6 5. A Change in Bex

While Bex's father continued to barter for the droid, Bex waited patiently by the door to the shop. He couldn't wait to get home and repair his new droid. To get it up and running he picked out the rest of the parts that were missing and gave them to his father for purchase. Bex would finally have someone who would understand him and play with him and even help him get off the planet one day.

Bex had a dream to explore the galaxy and find and tinker with old broken droids. They seemed more like him than other people. They made sense. When something was wrong they would tell you rather than encrypting what was wrong in words and feelings.

While standing by the door his vision blurred a little and his eyes watered. He stumbled a little but caught himself.

"I'm all done boy. You are now the proud owner of a pile of junk. Are you ok son?" Marc asked concerned.

"Yes father just something in my eye is all. Thank you for the droid I can't wait to get it working." Bex said while wiping a tear away.

"You are welcome Bex. Now let's find you sister and mother."

"They are over there." Bex said without looking and pointing into the crowd of people walking by.

"Ok son." Marc said puzzled that Bex knew where they were through so many people. He probably seen them walk that way Marc thought, writing the situation off.

Sure enough his wife and daughter were right where Bex had said they would be.

"Were you able to find one?" Deboora asked when they approached.

"Yes mom. Look how cool it is! It's an R4 droid just like the Jedi use!" Bex said all excited.

"Couldn't you have found one a little less trash than this one?" Whispered Deboora.

"It's what the boy wanted and who am I to crush his dreams.

"Can we go home now? I feel kind of strange." Bex said wiping his eyes again.

"Yes and don't rub your eyes or you will get dirt in them." Deboora said.

After loading the goods into the large transporter the family took off back home with Bex and Marc ahead of the two girls.

Bex's eyes stopped watering and his head stopped ringing as it had early. He took some deep breaths and relaxed. When in the city he felt like everything around him, the people, animals and even some of the things around him were pulling him in every direction. He could see his family even through a crowd of other people. Felt where they were standing. Their moods as they were talking. It was odd nothing like this had ever happened to Bex before.
