'What's a jiffy?'

And so, the rest of the cast was left there, speechless.

...

"What the fuck was that..."

One of the remaining Locks said after a while.

"No clue."

Hilde said as she walked up to the broken artefact that was slowly dissipating into the air.

Ignoring the ruckus of people talking, Hilde reached out to touch a shard of the broken orb.

As she did, a simply insane amount of multicoloured Mana rushed out of it like a supernova.

It was powerful enough to push everyone away while forcing them to the ground, like the pressure emitted by a God.

All the guards around fell unconscious while everyone that barely remained standing were covered in a cold sweat and overwhelming primal fear.

After a few seconds, the Mana dissipated.

Hilde started gasping for air, barely capable enough to keep standing as she fell on one knee.

"Was it really a good idea to get this kid? I can already tell it'll be fucking tough to raise them.."

Hilde complained but still had a slight smile on her face.

'So this is 'Fear'. Heh. First time.'

She thought as she slowly stood up, walked to the single maid who was barely left standing and walked off with them.

'This kid is a Blessing but a God Damn Dangerous One.'

Hilde and the maid reached the office, walking in, Hilde sat down while the maid went and stood next to Kumi after giving her a quick glance.

...

As Kumi waited in the office, alone might I add since the Lock left to wait outside the door, she ran through her thoughts.

'So like... Why do they suddenly want to talk?'

Before she could start cautiously making some irrational decisions and hypotheticals, the door opened and Hilde walked in along with a maid.

"Hey, Kumi. Sorry, it took a minute."

Hilde said before sitting down behind her desk.

"So let's get to it. We'll need you to start your training a little earlier than planned, is that okay?"

And, the appropriate response.

Kumi shook her head.

"Well, we really do need to. It's not really a choice..."

Kumi wanted to cry (in her head).

'I haven't even finished my preparations for daily life!'

"Look, we don't want to start it now either, we just don't have a choice in the matter."

'If we start now we will have definite control over your actions and a temper tantrum won't destroy half the continent. Better now when you're weak than when you're 16 and capable of mass genocide.'

Hilde silently thought.

"See? We even prepared one of the best teachers around for you! You know she used to go by the super cool nickname of Timeless Knife?"

Hilde grinned while the maid looked at her with clear annoyance.

Before Kumi could shake her head or think of any quirky comments to make in her head, Hilde continued.

"And guess what? That very teacher is the maid next to you! She has some super cool and dangerous and rare and dangerous abilities that make her the best teacher around!"

'You said dangerous twice... The words Timeless and Rare already give me an idea about her too.'

Kumi quietly glanced at the Maid.

She had short silver hair, a sharp face and dark yellow eyes.

'She looks like someone that says: "You're eating even though you're dead. That must really mess up the food chain." or even "Za Warudo".

What I'm trying to think here is that she's scary.'

Their eyes met.

And the moment they did, Kumi's skill alerted her of a ton of knives hidden beneath the maid's dress and within the room.

The maid narrowed her eyes.

"Great! Isn't it!?"

Hilde exclaimed rather loudly as if she was dealing with two easily manipulative Demon Lords.

'I don't have nearly enough prep work done for this...'

Kumi thought.

"Right. Now let's get to the main point! Because of your high Agility and body control, we believe you would do well as an Assassin-type fighter or something similar! What do you think?!"

Hilde exclaimed.

'... This is where my life after my afterlife starts going downhill... Isn't it?'
