2 The Lonesome Wolf

Another day starts quietly in Nimrod manor as it looms over the dense forest at the northern part of X city . Built during the 1800's, it boast a total of 35 bed rooms held within three floors across nearly 40 000 square feet where each quarter is connected with an en suite bathroom.

The bricks this colossal property is built from holds their own shared piece of history from its conception, to the change of its Lords throughout the years and across the ruthless passage of time. This large estate covers around 500 000 acres of vegetation that is rich with varied produce.

Any person with an appraising eye could say this is a historical piece of land matched with an astronomical value. It was even featured in a famous magazine as one of the most expensive property with its revenue at over 800 million dollars.

The masters of Nimrod manor has always been someone from the prominent Carter family that has its roots way back where the monarchy rules. You can say that they are royalty even when the current governance is democratic and has abolished the authority of the crown.

The Carter family was able to retain its power through their great adaptability and masterful innovation in the field of technology spearheaded by the visionary Stephen Carter. At just the age of 32 years, he made astounding breakthrough in the cyber industry which includes but is not limited to communications and healthcare.

This was made possible because Stephen holds degrees on engineering, business management and programming. His talent is evident that he was made the patriarch earlier than his precedents. He is always ranked among the best be it a business or engineering magazine.

Aside from that, he is one of the most sought after bachelor. Who wouldn't want a man who is both intelligent, successful and a master of the sheets? Though the latter is still up for discussion, a great number of men and women are already convinced.

A careful knock sounded through a thick, oak wood door which leads through the master suite at the manor's third floor. "Come in," Stephen answered in a deep, resonant voice.

Butler John Davis couldn't help but feel shaken by the power of a voice alone. If the monarchy is still in effect, there was no doubt in his mind this man would be a King.

The more he thought about it, the more he wants to see him with a woman. He has grown tired of the cold and silent castle. Butler Davis longs to hear children's laughter and Stephen smiling contentedly. It has been too long already. He wishes his master to be in love soon before all his hair has gone away.

His current master, Stephen Carter, seems to be a lonesome wolf. "How amazing would the woman be to tame his vicious master?," he thought ruefully and opens the door swiftly while pushing a food cart in.

" Good Morning, Master Carter. Your breakfast is already prepared. Would you like me to set it up on the terrace or the study?," Davis asked succinctly.

" The weather seems warm today. Why not set it at the terrace?," Stephen rumbles as he fixes the cuff links in his suit. He wore a fitted grey Armani which complements his towering 6 foot height and highlights the lean, well built physique he possess.

The Carter family has a good set of genes apparently inherited by Stephen as he was blessed by luscious, silky strands of brown hair, which seems to be golden in the warm glow of the morning sun, that is framing his face and accentuates his bluish green eyes that changes its hue depending on his mood. He walks over the room's terrace, sits down and reads the news while waiting for the breakfast to be ready.

Butler Davis proceeds to set a table in the terrace and carefully arranges the simple dishes that consists of waffles made with the freshest ingredients paired with almond butter and a fluffy scrambled egg. The sides includes a variety of fruits from the manor's harvest just this morning and a piping hot brewed coffee.

Stephen hums approvingly. He was never a picky eater and would rather choose the healthy, less fancy alternatives than waste money on foods glittered with gold that he never knew existed until he read it from the web yesterday. What has the world come to?

Sometimes, he feels sad on the direction humans choose to evolve. He always believes that people should at least contribute on how the world will thrive. They should help society meaningfully than make some fancy foods for the rich.

The world is set to let the strongest survive and he is proud to be the one at the top. Noticing that the table is already done, he folds the newspaper and puts it aside. Stephen sips a bit of coffee first then gestures for Davis to start his daily report.

"Congratulations, Young Master. You have been included in the list as one of the best CEO in Business Journals. Because of this, the overall company profit is greater than 10% compared with the previous month. Today at 9 a.m., meeting with the new staffs of the programming department is scheduled.

May I also remind you that the charity gala is set to be Wednesday next week, other details were already sent to your email and a notice is already added in your schedule. Ron has also been made aware of these changes and he's already finalizing the venue, attendees and the media who will cover the event. He's at the office working at it as we speak.

For choosing the charities to be supported though, there seems to be problem. A list still needs to be finalized," Davis informs him.

" Get Ron to speed it up and tell him to fire the one responsible for the delay," he spoke devoid of emotion and continued to finish the hearty meal.

Butler Davis nodded , made a mental note of it and struggled to continue with what he was supposed to say. Stephen noted his hesitation and waited for him to continue. He has known him for a long time. John Davis was more than just a butler. He was his personal assistant, mentor, uncle, confidant and a father figure in times his own was not.

He saw Davis sigh deeply. "Your mother called," he spoke fast but Stephen still heard it. He placed the cutlery down. The hue of his eyes seem to show his emotions as it changes to a deep blue color. The place was eerily silent and even the morning sun seems a bit colder as Stephen gets his anger controlled.

"What does she wants now?," he asked with an arctic chill. His mother never really called unless she needs something from him.

The woman only remembers him as a tool for her social climbing.

"She asks if you are available for coffee tomorrow"

"No, my week is packed. I'm done. Prepare the car," Stephen stood up, got his suit jacket then strode off rapidly down the steps and entered the waiting car at the manor's entrance.

The morning has gone to waste. As he travels to his office, he can't help but feel like a storm is brewing or is it just Monday blues?
