9 Plot

Hey guys,

I think this chapter is going to be short...

I really can't be bothered today...

The creepy giant man stood up from his throne and began to walk towards me.

*Clap**Clap**Clap*

Clapping sounds filled the room.

'What a brilliant display!' the man said.

His blank eyes looked at me.

That's pretty creepy, man...

'Now how are you going to repay me?'

Repay you... for what?

'Ohhh... that's right. You can't speak... Then let me open a link... wait... OK it's done'

I felt like something had connected our two minds.

[Ok... so as I was saying, how are you going to repay me?]

I felt his deep voice inside of my mind.

So this is like telepathic communication? Ok...

[Repay you for what] I replied

[For eating my children... of course... How are you going to repay you?]

[Eating your children? What do you mean. As far as I am concerned I was simply stopping an evil plot, made by some crazy psychopath.]

[Psychopath... eh... That's not the first time someone has called me that... Hey... you know, you are the first person that I have talked to in a long time. Do you want to hear a story?]

[No.]

[Let me tell you about it]

[Old man did you hear what I said?]

[Did you know that we slimes are shackled?]

[Shackled?]

From the conversation that I had so far with this old man, I decided that he was crazy...

Seriously crazy.

But I hadn't talked with someone for a long time...

No offence system...

[That's right. Every Monster species, regardless if it is slimes, griffins or even dragons have shackles! And we slimes are shackled to forever be slimes!]

[Slimes? What's wrong with being a slime... it couldn't be that you are unhappy with your own race...]

I gently put my fist onto my palm.

[I got it! Could this be the reason that you are eating those jellies?]

He looked at me strangely.

[What?] I asked

[You don't get it... We will forever be stuck as slimes! No matter what we do we will never evolve!]

[We will never evolve?]

[That's right. Do you know why we slimes are considered the weakest?]

I considered the question carefully. But I didn't know. Why were slimes considered so weak? I mean if I kill enough creatures, then won't I become super strong?

[Why?]

[We will never progress to be more than slimes!]

[What?!]

[That's right. Every monster in this whole world has something called 'evolution shackles'. These shackles mean that as soon as that monster hits that barrier they will never be able to evolve. For monsters that can't learn any new skills without evolution, this is the same as cutting our lifeline! But it is even worse for us slimes! We only have a pitiful 3 evolution, meaning that we only have 3 chances to get new skills, before we begin to stagnate! Of course we can practice... to level up our skills and get stronger... but we can't.

Seems that these guys's don't get experience from killing other monsters, like I do. They seem to need to practice...

I wonder how he would react if I told him that I could grow forever, as long as I killed...

[We can't? What do you mean?]

[Slimes are not intelligent creatures. Rather they only have instincts! Quite frankly we our both anomalies. I am surprised that one of my fellow brethren was able to develop the same amount of intelligence as me...

The rest of our race do not possess any intelligence!]

Wow... so this is the reason why none of the other slimes would talk to me...

[That's right... So about this whole evolution shackles thing... what about humans?]

Silence filled the room.

[They are detestable creatures!]

[Huh]

[Humans are the god favored race. They have intelligence and are able to build huge empires. They may not be able to evolve, but they are able to continuously get stronger, without being held back by evolution shackles. And the worst thing about them? They view monsters as simple tools to get stronger! But it won't be long... Soon I will overcome my evolution shackles and stop being a pitiful [rank 1] monster!]

[How?]

The old man pointed at the ice block that stood next to his throne.

[Inside of there is the answer to my dreams!]

I observed the ice block carefully. It was quite odd. Most ice that you see would be see through. But this block wan't. Instead it was covered in a hazy white haze. Inside of the haze I could see it... a small shadow.

[What is it?]

[Its a higher tier monster. Not some average monster... no something much greater. Inside of there is an extremely powerful ancient creature! Once I absorb it, I will overpower my Evolution shackles and evolve into something greater!]

[So why don't you do it?]

[Why do you think? It's because I am not powerful enough! I tried to absorb it, but even then the monster hiding in there resisted me, even though it has long perished!]

What the fuck is wrong with this psychopath...

[Is that why you are absorbing those jellies? So that you can get stronger and absorb whatever the hell is in that ice?]

[Yes!]

[You fucking psychopath...]

[Don't you dare mock my convictions... you don't know the pain that I have endured... You don't have any idea...]

[So just because you are in 'pain' at not being able to evolve, you want to kill and absorb jellies]

[Enough! You don't know anything! I absorbed them to get strong enough to evolve. I will become stronger and then I can lead our race to a better beginning!]

This guy was a serious nut-job...

The man looked at me, recollected from his previous outburst.

[Now I am going to ask you to repay me for eating my children...]

[How?]

[Let me absorb you and gain your power. Then I will be strong enough to win against the ancient creature and transcend to greater heights!]

[Sorry man... I mean I would love to help you and all, but I am sort of busy... Could you point me to the exit please?]

As much as I though what this guy was doing was wrong, I was no saint. I can't stop him from wanting power. And I guess that this what this world is about. The strong eat the weak and the weak are enslaved to strong.

If I went around helping anyone I saw, wouldn't it be endless? It would be so much easier to just do what I want...

As for loving battle? My thirst for battle had been dried out after that battle with those slimes... Before I go out and fight, I have to first find out much more about the monsters and humans of this world.

After all, intelligence is strength...

[I am sorry... but you are not leaving!]

[What... come on! i won't interfere man, just go and absorb those jellies and eat that super strong creature and evolve. Just continue doing whatever you want to do!]

[I am afraid that that is no longer possible. It is taking far too long... I thirst for power right now! Your arrival couldn't have been any better!]

[You sure you want to do this?]

The man began to walk towards me, slowly. His blue skin shone, as the crystals shone.

[I will take that as a yes...]

I linked my tongue in anticipation. Although I don't have a tongue...

That's right. I have no facial features. I look at the man, or should I say giant getting ever closer.

What would happen if I absorbed him? Wouldn't I get a voice and a face...
