1 A rainy day.

The sky opened as the water gently dripped and shattered on the ground. From its safe little haven into the streets filled with honking cars, shoes tapping on the ground, blinding street and traffic lights and muffled conversations from people. All the taxies, buses and bus stops were filled. Shops were either closed for the day or packed with people, not all necessarily customers. House doors locked; window shut and all curtains pulled together. All except one.

One window still with a calm little figure behind it, attentively studying the rain and the outside world. His little pale hands on the closed curtain-less window. His eyes widened but soon dimed as he saw a family of three walk by. A mother and father holding hands with a little girl ( who was trying to stomp on the puddles, but kept being pulled back under the umbrella) with a small little pout on her face. A stern look on the mother as she, probably, scoured her daughter with the father nodding his head to her every word but secretly winking at the little girl, making her giggle.

The little boy turned his back to window and walk into a lifeless, plain room with one light bulb in the middle of the ceiling, two sleeping mats directly under it( one big and one small),a little wooden table at the back of the room, a broken, tiny television (pushed to the corner) and a small mini kitchen at the opposite side of the room. The space was clean, tidy and empty. Not a single painting, picture or decoration of any kind was found on the walls, the cover of the fridge or tables. Everything was either black and white. From the walls to the ceiling to the tiles on the floor, even the kitchen fridge and desktop. The little boy seemed to blend in perfectly with the atmosphere and mood, from his still, calm eyes to his thin, straight lips. Taking off his slippers at the side and positioning it together and accurately of the small mat, he then slipped into it and dazed at the ceiling then at the window as he closed his eyes.

[Next morning] [Little garden pre-school]

Walking in a busy street, the little bun had his 'poker face' on, skillfully navigating his way through the crowds with his little bunny backpack on his back. He halted when he got to a rather small building. He took a breath then broke out a smile showing his chubby cheeks. He half ran, half skipped towards the gate until he reached there then turned to face a lady at the side.

'Hello, Teacher Park.' he said.

'Hello Ho-seok. Where are your mommy and daddy?' she asked with a smile.

His eyes widened ,right on cue, with a bit of tears attempting to the flow out.

'Mommy went to America for a new job.' as let one tear drop, he said. 'and I don't know when she's coming back. Daddy just dropped me off and couldn't come to the gate with me because he had to get to work early.'

Feeling sorry for the poor, little boy, she quickly changed the conversation, gave him a small smile then opened the gate for him. Ho-seok happily ran and met his friends in the classroom.
