1 Chapter 1:Goblins!!

Shiva was a bright and cheerful boy living with his small family in Nepal. But his life changed forever when goblins which he had only seen or heard about in movies or novels appeared out of nowhere and started attacking his hometown. The gruesome scene of goblins slaughtering the people he used to know scared the heck out of him.

He was going out for an evening walk with his sister when he saw this scene. He used to read all types of fantasy novels and stuff. So, it didn't take him any longer to figure out what was happening. But he couldn't imagine that this would one day happen to him out of nowhere. It was wrong to think like that but he was getting excited as he had lived a dull life until now.

He was an engineering student who was fed up completely with his boring life. He was already 20 and he still had no girlfriend. Heck, he still hadn't even talked to a girl before. He was a complete otaku who spent his time reading manga, novels, or such things imagining himself as the protagonist. He was excited very much now that he found himself in the situation, he always imagined him to be in.

So, he didn't lose his cool at all. He hugged his sister and calmed her down while himself looking at the goblins chasing people. His eyes didn't show any fear or excitement anymore as he started to feel the rage. There were 5 small-sized ugly-faced brown goblins chasing people. After killing all the people nearby, one of the goblins saw Shiva and ran towards him with its thin body. It had a small sword in its hands.

Shiva was startled when he saw a goblin running towards him. He became fearful as he knew what the goblin wanted. Knowing what was happening and accepting the situations were two different things. Though he took everything that happened easily as these scenes were common in nowadays stories, accepting them and fighting the monsters were completely different things. His mind went blank even though the goblin was smaller in size compared to him.

Despite himself being 1.8m tall, he couldn't prepare himself to fight the 1.4m tall goblin. Him being a non-violent boy all his life, he wasn't ready to fight nonetheless a monster. He thought back to what the protagonists would do in this time if they were here instead of him. He then thought about his sister. He had to save her. So, he prepared himself for a fight as he knew that he couldn't avoid it. He looked around for anything he could use to fight the goblin.

"Relax, It's just a chibi. I can defeat it pretty easily if I put myself to it." He started to encourage himself.

(Chibi means shorty in Japanese.)

When the goblin neared him, Shiva picked a pointed stone near him. He put his sister behind him and urged her to move backward and be careful. He concentrated his all on the goblin. It swung its sword horizontally as if it wanted to cut him into two pieces. Shiva quickly dodged the blow by squatting. The strike cut some of his hair which sent a chill down his spine. This attack just made him believe that what he was seeing was more than real. It was really happening. He lunged forward at the goblin and he attacked it with the stone without thinking anything.

Chop

He chopped and chopped with his eyes closed. He calmed down after some time. The goblin was already dead and its body was starting to disappear.

"Ha-ha I did it. I killed it. Ha-ha". Shiva was exhilarated.

He looked towards the dead goblin and its disappearing body. It dropped the sword it was carrying and a small circular-brown crystal.

Beat

His heart was beating very fast probably because of the fight or because he was scared.

When he saw the sword, adrenaline rose in his body. He picked it up and rushed at the remaining goblins. The four goblins finally saw that their companion was killed and they rushed toward Shiva.

So, when Shiva saw the four goblins heading towards him as if they would tear him apart if they caught him, he was scared. His excitement and adrenaline all disappeared instantly. He felt as if a whole army was chasing him down. But still thinking about his sister, he calmed himself down. He felt that they weren't much stronger and faster than him when he fought the previous goblin. He prepared himself mentally and lunged towards them.

He dodged the first strike and then the second. As he was the most agile among them, he bypassed the first three goblins and he reached the last one. Thinking that e would be in a bad predicament if his sword got stuck at the goblin's body, he swung the sword horizontally at its neck. And the next instant three goblins, a human, and a headless body could be seen in the middle of the road.

"Number 2."

Shiva was excited when he got a clean cut. He liked this feeling. It was very different from how he used to feel. He didn't waste any time as there were still 3 more goblins to go. He turned back and saw a strike coming towards him. He tried to dodge it but it still grazed him at his waist.

"Argh. That hurts bloody motherfucker"

Shiva cursed for the first time in his life. Blood was seeping out from his waist. It wasn't a deep cut but still, it hurt him. He used to be a normal boy so getting his first cut wasn't a good feeling at all.

He backed down a bit to create a distance between them. He became very cautious. But only 2 attacked him and the remaining one moved towards his sister. This scene agitated him a lot. He ran toward the duo and picked the 2nd sword and slashed the duo with both hands at the same time. His right-handed strike was successful but his left-handed strike was parried. He wasn't demoralized as he swung his freed right hand towards it and killed it successfully.

Rachana was very scared right now. She didn't know that her evening walk would turn out to be so terrifying. She looked towards her brother who looked so cool slaying the goblins. As the children of the modern age, she also started to calm down seeing her brother fight. But she felt her world shaken when Shiva was hurt. She picked a stone from her side and threw it at one of them. It hit the goblin and it looked towards her. Its gaze was so frightening that it sent chills down her spine. She was so scared that she fell on the road on her butt.

The goblin started to run towards her with its sword-swinging right and left. When it was in front of her, it stopped suddenly and fell down. When she observed it carefully, she could see a sword piercing its head.

When Shiva saw the goblin nearing his sister, he didn't know what to do and he threw his sword. The sword flew straight and hit its head completely.

Beat…Beat…Beat

Shiva couldn't calm down his beating heart. He looked around to see if there were more. He didn't see anything other than piles of dead bodies and then he moved towards his sister. She was still shaking from fear.

He hugged her and consoled her. He looked around and saw 3 swords and another crystal. He remembered that one could absorb these crystals and grow stronger. So, he collected them and ate the cores one by one. He soon discovered that these brown cores had a healing effect as his injuries began to heal and after some time, nothing remained. There wasn't even a scratch left. Shiva became happy that his wound healed otherwise it could have been dangerous. Then he didn't waste a single moment and headed back to the village with his sister.

When they reached the village, they could see the chaos. Most of them looked scared, some were running carrying sickles, kukris, etc. Shiva looked around and saw his father looking calm compared to others.

Ram used to be in the Indian army. So, he took the situation more easily than the villagers and he calmed them down. He instructed them to tune in on the news for further instruction.

Ram saw Shiva and Rachana walking towards him and he looked very concerned.

"Are you two, okay? Did you see anything outside? You shouldn't be going out of the village anymore." He was scared as well as angry.

It wasn't easy being the only parent of two children. He loved them very dearly.

"I am sorry, dad. I didn't know something like this would happen either. But don't worry dad, we are fine. Why fear when I am here." Shiva said to his dad in All-might's pose.

"Did you see the monsters?" Ram asked. He didn't know that Shiva had already killed 5 goblins.

"You didn't see dad; brother was so awesome." Rachana wanted to tell her dad what had happened.

But Shiva gestured her to remain silent. This movement didn't escape Ram's eyes but he didn't say anything to it. There was so much going out there for him to be focusing on child's games.

"Alright. That's enough playing. Go home and watch what is happening. And don't stroll around anymore like today." Ram instructed them in a military fashion.

Shiva and Rachana headed to their home and Shiva went to his room after instructing his sister not to tell dad about the recent happenings.

Shiva was thinking about what actually happened this afternoon. He opened Facebook to figure out the situation. And the instant he logged into his account, he discovered that the internet was in chaos right now with all the things happening all over the world.
