The scene before her eyes

"What will you do now?" Esmeralda asked Ethan as they finished dinner. It was late at night and the answer was obvious that he would be going to his room but she still asked him the question as if he had some kind of special midnight plans. What plans could he possibly have? 

"I'm going to sleep. It's quite late at night. I should sleep now," Ethan said as he stood up to leave her room but she surprised him by catching her wrist and he turned around to find her looking up at him and asking, "Are you sleepy?"

To the question, he replied by saying, "Does it matter?"

"Of course, it doesn't,'' Esmeralda answered him with a serious look. "If you are not sleepy, we can do something."

Ethan snatched his arm away and said in disbelief, "Are you again drunk?"

"What are you saying?" Esmeralda questioned him back. She took a pause and looking at his pale and flushed skin, she muttered, "You are looking as if I had asked you to sleep with me."

"Have you not?" Ethan questioned.
