When you try to forget someone you love it never works because they are always engraved on your heart, it's permanently written in stone. The good and bad memories that you share don't disappear into thin air, the words that were spoken cannot be unsaid. The amazing life you build together, memories, friends and family that have been merged by you. It cannot be forgotten.

It felt like they had forgotten me. The moments with Alain as an older sister messing with my little brother, pizza and beers with Romeo, spending some calm quiet time with Angel. They had forgotten it all. It was as if the past had never happened and they all had new clean slates.

I was at their party, spending time socialising with the rest of the pack like I normally do at social events. As I was about to talk to Alana, she looked me in the eyes with a face of disgust and walked away. I tried with Alain and then the other guys but they all did the same.

I, in tears, ran out of the weird spotless clearing. The gold gates at the front of the grass are wide open, welcoming me to leave whenever I wanted and I want to leave now.

I ran as fast as I could and never stopped running until I reached an old broken down bar, my friends wouldn't step foot anywhere near and definitely not in a place like this.

The blinding luminous red lights that spelt out The Round Hog flickered and for a moment or two went out. It is a dump, exactly where I want to be right now.

I walk into the crumbling bar, immediately smelling cheap ale and lit cigarettes, it would definitely take a while to get the smell of cigarette smoke out of my hair.

I sit at the bar, placing my clutch on the fading water-marked wood and ignoring the catcalling unmated wolves and human men around me. The bartender asked me what I wanted, not wanting to sound as picky as I actually was I asked for a pint of beer. It is the worst service ever but it left me some time to think.

The pint of an orange coloured liquid is literally dumped in front of me, the foam flowing over the bucket of a glass. I took my first tiny sip, pulling a very unladylike face as the beer reached my taste buds.

After the third or fourth sip of the disgusting liquid, it started to taste decent, it wasn't anywhere near as nice as champagne or even Angel's dad's aged scotch that burned your throat but it numbed the pain slightly.

" Miss..." a deep raspy voice awoke me from some really horrible thoughts, I recognised that voice. It is dark and mysterious with a hint of sarcasm and drenched in sex. It is Sylver's Betas voice and I know it.

"Yes? How can I help you?" I replied confidently, acting as I had never met him.

It may not be the best approach at the situation but it is better than screaming a name at someone who is technically a complete stranger.

"You dropped your bag, Miss. You should be more careful. A pretty darling like you walking around these treacherous streets at night without a purse or phone is not the best thing around these parts. That's a Louis Vuitton, you probably have more at home but that's a special edition." The light-haired man chuckled, he had a more of a Texas accent.

If you heard his voice you would think a cowboy hat and a horse came along after. I am shocked at the fashion knowledge this man had, the guys never knew anything unless it came to what cufflinks matched with what suit.

"Yes. It is a special edition, you have a good eye for fashion. Not many men would know their Louis from their Gucci. Well, I'm not really from around this part of town. Thank you, most men would have taken it." I thanked him.

" I'm not like most men, well at least I hope I'm not. I'm Alex Joseph Fawn." He introduced himself and I took it as an informal introduction from the lack of his title.

" I'm Esmerelda Ophelia Lopez." I introduced myself while holding out my hand for him to shake which he took with a happy smile.

"I know who you are." He sighed back onto the barstool, his fingers drumming random music on the bar. "You are Sylver's mate."

"What? No... How?" I stumbled for words, confused at how he could know something like that.

"Don't try pulling the that is a lie bullshit." He started at me sternly, making my wolf bow down in submission from his higher ranking. "I know Sylver and he's changed ever since he met you so I put two and two together and there you are."

"It doesn't matter anyway, he doesn't want me."

"Don't be so sure about that." He tapped his nose as if holding a secret.

"Well, shouldn't you be at the alpha ceremony by now being the beta and all." I reminded Alex, checking my watch to see that I should be there by now.

"I wish we had longer but you are right pretty darling, I'll see you around Esmeralda Lopez." He grabbed his rugged leather jacket from the back of the wooden barstool, carelessly throwing it over his shoulder. It hung on by a single flimsy finger tip.

" I'll see you around Alex Fawn." I imitated, looking back down at my half-drunk orange pint. I heard the wind chimes at the top of the bar door chime and then the revving of an old-sounding truck. Three long minutes slowly passed and then all was silent again except for the shouting of the old alcoholic men.

An old football game played on the old block tv, cheers from the drunken men could be heard every time something I assumed was good happened. I didn't understand it at all but I cheered along with them, getting into the spirit of the townspeople. It felt good to be normal for five minutes of the day, to have no worries and no drama going on.

🐺 - The alpha ceremony starts in five minutes if we don't go then we aren't considered part of the pack. We need to give a drop of our blood and our loyalty to mate.

👩🏻 - I'm going now, stop being such a pup.

I know Delilah's right so I grab my bag and my flimsy coat and walk back up to the full clearing. My feet are burning hurting and my head is pounding but I make it there in just enough time to be in the lineup.

One by one we make it to the stage, each giving a drop of blood and the oath of loyalty. Soon it's my turn and I walk upon the stage where my gorgeous ass of a mate is standing in a classic black suit. He grins at me before coming to stand before me.

"Do you, Esmerelda Ophelia Lopez promise to be loyal and true to your newest Alpha, Alpha Sylver Jae?" My mate boomed at me, standing with a knife in his hand ready to cut mine.

"I, Esmerelda Ophelia Lopez, pledge my full trust and loyalty to my newest Alpha, Alpha Sylver Jae." I recited what we had learned in school millions of time, inside not feeling the truth in my words.

Sylver nodded in acknowledgement of my words, I bowed my head in submission to my new Alpha. He pulls the knife to my palm, slicing it quickly and pulling a bowl to collect the blood. He does the same to his hand and his blood bonds with mine, sending my insides into a fluttering mess.

As I was about to leave the bowl exploded into millions of pieces of china, the blood now a silver glowing on the floor. A bright white light hovering over it before the ball of light turns black and the blood smokes until it's gone.

Well that's never happened before.
