Chapter-5 Kendo

7:56 on a Saturday morning

"Haaa...huuu" Ren yawned deeply as he rolled out of bed.

Opening his door and walking into the living room only to see Kai sitting on the couch watch the news again.

"What are you doing up so early?" Kai asked Ren while eating some cereal.

Looking at the cup of coffee sitting on the table Ren says "When I was out yesterday I saw a kendo dojo I thought that I would check it out."

Getting up from the couch Kai said "That's not a bad idea."

As Kai is putting on his jacket Ren asks "What are you doing?"

"Well I'm coming with you of course." Kai said after he finally got the jacket on.

"What do you mean your coming with me?" Ren said.

Picking up his coffee and bringing it close to his mouth Kai says "You still owe me an apology for being rude to me the first day we met and instead of an apology how about I beat you to a bloody pulp on the kendo mat in stead."

Ren then said "Well I guess if there's no talking you out of it you can come along."

as the both of them walk out of the dorm Ren can't shake the feeling that he forgot something but he just can't remember what.

About half way to the dojo Kai looks over at Ren and asks him "So your practiced in kendo."

Looking down at the book he brought with them Ren says "I've done a bit from time to time, what about you."

Kai puffs out his chest and proudly says "I've been doing it since I was strong enough to hold a sword."

Then pointing at a scar on his right cheek that stretched from the bottom of his eyelid to the bottom of the face and he said "I got this from when I tried to pick up my dads sword and it fell on me."

Looking the scar Ren said "So I guess that was before you started kendo."

Looking at Ren Kai says "What makes you think that?"

Then Ren looked back at his book and said "Well because you said you've been doing kendo ever since you were able to hold a sword."

A little dumbfounded by Rens response Kai just looked down at the ground blushing a little.

"Ahh here it is." Ren said as he stood at the foot of the dojo's entrance.

Walking into the dojo Ren searched the guy who looked like he was in charge and when he found someone that looked responsible he walked up to him and said "Hey you, you mind if me and my roommate have a duel."

Looking back at Ren the guy said "If you want to have a duel then you'll have to ask Makabe."

Looking around Ren said to the guy "Which one of these guys is Makabe?"

The guy then said "let me go get him for you."

As the guy walks off towards an ongoing match Ren looks at Kai's hand and sees a metal bottle and he asks "What's in the bottle?"

Kai holds the bottle up and says "My coffee."

As soon as Kai said coffee Ren remembered what he had forgot that morning and let a whisper slide "That's what I forgot."

Kai looked at Ren and said "You say something?"

"No." Ren replied quickly.

The big guy was on his way back with Makabe when they heard Kai say "Oh I get it you haven't had your coffee today."

Ren looks at Kai and says "Shutup."

Kai then unscrews the cap of the bottle and puts it to his lips.

Ren points at him and says "Don't slurp."

As soon as he said that Kai began to slurp.

"Don't." Ren says while pointing at him but Kai continues slurping.

"So you two are the ones who want to try out here." Said a strange armored person walking towards them.

Looking at the two of them he points at Kai and says "You can stay but you have to go." He says now pointing at Ren.

Kai steps in and says "Wait sir you have it all wrong I'm not here to try out I'm here to fight him."

Looking at Kai the armored guy says "I know but why would you Kai Toka go as low as to battle someone like him."

Kai lowered his head as though expecting Ren to ask why this armored figure know him but Ren did not ask anything instead he pointed at the masked figure and said "Then how about I take you on in a match, and if I win you let me and my roommate fight."

The masked man seems to have been offended by Rens challenge and excepts by saying "Alright you little bug I'll take you on but not for your petty reason but to show you just how out of your league you are."

Looking at Makabe Ren says "Are you gonna stand there all day or are we going to do this?"

"You little shit." Makabe says looking at Ren through the mask.

10 minutes later

Now Both Ren and Makabe are standing on the mat both fully dressed in armor.

Makabe raises his sword and says "I might let you walk out of this unscathed if you drop down on your knees and beg me for forgiveness."

Looking at him Ren just holds up his fist and raises his middle finger.

"Why you." Makabe says right before charging right past the student who was supposed to tell them when to start.

As Makabe is charging straight at Ren with the intent to shed blood Ren simply just steps to the side as Makabe goes flying past him.

After passing Ren Makabe finally came to a stop and turned around, and this time he walked towards Ren.

Once he reached him he tried to slash Rens left side which Ren just blocked then he tried the right, Ren blocked it as well. He then tried a downward slash to the head which Ren blocked with his blade then he used the force Makabe was using in his attack to tilt his blade vertically causing Makabes sword to go to the ground then Ren used the hilt of the wooden weapon to forcefully bash Makabes helmet off in one hit.

As the helmet went flying through the air every sound left the building because instead of seeing the face of a man they all saw the face of a teenage girl with silver long hair and dark purple eyes.

Ren then started walking away.

When seeing Ren walk away the girl stands up and yells "WHAT YOUR NOT GONNA FIGHT ME ANYMORE BECAUSE IM A GIRL IS THAT IT!"

Turning around Ren says "This fight is over it's time for you to accept your loss."

"No this fights not over until I can't hold my sword or I'm lying cold on the floor!" The girl screamed.

Ren just says "This fight is over little girl."

"COWARD YOUR A COWARD THATS WHAT YOU ARE YOUR JUST A COWARD WHOS AFRAID TO FIGHT A GIRL!!" The girl yelled.

Now everything is silent there's not a single sound in the room until a hint of laughter starts to come from Ren.

The girl looks at Ren with a furious look and says "What's so funny!"

Ren still laughing says "Nothing."

Then he stop laughing and takes off his helmet and throws it on the ground and says "Alright you little brat since you want a fight so bad I'll give you one to remember me by."

The student who was supposed to say go has now come back out and once he reaches the edge of the mat he says "Ready, go!"

Makabe rushes at Ren who's still standing still and just as she get half way to him he takes off closing the distance in less than a second he hits her sword to the side then tilts his sword horizontally and jabs her as hard as he can in the stomach with the hilt of the sword causing her to hit the mat completely unconscious.

20 minutes later

After they got Makabe off of the mat Ren and Kai started their match.

"Ready, Go!" The student yells as both Ren and Kai dash at each other.

Kai first tries to stop Rens momentum with the same move Ren used on Makabe but Ren dodges. Then Ren slashed at Kais left side which Kai blocked as well.

5 minutes later

Both Ren and Kai are both worn out from fighting to long as they both are drenched in sweat from head to toe they can barely see so Ren takes off his mask like he did last time and Kai did the same. As both of them hold their swords up both of them at the same time charge at full speed for one last attack as both of them with all the strength they had left swung their swords a loud bang happened as soon as their swords met each other. Both of them now facing away from one another are now holding broken sticks. That final attack of theirs snapped both swords in half.

After seeing what they had done they both collapsed from exhaustion.

Looking at the roof Kai says "You know Ryuuichi your not half bad."

Also looking at the roof Rin said "You either."

Kai then said "hey from now on you should call me by my first name."

Still looking at the roof Ren said "Alright Kai but you should call me by my first name as well."

"What is your first name?" Kai said.

"It's Rin." he said right before he passed out.
