1 Chapter 1 - The Dorm

His arms feel numb as Win carries a box full of his belongings with his right hand while dragging a trolley bag full of his clothes with the other.

Win let's out a sigh and drops the bag he is carrying on the floor. He glares at the stairs, as if that would help him carry his things up to the next floor.

Scratching his head, he exhales as a sign of defeat. He reaches for his bag and carries it up to the next floor, leaving the box.

It was impossible to carry both at once, unless he wants to risk having an accident.

On his way up, Win is pissed as to why the dorm didn't have any elevator when it has five floors. It is not only inconvenient but time consuming as well. Not that he could do anything about it though, it was a school owned building so complaining will not do him any good.

Besides, it was his fault why he has to move to the school dormitory anyway. If only he didn't give his apartment keys to Gulf, he would  not be chased out off the building.

But what's done is done and Gulf is apologetic to what had happened, so there was no reason to hold a grudge against him.

After arriving at the third floor, where his room is located, Win grunts as he lifts up his box. The corridor is empty, the students living in the dorm are probably still at school for their late afternoon classes or hanging out elsewhere.

The only sound Win could hear is the squeaky rolling of his trolley against the concrete floor of the hall.

When he arrives at the door of his room, which was at the very end of the hall, he reaches for his keys and opens the door.

He hurriedly drops down the box and makes his way to his bed. He breaths out as he lay in the comfort of his sheets, relaxing his exhausted hands.

He can't believe Gulf didn't even show up to help him moving to the school dorm. He was supposed to be his friend and was supposed to be guilty because now, Win has to live in the school dorm.

He waves off the thought and instantly felt sleepy.

Before he dozes off, he hears the soft strumming of a guitar. It's music seem to fill the emptiness of the halls.

Win opens his eyes and stares at the window of his room. The sky is bruised with red streaks blending with the bright yellow hue from the setting sun.

The window is closed, yet he could feel a soft breeze caressing his cheeks, a whisper in his ear. It was the music from the guitar that gives him this melancholic feeling.

When the music stops, Win jumps up from his bed and runs to the door leading to the balcony. He grips the door handle tightly and pushes the door open.

When he steps out in the balcony, he could see a guitar being dragged inside from the balcony in the room beside his.

It was disappointing that he didn't get a glimpse of whoever was playing the guitar, he hopes he did because it was beautiful. If he stepped out the moment he heard the guitar strumming, he might have seen who was playing it.

It is a good thing that the person who is playing the guitar lives nextdoor, that means they will encounter each other often.

After Win tidied up his room, placing all his clothes in the cabinet, changing the sheets in the bed with a creamy white color from its dull gray which Win himself prefers, and organizing his desk, he heard a knock on the door.

Win reaches for the handle, but before he could fully open the door Gulf barges in holding plastic bags with both hands. One was filled with cans of beer and the other with snacks.

"What's that for?" Win asks as he reaches for the plastic bags.

Gulf replied with a confused look. "Of course, for welcoming you to your new dorm" he replies sounding as if it was the most obvious thing.

Sing and Lily who was just behind Gulf enters the dorm as well.

"Are you okay? You look exhausted" Sing asks as she embraces Win.

"Of course I will be, I had to carry my stuff up to here alone because you all didn't show up. Especially you, Gulf" Win turns his attention to gulf who was beginning to open a can of beer, "You're the reason why I have to move here and you didn't help me move."

Gulf puts his hands together, "I thought you already forgave me for it?"

"I did, but why didn't you help me move?"

"I wanted to, but I also had to buy all these stuff to celebrate you moving here."

Of course it was nothing but an excuse, knowing Gulf he would never intended to help Win moving and Win knew that pretty well.

Gulf offers Win a can of beer, "But we're here now and that's what matters"

"That's the problem, you're here now. All of you. You know girls are not allowed in the boys dorm, right? Do you want me to get kicked out of here as well?" Win accepts the can, but no way will he give up this argument.

Eventually, they moved outside the dorm and continued to celebrate at an unoccupied gazebo near the Engineering building.

It is already dark and the gazebo they chose is poorly lit, so it was safe drinking alcoholic drinks to not be noticed by any passing faculty.

"It's a good thing that there was still a vacant room in the school dorm, since were already in the middle of the semester." Lily says as she reaches for the chips.

"Yes, I'm probably lucky. The senior who occupies the room dropped from school so it was empty for a month."

"By the way, you still haven't told us the story why you were chased out from your apartment" Sing who is getting a bit drunk pipped in. Her voice sounds groggy from the alcohol.

"I'll tell you. This is what happened" Gulf half excitedly chimes in.

The reason why Win was chased out was because he had to go home for the weekend. He left his apartment keys to Gulf because he was convinced that Gulf had to borrow his notes which he left in his apartment.

The notes was of course a lie, and Gulf just needed a place where he could host a party on that disastrous weekend night. Not only did Gulf host a party that night but also invited a huge crowd that he himself was unable to handle.

The party was great, there was a disco lights in the ceiling and countless of cans scattered on the floor. The repercussion, though, not so good.

All the room owner in the same floor was complaining of the noise and the bodies of unconscious teenagers lying on the hall who were too drunk to realize where they were.

When Win came back the weekday afterwards, all his things were packed and was placed outside the door of his room. The owner told him to find a new place to stay.

Win stayed a week in Gulf's apartment while finding a new place to stay.

***

When Win came back to his dorm room, it was already past 9, and he still hasn't eaten anything aside from the crips and beer.

Too tired and too drunk, Win plops down in his bed and stares at the window. The luminous moon is full, and it's silver streaks creates a rainbow reflection in the glass of the window.

It is then when the strumming of the guitar started. The melody dances in the air in a gentle twirl that sounded soft and pleasant.

Unable to contain his curiosity, Win runs to the balcony and sees Bright.

His dark hair glistens with the silver touch of moonlight. His well chiseled jaws emphasized in his silhouette.

Bright stops strumming and turns to Win who was at the balcony beside his.

Their eyes met.

Win's cheeks still red because of the alcohol and his hair rugged from lying in the bed. He looks so pure with the dim lit balcony.

Bright smiles at him.
