11 Chapter Nine

The two energies collided as time seemed to freeze. The red ball pushed through the beam of energy with the help of the rotating green ki that surrounded it.

In moments it reached Paragus.

As soon as it came into contact with him it exploded. A powerful shockwave destroyed the surrounding area. The smoke cleared to show Rei floating slowly towards the ground, as he landed heavily on his back.

'Yikes. Well, I'm exhausted.'

He reached into his sash and grabbed a senzu bean. He healed almost instantaneously. With renewed vigor, he lept to his feet and made his way towards the wasteland where his attack had landed.

The death bomb was a technique he had come up with after learning the basics of the spirit bomb. His heart wasn't pure enough for the surrounding life to share their energy with him so he had figured out how to steal it. With his impeccable energy manipulation, it didn't take too long to create. Unfortunately, there was a limit to how much he could steal.

He soon found the body of Paragus. Or what was left of it.

'Now that's just unsightly.'

Rei shook his head and swiftly repaired his damaged clothes. He put two fingers to his head and used the instant transmission to appear at the Supreme Kai's side.

Shin was surprised to see him.

'Done resting?'

'Yep. I was feeling kinda hungry. Can I get something to eat?

Shin knew the appetite of this voracious eater.

'Easily done.'

After a generous feast, Rei returned to his room.

'RoBro. If you would be so kind.'

Rei's battle with Paragus had been intentional on his part. He had been counting on the death of Broly to spur on a Super Saiyan transformation within Paragus.

Unfortunately, Paragus was lacking the sufficient amount of S-cells.

Nevertheless, the result had been satisfactory. His battle with Paragus allowed him to hone his fighting ability and bring out his Legendary Saiyan potential.

His life was never in danger. He had a surplus of senzu beans and the Kaio Ken to fall back on.

After absorbing Broly his short hair seemed to have grown longer and spikier.

'Finally awakened my Legendary Saiyan cells.'

My biggest gain was this. Now my training will bear fruit more quickly and I can aim to achieve the Super Saiyan form. I fell heavily onto my bed and drifted off to sleep.

I awoke several hours later and went to meet up with Shin.

'Supreme Kai, I'll be returning to Earth now.'

'Have a safe trip.'

With that Rei disappeared and reappeared beside Dr. Briefs, who was startled at the sudden appearance of his acquaintance.

'Sorry to barge in here like this Dr, but I have something I'd like your help in making.'

'Another interesting challenge? Bring it on.'

I explained to him the concept of a room which could artificially increase gravity. Dr. Briefs was intrigued and immediately began drawing up some blueprints and jotting down complex equations.

'I'll need a week to get this done.'

'I appreciate it, doctor. See you then.'

Rei left the Briefs residence and grabbed his dragon radar. He quickly found the 4-star dragon ball and returned it to Grandpa Gohan.

Keeping promises were important after all.

He had a week to kill so he spent it leisurely, traveling the various cities and enjoying the food. As for money? Dr. Briefs had been generous enough to let him use his card.

Money seemed to mean nothing to the man.

His short vacation came to an end soon enough. A week had passed and it was time to meet up with Dr. Briefs once again.
