I Just Want to Get Out of Here Alive

At that moment, on the other side of the door where Jonathan had ventured to investigate, he discovered that Jill was nowhere to be found.

Thunk!

At that moment, in the distance, he heard a door being frantically pounded, and Jill's voice continued to plead for help.

Rrrgh!

Jonathan seemed to have believed that he was already in this scene, which immediately made him think that this event was related to what he already knew of the slightly altered future of this world.

According to his recollection, just when Jill was in danger, Barry appeared to save her.

Everything would have gone well if Jonathan weren't here, as he had intervened in many things, it was natural that some of the situations didn't unfold. Not that he cared, but the death of Jill Valentine is something he cannot allow if it can be avoided.

And fearing a delay, Jonathan hurriedly ran in the direction of the cries.

On the way, he wondered if he would make a difference. He wasn't an expert in weapons, and obviously not a hero either, as he had motives to survive. But on this occasion, he realized that his body moved before his brain's ideas, and now that everything was aligned, he discovered that it wouldn't be a good idea for Jill to get hurt when he was with her.

"Don't you dare to die!" Jonathan shouted as he tightly held his weapon and ran to try to do something if he could.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Jonathan, who heard the shots, stopped and looked into the distance at a couple of zombies trying to enter a room and a zombie dog that kept growling at the door, which was now falling apart.

At that moment, there was no doubt in his actions, and in an instant, he raised his weapon and squeezed the trigger.

Bang Bang Bang Bang!

The bullets at this point didn't need to be precise to eliminate those enemy figures. When a bullet hit a zombie's leg, it fell directly to the ground.

As for the zombie dog who received the shots, it immediately turned towards Jonathan, or that's what it tried before its body received the impact of several bullets and fell to the ground with its limbs completely shredded.

Now Jonathan had become accustomed to the recoil of the weapon in his hands; he could control it, and thanks to some bandages on his right shoulder, the pain had disappeared when firing. His wide-open eyes fixed on his target and did not close until those figures ended up on the ground.

But after seeing that it was over, he took the shovel tied to his backpack and walked towards the lifeless corpses trying to crawl towards him with a strong hunger desire.

"Die once and for all, you damn things!" Jonathan shouted as he crushed the heads of those zombies with strong blows.

Crack! Crack! Crack!

After a few minutes, Jonathan stopped and saw that those zombies had become completely unrecognizable under his strong blows to the head, something he didn't consider so brutal at first.

"You can come out now; the place is safe." Jonathan said as he opened the door.

"Jonathan?" Jill's voice sounded surprised; obviously, she had believed that Jonathan was a selfish man willing to do anything for his safety but discovered now that this wasn't entirely true.

"It seems things got complicated for you. By the way, what happened to Barry?" Jonathan asked in a calm tone, still immersed in his nervousness from killing two zombies.

"I haven't seen him since we left the cemetery..." Jill said as she surveyed the broken door.

At that moment, Jill Valentine had killed two zombies inside the room, which surprised Jonathan a bit, thinking that things could have actually been resolved without any problem by her.

"I still can't wrap my head around the fact that these things are no longer human... How can they move and kill when they are already dead?" Jill asked in a hesitant tone, as if she still didn't believe that zombies couldn't turn back into humans.

"Well, the virus they got infected with seems to kill the human body in less than 24 hours, turning them immediately after death into these human-devouring things."

"Still, I thank you for helping me; I owe you one..."

Jonathan shook his head and said, "You don't have to thank me; we're here as a team, and it's the most normal thing in the world to help each other if we're in trouble."

"You're right, but still, it's hard not to thank you when you've helped..." Jill still thanked Jonathan for his good deeds.

Jonathan knew that by choosing this simulation, he could continue forward in other experiences, whether in movies or series of the same kind.

"We should now gather with those who are left in this mansion. We can't move recklessly through the mansion as if it's not full of dangers." Jonathan wanted to leave this place and meet with the others as soon as possible.

"Yes, but before that, I want to know where Chris is now..." Jill was concerned about Chris as he hadn't appeared for a while, and since they were going back, it was smart to first look for him in the surroundings before returning.

Jonathan thought and said, "Chris? He should be fine. I looked at all of them when they entered the mansion, and he seemed to be the strongest of all."

Jill Valentine smiled and said, "He's quite tough, but even the strongest people in this place die in a lamentable way..."

That was right; no one had their future secured, and that included people who theoretically survive without any problem in this place.

Jonathan smiled, seeing that Jill seemed to have eased her vigilance against him. The funny thing about all this is that he always gains the trust of others by seeking his own benefits. He didn't know if it was a coincidence or just luck.

In the midst of all this hell, it was pleasant to be with strangers. Jonathan wouldn't know what to do if he were completely alone. Maybe he would go crazy, even consider doing crazy things in this place to survive.

While the two were talking, a person suddenly appeared in one of the hallways they were walking through. Obviously, he was injured but had bandages on his limbs.

Seeing the appearance of the other person, Jill exclaimed, "Richard!"

"What's going on? You're injured!"

The man named Richard, with a somber expression, opened his eyes and murmured, "This place is like a human slaughterhouse, full of strange monsters..."

"Who did this to you?" Jill asked as she knelt towards Richard.

"It's a giant snake... it must be venomous..." Richard was clearly out of breath, and his words were weak.

"I ran into Rebecca; she's looking for an antidote..." Richard said again, looking at Jill Valentine's desperation.

"I'll also look for some kind of antidote; our doctor isn't here, but we'll help you?" After finishing speaking, Jill was very eager to get up and look for medicine, but just as she turned around, she saw Jonathan handing over a syringe.

"What's this...?" Jill was baffled by Jonathan's actions.

Although Jonathan didn't wander much around the mansion, he found some things that could save his life, so he found several first aid kits where he found some subtle things.

Jonathan had prepared for this situation and said in a calm tone, "The serum for the venomous snake, I found it but never knew what it would be useful for."

"Thank you." Jill said solemnly as she took the injection.

"Again, don't thank me."

When Richard saw the serum handed over by the other party, he also hurriedly thanked him.

"He's giving you an injection now, wait."

Jill rolled up Richard's arm sleeve and directly injected him.

"In which direction did Rebecca go?" Jonathan asked while looking at Richard.

"To the left; she seems to have tried a bit, but I couldn't move to check if she was okay..." Richard responded as he closed his eyes from fatigue.

Jill, seeing this, said, "It's okay, we'll find her and come back to help you."

Jonathan now knew that somehow Richard found Rebecca, and they were searching for their companions who should be in the mansion. Maybe it happened this way, or things turned out differently, but he had to hurry and find Rebecca before things went very wrong for her.
