18 Recklessness

Seeing Vivian's expression, Jasmine also looked at the message.

"Who sent this?"

Of course, the message was anonymous. The group would have liked to continue their investigation, but as the lunchtime was coming to an end, they had gone to eat.

Once the school bell rang, they went to see Xu Rui who had sent a message to Vivian to tell her that he had discovered something else rather sensitive.

For confidentiality reasons, they decided to go to Emma's house to talk about it. Her mother wouldn't be home until late that night and her father was a lawyer so even if he was aware of the discussion, there shouldn't be any trouble.

Now that Xu Rui was not buried in this dark room; they could see his appearance.

He was easily 175cm tall and had black hair and black eyes. He also wore glasses. He had an ordinary style. The kind of guy who could easily sneak into the masses.

Once there, Xu Rui settled in and took a serious look. It took more than a minute for him to speak.

"While rummaging through her wristband, I discovered messages of threat. And it wasn't very beautiful to see..."

He had taken an inspiration before he dropped everything.

The girls put their hands in front of their mouths. No one could believe their ears. Vivian was particularly upset and seemed to be about to start crying. Daniel looked Xu Rui straight in the eyes before he spoke. He hugged Emma who had started crying in his arms to reassure her.

"Are you sure about that?"

Xu Rui would have liked to be able to say the opposite, but unfortunately, this was not the case.

"Yes. There are bits of videos that I'm going to avoid showing you that prove it. However, that's all I could get out of it. In the end, the recipient is hidden, and we can't catch Isaac with this if he is guilty."

"What do you mean by if he is 'guilty'?" asked Jae Hyun.

"You can't see him rape her, and the number is not his" replied Xu Rui.

"So why do you think it's him?" Jae Hyun asked.

"Just a feeling. Anyway, let's move on." said Xu Rui.

He then pressed his wristband and transferred data to everyone before getting up.

"With this, I did my part. There is all the necessary information in the files I just sent you. I'm not getting involved anymore."

Tiffany was surprised by his reaction and got angry against all expectations.

"We're talking about your friend, right? Don't you want to revenge her?"

"Listen. I'm sorry for what happened to her and frustrated. You have no idea. But I want to keep my quiet life. I'm still going to send you the name of the person who sent the message to Vivian once I have it."

With these words, he left. Tifanny, who was upset, had been calmed down by Jasmine and Emma.

Once that everyone opened the files, they understood immediately. The group was composed only of children of rich or influential people in the city. Even if they had proof, it would be difficult to get them arrested. Unfortunately, we were in a world where influential people could get away with anything they did.

Jasmine was frustrated by the situation. She clenched her fists.

"So what? Just because they have influence doesn't mean they're unbeatable. What they did is unforgivable, and they should pay!" she said.

In the end, they had spent the evening studying the files before returning home. There were not much they could do without knowing the group's hideout. On reflection, they thought that their best chance would be to find out who Vivian's mysterious contact was.

When Jae Hyun got home, everyone seemed to be sleeping, so he did the same.

The next day, in the morning, Vivian received a message from Xu Rui and decided to share it with others during the break.

"I received a message from Xu Rui, and he told me that the person who contacted me was Liam H. Kady. A driver according to him. He also discovered where the photo was taken. It would be in the dark district."

Daniel frowned.

"The dark district? Like in the crime and prostitution district? The one that even Bliss doesn't dare approach?"

She nodded and Emma spoke.

"How did she get in there? And why is that? It's not a very frequent place..."

Jasmine spoke with a decided look.

"It doesn't matter. What matters now is to contact this guy and get over there."

She started walking towards the courtyard. Tiffany smiled.

"Oh? We skip classes? Great!"

Everyone followed her except Daniel.

"You're not serious? Are you really going to skip school? Even you, Jae?"

Jae Hyun smiled at him.

"I never refuse to skip school."

"But it could be dangerous. Wouldn't it be better to tell an adult or let the police do the work? We're just high school kids." says Daniel.

"If you're scared, you can stay behind" replied Jasmine with a defiant look.

"Who's afraid?! I'm coming!" answered Daniel.

Daniel sighed before following them. As they were leaving, Kylian saw them but did nothing.

After taking the hyperloop and making two transfers, they had arrived at the entrance of the Dark district. As he approached, Daniel did not feel very comfortable for the girls and stood in front of them with Jae Hyun. Many people looked at them as if they were probing them.

They could feel the heavy atmosphere of the looks. Emma tried to ignore them before turning to Vivian and the others.

"Don't you think we should contact this guy?" she said.

"That's what I did, but still no answer..." Vivian said.

Jasmine took her wrist and typed a message for her before sending it. An answer came immediately.

"$10,000 minimum per information. Non-negotiable."

Jasmine was pissed off at that answer.

"BASTARD!!!"

Her scream had resounded in the street so loudly that even a deaf person could have heard it. And unfortunately for her, the 'occupants' of the street were not happy with the remark. She regretted getting carried away and forgetting where they were.

A group that was eating out quietly and was one of those probing them had approached them. Daniel and the others knew by their eyes that they were far from being welcome on the spot.
