Earth, 2033

07:28

It was a day like any other day here on earth for the past few weeks. Outside only the sounds of bombs hitting the city again and completely destroying it. In addition, the hissing of fighter jets can be heard continuously, flying over the houses and being dismantled into thousands of individual parts in the air by much better armed and different-looking UFOs.

As so often lately, I'm sitting in my bed and playing with my smartphone, what else should I do? Playing soccer outside might not be the best idea. So I decided to play a few games to pass the time, because I don't have much left.Because outside a war is raging between all world powers on earth against some spaceships of extraterrestrials.

It all started two months ago. Nobody expected that suddenly several small spaceships would enter the earth's atmosphere and immediately begin to destroy entire cities on the entire earth. But despite the advanced weapons the aliens have, they have not yet succeeded in suppressing the resistance movements of the various countries. However, it looks like the earth will soon run out of defenses.

The war has thrown everything into chaos and our children's home is also slowly running out of food. And before I throw myself to my death outside, I prefer to stay at home.

Two weeks later:

Date: 04.06.2033

Time: 08:12

It was Saturday and, surprisingly, a quiet one. Because for whatever reason, the last time the aliens attacked was over a week ago. To celebrate this, our supervisor decided to make pancakes. Pancakes are delicious so I have nothing against it, but I suspect that the aliens are coming back and these spaceships only served as a vanguard and to test the combat strength.

Still, I took the pancakes as a favorite distraction and gleefully devoured them one after the other. But my mood changed very quickly when I heard the words of my supervisor.

"Paul, I don't know how to tell you, but you have been adopted and I couldn't say no because he had paid so much."

She tells me as she bursts into tears. It didn't help to comfort her, but I tried my best anyway.

"It's not that bad and you urgently need the money."

It won't be that bad and soon we'll all be dead or slaves anyway. So why not give the people here in the orphanage some nice days.

"He's coming over soon, so you'd better wear something good."

So after dinner I went to put on my best clothes. I didn't have that much choice anyway, so I ended up with my only clean blue jeans and a regular white t-shirt in the living room. It didn't take long to wait and the doorbell rang.

I strolled to the door and paused again before turning the doorknob. Everything will be fine Paul you can do it, I encouraged myself and opened the door with a friendly smile.
