5 Chapter 4: Understanding or Fighting

P.O.V Darren

I heard a knock at the door of our ground-floor apartment. We were living here because we had no money to spend on other big places. This was just a two-room apartment whose condition was unexplainable.

I hopped out of the couch and walked towards the door to welcome the newcomer.

"Hello!" Opening the door, I set a huge toothy smile on my face. She wasn't happy to see me. Well, I was aware why, and of course, she shouldn't be. She just stared at me blankly and didn't answer.

"Umm... 'How are you?' will be much better, right?" I again tried to open her mouth, but nope, nothing came out.

"Uh... Hey, Leo, check this, who's at the door!" I called Leo just to tease her. After all, he scared her last night. She was still looking at me but with every passing second, her eyes were giving a hint of rising anger, rising red.

"Yes, who's it?" Leo came out and asked blankly.

"I don't think you need me to introduce her to you." They exchanged glances for a split second. Leo was not very pleased to see her. She kidnapped his only lovely brother, and I have all the right to brag about the way Leo scared her for that.

"Hmm... Now what?" He shrugged, looking back at me.

"What what? Aren't you gonna greet her?"

"Why should I greet her?" As expected from Leo. "By the way, ask her to come in, or Caitlin will kick you out."

"No, Caitlin won't do anything. I've done something even better with which this girl won't go anywhere." I winked at him. He raised an eyebrow.

"You can go inside now. Your work of giving her your precious glimpse is over. Now, I'll manage." I grinned. He looked at me for a second, and then after rolling his eyes, left us.

"Sooo... Are you coming inside, or not?" I shifted my grin towards her. She raised her eyebrows and frowned.

"Hey, come on now. Your things are safe." I didn't try to hide my big smile which was slowly turning into laughter. It was getting wider and wider. "Safe like...safe. Safe and sound. Like... really really safe."

"They should be, or you are going to bear the consequences." Ohh... Thank Goodness! She finally spoke.

"Don't worry." I was trying not to laugh out loud. Literally, I was about to burst out laughing. "Come inside." Stepping aside, I let her come in. She glared at me one last time and stepped inside.

In the living room, Leo was eating salad, probably made by Evelyn because she was our cook nowadays. A good one, I should admit.

"Leo, take care of our guest until I call Caitlin," I raised my voice and turned towards Caitlin's room. I didn't want to go anywhere. It was really fun teasing that red... Oh, what's her name?

After knocking at the door, I looked behind at both of them. "Sit your pretty ass down here 'pumpkin', cause I don't want to make you," Leo said. I don't understand why Leo talked to her like that? I mean, she's cute, and kidnapping me wasn't a big deal.

"Are you done building castles?" Caitlin said, and I came back to where I was standing. To reality, I mean. "What do you want?"

"I don't want anything. In fact, I have got something for you." I smiled and stepped aside to let her see that girl. The only thing I controlled myself from doing was 'Ta-Da!!!'.

"Ohh..." Caitlin smiled and walked towards her. I also came with her and sat beside Leo. He was so lost in his salad as if he was counting dollars.

"Hey. Hi, I'm Caitlin." Caitlin stretched out her hand for a handshake. 'I didn't know that Caitlin could be so sweet'. I felt upset at how coldly she treats me and Leo.

"Ah... Hi, I'm..." She hesitated a bit.

"Okay, now, come on. Say your name already!" I gave it a shake. She looked at me and that little softness in her eyes instantly disappeared.

"There's no need for being angry at them. They are born this way. You'll never understand these guys." Caitlin stopped her from saying something bad.

"Well, thank you, Caitlin, for your compliment about us," Leo said blankly still staring at his salad.

"My pleasure, Leonard Morris!" Caitlin grinned.

"Uhh... What did you just say?" That redhead said in confusion.

"What did I just say?" She puzzled Caitlin.

"Is he... Leonard Morris?" Whoa... she knows Leo. I nudged Leo, smiling mischievously. "Are they the children of Mr. Morris, who was also an anomalous man?"

"Yeah. How do you know them?" Caitlin was surely surprised.

"Actually, my dad told me a lot about Morris and Xand... Hey..." That girl practically stopped herself from jumping out of her seat in shock. "Are you both Caitlin and Evelyn, the girls with purple and yellow hair?"

"That was a little odd, but yeah, we are Xanders." This time it was Evelyn. She just came out of the kitchen.

"Whoa... That's cool."

"Well, if it's cool enough for you, can you tell us your name now?" I really wanted to know her name, because I was tired of calling her 'redhead'.

"I'm... Cathia Myles," She said this with a smile showing a dimple on her right cheek. Leo was also looking at her by now. This was the first time I saw her smiling, and I swear, she looked awesome and better than her angry side.

"Well, Cathia, let's get this straight. You know who we are, but now, you should know why we needed to find you?" Caitlin was always so straightforward.

"You wanted me?" She asked like we were kidding her for the whole time. I just didn't roll my eyes.

"You know the moon and its effects on us all, right?" Caitlin asked her.

"Umm... No. I just know that I like it, and I like it a lot." She said shrugging and looking around.

"I guess the moon doesn't like her that much." Leo chuckled at his own unwanted reply.

"Don't listen to him. We are here for a mission because the lunar eclipse is again going to happen." Caitlin explained.

"So what should we do about it? It happens every year more than once." We all looked at each other. 'Is she nuts?'

"Wait, do you know how did we get our powers?" Caitlin finally asked her.

"Well... No."

"See? I knew that we don't need her. We are just wasting our time here." Leo again interrupted.

"Why do you have him here? What do you need him for? What do you need me for? Why am I here? and..."

"Warned you before, Caitlin, she has a cognitive disturbance because of her 'mind control' powers." Leo was seriously not very much happy with her presence.

"Oh, yeah? What power do you have? Do you even know that you are a more disturbing personality?" 'Good heavens! Where are my popcorns? This is going to be a good live-fighting movie.'

"Don't provoke me 'pumpkin'. It won't be a good option to make me angry, and you will regret it soon." Leo challenged her. They both were now standing face to face.

"Right, then let me see what have you got?" She wasn't giving up. But still, I would say, she shouldn't fight with Leo, because he's a bull. 'Never thought for a second before a fight!'

"ENOUGH!!!" Suddenly, Caitlin raised her voice before they could have turned blue and red.

"You!" She pointed her finger towards Leo. "Sit back on the couch and douse your head back in your salad. And you..." She sighed and looked at Cathia. " You need to know a lot."

"Caitlin?" Evelyn called her sister with her sweet voice.

"Yeah?"

"You shouldn't have called her today. I don't think that it's a good day to talk about everything. Today's full moon and our powers are at high potentials. We shouldn't do this today, because a single verbal fight may become worse." Evelyn looked at both Cathia and Leo.

"Hmm... you're right." Rubbing her temples, Caitlin glared at Leo. "Come on, Cathia. Here is my number. Give me yours. I'll call you whenever I will think that the time is right, okay? You should believe us."

"I don't know why I'm doing this. I don't interact in a friendly manner with people," She said lowering her gaze while typing her number on Caitlin's phone.

"You are still not doing that 'friendly' thing." Leo was again chewing on his salad.

"Shut up, Leo." Caitlin walked towards the door and Cathia followed her, not before glancing at Leo.

"Bye, Cathia. It was nice seeing you." I waved my hand with a grin, fully ignored by her. I looked back at Leo who was looking at her with an unknown expression.
