44 Battle of the Visuals

The tornado slowly died down before dispersing completely. Now the previously crazy winds that were raging over the arena, had become a calm day. Not even a breeze. Hoseok helped his two dongsaengs up. Hitman Bang stood up with a grin on his face.

"Jung Hoseok. You will take the position of Main Battle Mage on the team. Your position is now finalized and set. Jeon Jungkook and Park Jimin. The two of you will be placed on the list as Lead Battle Mage's. Your names have the possibility of being removed if you are unable to rank highly in another area. The three of you may now go and sit with the other trainees."

The three boys looked at each other excitedly for a moment, before repressing their emotions and bowing respectfully to Hitman Bang and walking off the arena stage. As the got off, they all turned to each other and began cheering happily. The others came over and celebrated with them, congratulating Hoseok on gaining a position. Taehyung came to Jimin.

"That was one heck of a fight."

Jimin nodded with a look of disappointment.

"Hoseok hyung did amazing. I still have a long way to go."

Taehyung put his arm around his friends shoulder.

"You did awesome. Hoseok hyung is incredible, but so are you. And Battle Malinga isn't all you can do, right?"

Jimin stayed silent before grinning at Taehyung.

"Thanks, Tae."

The staff then announced for the next competition to begin. The Visual Prowess category. Seokjin grinned as he stepped forward and, to everyone's surprise, Taehyung stepped forward too. Only Jimin seemed to have known as he cheered his friend on.

"You got this, Taehyungie! Fighting!"

Taehyung nodded as he walked to join the group. Seokjin locked eyes with him and they nodded resolutely at each other. They went and joined the other Visual Prowess Adepts. The group were all handsome young men and this sight alone would cause the hearts of women to swoon immediately. Both the female and male staff were affected by the group's overwhelming handsomeness. Yet it was clear that there were two young men that stood out from the group.

Seokjin and Taehyung.

Hitman Bang announced from his platform.

"The Visual Prowess battle will be done in a last man standing, all on all battle. Good luck to all the trainees."

The Visual Prowess trainees all spread out on the arena. It was said that one's Visual Prowess was something that an Adept was innately born with. Although you could work hard to grow it over time, it was usually a matter of genetics and it was usually directly related to one's charm and physical beauty. Thus, the group that were competing for the Visual Prowess competition were all quite handsome.

The staff stepped forward to initiate the battle. The eyes of many of the Adepts began to glow. There were Adepts that created different elements with their Visual Prowess to attack others. Some were using mental attacks to hurt their opponents. While everyone was fighting, Taehyung and Seokjin were staring at each other. There was a competitive look in their eyes but also a mutual understanding. They nodded before looking at the other competitors.

A trainee had formed blades of energy and had sent then flying towards Seokjin. He glanced at the blades and they froze in mid air. The trainee was shocked to see that. Seokjin blinked and a symbol of an hourglass had appeared within his pupil. The hourglass slowly turned around. As it did, the energy spikes went backwards, flying back towards the trainee who had cast them. He panicked as he tried to dodge but was struck by one of them.

Taehyung felt a a sting of pain in his head. He turned and locked eyes with a trainee who's eyes were glowing as he stared intensely at Taehyung. Taehyung's eyes began to change as the turned a dark purple color. His shadow began expanding as it rushed over to the trainee. As it made contact with the trainees shadow, the trainee's eyes went wide as he stopped the mental attack on Taehyung. Not able to control himself, the trainee turned and began attacking other trainee's.

Taehyung turned to see two trainee's fighting against each other. He sent out his shadow to connect to theirs as well. He then shouted at them, which caused them to look at him. Once they did, they were both stunned as they realized that they lost control of their bodies. Taehyung's Visual Prowess was a controlling ability used through his Dark element. He could control someone's shadow, which didn't seem like a very strong move, until he made eye contact with the person.

A shadow was created by light and was made to follow the person, reflecting their movements. Taehyung was able to cast a spell on the person who looked in his eyes and force them to follow their shadow. Having control over their shadow, now meant he had control over them. He now had three trainee's under his control as he went about getting them to attack the other trainee's. This was his current limit of control, but over time, he and Jimin believed that he would be able to control a lot more at once. He could potentially control an army if he wanted to in the future.

Seokjin hadn't moved from his position yet, but was able to defeat anyone that came near him. Many of the trainee's were now weary of him, afraid to approach him. Seokjin was able to completely control time and space within his vicinity. Once things entered his vicinity and he glanced on it, he then controlled the time of that person or object. He could also manipulate the space around him and had been using breaks in space, creating portals, to redirect oncoming attacks to hit other people.

Taehyung and Seokjin were making quick work of the other trainee's. They were able to take down most of the trainee's by themselves. And the help of the three trainee's under Taehyung's control. Taehyung released the three trainee's as he got them to walk off the arena, out of bounds, so they were eliminated.

Now it was just Taehyung and Seokjin remaining. They both prepared themselves for the battle. Those watching were extremely excited. From the beginning, it was clear to many of the trainees and staff watching that these two young men were on a completely different level, and they were interested to see who would come out on top.

Jimin, Jungkook and Hoseok were watching with wide eyes of anticipation. Yoongi seemed to be disinterested, yet his eyes were completely glued to the two boys. Namjoon and a look of curiousity as he wasn't sure who would ultimately win.

Taehyung threw the first move. His eyes glowed and Seokjin suddenly felt a powerful pull from the ground, like everything had suddenly become heavier and it was becoming difficult to stand. Namjoon looked impressed.

"He increased the gravity around Seokjin hyung to limit his movements. Interesting."

Seokjin responded with a grin as his eyes flashed. He suddenly was sent into the ground and then reappearing directly next to Taehyung, kicking him with a powerful force. Taehyung was caught offguars and was unable to block it as he was kicked to the side. Yoongi was stunned as he explained what had happened to the confuses looking Jimin, Jungkook and Hoseok.

"Seokjin hyung created a portal below him and used the powerful gravity to push him down with tremendous force. He then created another portal beside Taehyung."

Hoseok understood now.

"With the force of the gravity, Seokjin hyung's kick increased immensely in power due to the extra force. Daebak!"

Taehyung got up slowly as he looked over to Seokjin who was standing in front of him with a smile.

"Come now, dongsaeng. Show your hyung your true power. I know there is more in you. Let us push other to new heights."

Taehyung grinned as his eyes glowed. His shadow began to swirl around him, creating black energy around Taehyung. The energy seemed to be absorbing everything around it, including the light. Taehyung nodded at Seokjin.

"OK, hyung. Let's go!"
