24 Chapter Twenty-Two

Just like that, Beerus the Destroyer was gone.

Before anyone could react, 12 angels appeared from nowhere and encircled me.

'Oh? What's this?'

'Seal!'

The angels all chanted simultaneously as their staffs began to glow. I felt my body being suppressed and my energy refused to move.

'This is interesting! Oi seriously what is this you guys?'

The angels didn't respond and with a wave of their staffs, all of us vanished. I reappeared in a great hall and stood before the Grand Priest.

'Father. The sinner has been restrained.'

I looked around the hall and caught sight of several others. Gowasu along with the God of Destruction of universe 10 and universe 11 stood to the side.

The Grand Priest looked down at me with an indifferent expression.

'Do you know why you're here?'

'No idea.'

'Stop lying you bastard! Because of you Jiren is dead! Now Beerus even!'

Belmod roared as Gowasu shook his head and softly spoke.

'Zamasu...and Shin as well...'

I turned to them in confusion.

'What exactly is the issue here?'

The Grand Priest spoke.

'You have taken the life of a Kaio, a Supreme Kai and a God of Destruction. Yet you have the gall to feign ignorance?'

'...Supreme Kai? What Supreme Kai did I kill?'

'Still you act ignorant. The Supreme Kai of your universe is dead.'

'Kibito Kai? I didn't kill him though?'

'The Supreme Kai and the God of Destruction have their lives tied as one. If one perishes, so does the other.'

'Well no one told me about that, so you can hardly blame me for his death.'

Belmod shook with anger.

'Enough! You killed Jiren!'

'So?'

He spluttered.

'Mortals kill one another. What's so surprising about that?'

'You...'

'The death of a mortal is not why you're here. You took the life of a God, a Kaio and, perhaps indirectly, the life of a Supreme Kai. Do you deny this?'

'Not at all. I killed the Destroyer simply cause he was gonna destroy a planet I care about. Are mortals not allowed to defend themselves against the gods? As for the issue with Zamasu, that guy was bad news. I did you all a favour.'

'Did us a favour? How so?'

'Look into the future of an alternate timeline and you'll see.'

His look sharpened when he heard me mention the other timelines. His gaze lingered on me for a little while before he turned to Whis.

'Go ahead.'

Whis projected the image on his staff for all to see. They saw the events of Zamasu killing Gowasu and massacring the mortals.

'This...'

They all stared in shock, Gowasu more so.

'...it seems you spoke the truth. Yet how is it you came to know of such events? Time travel perhaps?'

'Nope. Never been time travelling. I just had a gut feeling you know? Instinct maybe.'

'...I see. Very well. For the death of Zamasu you are absolved. For the death of Beerus...you are absolved.'

'But father-'

'Silence. He protected his planet. He is not guilty of having the power to defend himself. As for the Supreme Kai...an unfortunate casualty of which he was not aware. This is my decree. Free him.'

The angels somewhat begrudgingly released the seal.

'Well that's settled then. Now how about introducing yourselves? I'm Rei.'

'I am the Grand Priest. These are my children. Now we have another matter to discuss.'

'Oh? What's that?'

'The position of God of Destruction in your universe is vacant. How would you like to take up the position?'

'God of Destruction...I'll pass.'

'...you would decline the position? How unfortunate.'

'Hmm...I think I have someone I can recommend though.'

'And who would that be?'

'My student. Gohan.'

'Whis. Do you know of who he speaks?'

'I do, father.'

Whis once again projected an image. It was Gohan's battle against Beerus.

'What!'

'How...a mortal!'

Gowasu and the Destruction gods were shocked at what they saw.

'Your student is quite capable.'

'Right?'

'Very well. He will take up the post. Whis, go and handle it.'

'Yes, father.'

'As for the Supreme Kai...an elderly one seems to be alive and well there. He is to take up the position.'

'Understood.'

'The rest of you can head back.'

The angels and the gods all vanished leaving only me and the Grand Priest. He turned to me with serious expression.

'Now. How about you tell me how you weren't destroyed?'
