The Dami Inn

Currently, Damien was walking through the streets of Cunia City. Yes, he had a destination in mind, but he wanted to first test out the system's capabilities.

"So, System, how do I use this 'Value Vision' skill?"

[Host is to to verbalize the skill's name.]

"Got it," Damien paused, before saying, "Value Vision."

Suddenly, the world around him changed. The previously seen myriad of colors had disappeared, and became black and white. And, above every object in sight, including the pavement below his feet, the wheels on surrounding vehicles, and the body parts of those around him, was a number.

"System... I don't really see a need to know the value of each and every little thing as of right now, is there someway to generalize it?"

[Host's request granted, "Value Vision" will now decide value based upon the combine value of all things pertaining to the overarching subject matter.]

"Awesome."

The world changed again, except, instead of looking like some sort of matrix, it was much less cluttered. He saw people that were considered to be worth millions, and others worth not even a single dollar. But, he noticed something peculiar.

"Hey, System, can you let me see MY value when I look into a reflective surface?"

As it was right now, Damien could only see the value of the windows he looked into, and not his own.

[Request denied, host's priority level not high enough.]

"Priority level? The hell?"

[A mere partner will not receive access to data that only the CEO's eyes can see.]

Damien stopped walking, and thought that it made sense. This system was too impressive to not have, well, an owner. Realistically though, it didn't matter. His data would only be of use to the system's boss when he destroyed the Fortuno family- effectively taking over the world.

'Before then, I'll end this partnership.'

Surprisingly, the system didn't respond to that thought. Maybe ending the partnership was something that it wanted to- either way, Damien profited.

"Ah, we've almost arrived."

Because Damien was heir to the Fortuno business, almost every single property of his was under the Fortuno family name. Still, he had one business that was his, and his only. Of course, his father knew about this business, so it couldn't be considered the safest place.

'Still, that bastard didn't kill me, so I'm still of use to him... I'm safe for the time being,' Damien thought. Talon Value Fortuno, Damien's father, would simply get rid of an asset that brought him losses- whether that asset was family or not.

"Ah! I've arrived."

Damien was standing in front of a rather tall building, it stood hundreds of feet tall, and comprised of 46 floors. Although it hadn't even been half of the size of the Fortuno Tower, it was still an impressive piece of architecture.

'The five star inn, the Dami Inn! Ah, my naming sense is magnificent...'

Damien would normally go through the front door, but doing so would attract attention that he couldn't handle as of right now. It was better for everyone to think that he was living comfortably in Fortuno Tower.

"So, lets go through the back."

As Damien turned to the side of the Inn building, he noticed that the sides of the building weren't at all clean. In fact, it looked as if the staff were only keeping the front of the building presentable.

"Disgusting... this isn't Dami Inn at all..."

When Damien founded the company behind Dami Inn, their very goal was to bring more cleanliness to the hotel industry. But, what he was seeing now, wasn't clean at all!

He continued walking in disgust until he reached the back of the building. Garbage bags were lined up against the inn's back wall, and the backdoor's door handle had remained unpolished.

'Disgusting, disgusting, disgusting...'

Retrieving a hanckerchief from his coat pocket, Damien move aside a trash bag and opened the door. What he saw, disgusted him beyond reprieve. Actually, the backdoor directly lead to the inn's kitchen the area, as the first floor was used for the multiple food-facilities (and reception, of course).

"Why are none of you wearing gloves? Where are your hair nets? I thought Dami Inn had a mask policy too!" Damien shouted.

At that moment, every single chef, dish cleaner, and server turned to the noise. If Damien had a skill for reading minds, he'd be hearing a collective "fuck!"

One brave chef, however, turned towards Damien and asked, "And who might you be?"

"Value Vision."

"What?"

At that moment, Damien had activated his skill, and took note of the value of each of the kitchen staff, and said simply, "I am your boss's boss."

Damien saw that the brave chef's value was above everyone else's, and believed that he was the kitchen's head chef.

'Boss's boss? Why not say his na-'

Struck with realization, the head chef simply ran over the Damien, cusped his hands together, and immediately became submissive.

"The staff, I included, didn't know about these regulations, sir!"

"It's a part of the job... bring me to the inn manager, immediately."

In order to meet the inn's manager, the head chef had to bring Damien to floor 46. Not only was this a long ride via elevator, but it also required permission.

The head chef walked over to the receptionist, albeit in a hurry, and requested that she get the boss on the phone.

"This better be good."

"Y-yes, boss! Mr. F is in the building!"

"What?! Bring him here, immediately!"

After saying her piece, the inn manager hung up.

The head chef strode over to Damien, who was waiting in the kitchen, and said, "Sir, I can bring you to floor 46 now."

"Good. At least Jessica isn't so blind that she would deny me access to MY office."

"Uh... yes. Please follow me."

As he said that, the head chef walked away, his stomach bouncing about as he did.

*Ding!*

"Floor 46," a robotic voice sounded in the elevator.

"We need to upgrade this damn thing. Slow as hell," Damien said.

"I agree, sir."

Damien looked at the chef, saying, "Are you saying my inn's technology is faulty?"

"N-no!"

'I love teasing idiots.'

During this short exchange, the head chef was leading Damien to the inn manager's office. Floor 46 comprised of Damien's personal suite, the inn manager's suite, and the inn manager's office. Damien had no qualms being on the same floor as Jessica, the inn manager. Afterall, she was rich! And rich woman had more opportunities to be beautiful! So Jessica was beautiful!

"Come in."

Damien opened the door to her office. The office was decorated plainly, and the perfect space for retaining focus. The head chef wasn't allowed beyond this point, and simply returned to the kitchen.

"Oh? So you can order me around now?" Damien asked.

"You jest, Young Master."

"Jessica, I've been removed from the Fortuno family. From now on, I am not 'Young' Master."

"Oh? About time, Master," Jessica replied, quite concisely. She knew about all of Damien's misdeeds, as did everyone else in Cunia City. It wasn't much of a surprise that he was removed from the prestigious family.

"Good. Now, we need to talk about how you've run this inn of mine into the ground.
