22 Trainee Battles

The training field was set up similarly to how the Hit It Tournament was set up. There were trainees walking around and getting ready. Although there was the main group of Namjoon, Yoongi, Hyosang, Hun-cheol, Donghyuk and Hoseok that were training within Big Hit Academy, they weren't the only trainees. There were other trainees that were all fighting and doing their best to join the group as they were being personally groomed by Hitman Bang to debut.

They were the goal that every trainee in BHA were aiming for. And today they would have an opportunity to join the line up.

There were already matches being held between the trainees. As they continued to move up through the tournament, they would have an opportunity to either join the team directly or fight a current member for their position. This is what the boys were waiting for.

Namjoon stood at the side of one of the fighting areas, watching the young trainees fight. He was analyzing all the students looking for potentially problematic Adepts. Beside him was Yoongi who was also observing the fights before them.

"I think that you won't have any problems with this group. Not with the Hybrid I designed for you."

Namjoon grinned. Yoongi was an incredible Power Designer. He was able to produce Hybrid after Hybrid. He produced many but he had such a high standard that he wouldn't let them all see the light of day. He continued to craft, tweak and adjust them all until they were finally released. Namjoon was grateful that Hitman Bang could see the gifts and skills within Yoongi to keep him even though he lost.

Hoseok came walking up from behind. He stood on the other side of Namjoon.

"Anyone interesting?"

Namjoon shook his head.

"Not according to Yoongi. I think that I couple of them definitely have potential though."

Yoongi replied bluntly.

"Potential means they should try again later."

Hoseok and Namjoon chuckled. They had come to enjoy Yoongi's blunt way of speaking. He didn't say much, but it was always funny when he did. Hyosang and Donghyuk walked over to them. Hyosang spoke while pointing behind him.

"Nothing interesting on that side. Was kind of hoping for a good challenge to sharpen my skills."

Donghyuk nodded.

"There aren't many Adept's here that can go toe to toe with us. I think the synergy for the group would be off if their skills weren't up to a certain standard."

Hoseok looked around.

"Any of you guys seen Hun-cheol hyung?"

They all looked around and shrugged. None of them had seen Hun-cheol since they left the dorm this morning, which was strange. One of the staff came over and informed them to go over to one of the arena's. Hitman Bang was waiting for them. They bowed and went over right away.

As they neared the tent, they saw Hun-cheol standing beside Hitman Bang. He had his arms crossed and didn't look too happy. Namjoon looked over to Hun-cheol, who didn't even look at them as they approached. Hyosang called out to Hun-cheol as they entered the tent.

"Hun-cheol! Where have you been? We've been looking for you all day?"

Hun-cheol continued to stare out the tent to the arena.

"Had to talk about a few things with Hitman Bang."

The boys all nodded and came to stand behind Hitman Bang to watch the matches. Namjoon, however, could tell that something was off with Hun-cheol. Since when did he cal him Hitman Bang.

Before he could ask, Hitman Bang spoke up.

"We have a few trainees here that I want you all to battle. One on one. Hyosang, your opponent is up first."

Hyosang nodded and walked to the edge of the arena. The previous battle had just finished and the staff were resetting the field. When they were finished, the signalled Hyosamg and his opponent to enter. They bowed and began quickly. Hyosang chanted quickly and a large wolf formed behind him. He rushed forward and leaped into the air. The wolf rushed forward and caught Hyosang on its back.

The other Adept created what looked like golem made of rocks. It charged forward to take on the wolf. As the two clashed, the wolf slammed into the golem hard. The force pushed back the Adepts as he tried to push the rocks forward. The golem was an incomplete creation, so the wolf was able to claw at it to take it a part. With a final bite, the golem was destroyed. The Adept had gone pale, clearly drained from his exchange with Hyosang's wolf.

As Hyosang and the wolf approached the Adept, the young Adept through up his hands in surrender. And the first battle came to an end. Hyosang reentered the tent and was congratulated by the boys. Hitman Bang nodded at Hoseok who grinned and went to the field. His opponent was another Battle Mage and put up quite a fight, but was inevitably defeated by Hoseok who came back to the tent grinning.

The last two battles were all within Namjoon's estimations. He knew how powerful each of them were and he had been closely observing all the trainees. Next up was Donghyuk. As he entered the arena, he looked over at his opponent. Donghyuk bowed politely but he noticed that his opponent just stood there glaring at him.

Donghyuk frowned at his disrespectful attitude. He got into a fighting stance. Namjoon and the others glared at the trainee who was standing there. Hoseok shouted angrily.

"Waste him Donghyuk-ah!"

The staff signalled for them to start. As Donghyuk chanted, he pulled out a small device. A Hybrid Flux. A purple aura burst from the device in his hand and surrounded Donghyuk. The aura then took the shape of a drill which started spinning quickly. Donghyuk then began floating within the aura.

His opponent chanted quickly and the arena began to shake. The ground continued to move violently. Donghyuk sensed that a large attack was coming so he channelled his energy forward, causing himself and the drill to charge towards the Adept.

But just as he was nearing the Adept, a steel wall shot up from the ground. Donghyuk couldn't stop his momentum, as he and the drill slammed into the wall. The drill did its best to go through the wall, slowly pushing through it. But at that moment, the Adept finished another chant and three more walls shot up from the ground, completely blocking Donghyuk from view.

The boys all panicked seeing their friend in such a bad situation. Hun-cheol had a fire in his eyes as he looked at the metal walls around Donghyuk. The Adept had a cold look in his eyes as he grinned evilly. As he chanted, he lifted his hand and made a fist.

The walls became distorted, caving in. With Donghyuk inside. The boys all shouted in panic, even Hitman Bang stood up in shock. Namjoon and the others all ran onto the field towards the collapsed walls with Donghyuk inside. Hun-cheol yelled angrily as he charged on to the field, but unlike the others, he headed for the Adept as he chanted furiously.

The Adept laughed as he continued to crush the metal walls when his arm was suddenly hit from the side by what looked like a metal spike. He was bleeding and was in pain. He looked up and saw Hun-cheol viciously charging towards him.

"Your life is mine, asshole!"
