1 Prologue

"Alright class, that's it for today. I'll see you tomorrow by the Goddess's will," I said. I calmly took up my scrolls and placed them in my bag.

"Alright, teacher, see you tomorrow," cried the children as they scurried out of the room. The group went to the fields just south of the Academy, and the sounds of laughter could be heard quickly after they left.

The teacher quietly chuckled and headed out of the building. As he entered the street, he thought about what he was going to do tonight and his lips slightly turned up. He heard the clopping of a horse and he quickly slid out of the way.

"Sorry about that. We're in a rush," a boy told him. He was a young child around eleven. His brown hair stuck to his head because of sweat, and his eyes had bags under them from the lack of sleep.

"That's fine. I completely understand. Why in such a rush, though?" the teacher asked. His hazel eyes looked into the teacher's blue ones. The boy seemed to notice something and quickly looked away.

"Sir, I can't say. However, it's quite important to the country."

"Alright let me pose a different question. Is the empire involved?" he asked. The boy slightly jumped and clenched his fist. His breath sped up for a bit. After a few seconds, his breathing calmed down and he opened his clenched fist.

"Yes. I need to catch up with the team," the boy replied and started to slightly jog with a huge bag on his back, his feet slightly shaking from the weight. The teacher shook his head and continued on his way.

The teacher quickly walked home, and the sun had just set behind the Perditis Mountains. He opened the door to be hit by the wonderful smell a home-cooked meal. He took off his shoes and put them behind the door. The brick house still gave out some warmth since night just begun and it still comforted him just feeling the warmth.

"Honey, I am home," he called out. "I am going to clean myself up."

A flash of red suddenly appeared in my face and I got bear hugged.I look down to see the dark ocean blue colour. She quickly let go and went back to the kitchen .

He simply smiled at this and head up stairs to clean himself. He put my bag in the bedroom and headed to the washroom. As he threw his clothes on the floor and the sound of metal hitting the floor was heard.He turned around and saw the ring he planned to give her. He softly placed it on his clothes with care.

He then started to fill the bucket with water from the drums and when he looked at his reflection in the water. A figure could be seen behind him .

Its eyes glowed icy blue and his breath start to condense. He quickly turned around but no figure could be seen.

'I will tell her about it when I get down' he thought to himself. He quickly cleaned himself and picked his clothes with the ring. He changed into some light clothes and headed down stairs to see a wonderful meal; the steam still coming off it.

"This looks wonderful." he said to her. She smiled at hi, and we sat down and talked about how our day went. I told her about the kids and how they are going to be picked up by the churches and the jokes the kids told me.

"Honey, I want to ask you something," he said as I placed my fork on the table and took out the ring.I looked into her eyes and asked, "Will you marry me ?"

She smiled at him and tears started to flow from her eyes.

"Is this a yes ?" he asked. My voice was filled with happiness but suddenly I started to bleed out from my eyes and pores. He started to scream as his very soul felt like it was being pulled.

"As per the contract, a soul of dearly beloved is needed for this partnership. Do you accept this ?" a voice said. My breath was starting to condense and I was starting to shiver.Then I heard her say

"I accept and her is my blood for the authenticity of it."Suddenly a bright line appeared for a second and disappeared.He tried to turn my head to see her face even if this was the last time but only blackness was only there . He lost my life then and now.

A knock on the door suddenly sounded The woman went to it and open to see the young boy that he had seen one the street

"Mistress, has the job been finished ?" he aksed."The Empire wants the squadron back in two days for the summer solstice."

"Yes, its time head back." she replied.Tears could still be seen on her face and blue eyes was as turbulent sea.She put the ring on her hand and a small smile appeared on her face. They then quickly ran into the night.A ring could be seen on her finger glittering in the night.
