9 Settled

I got to the front door of Sera's house and looked back at Jay. He is now out of the car, leaning on the car door, staring right at me.

I took a deep breath and rang the doorbell two times.

The door opened halfway and Sera peered outside.

Her eyes widened when she saw me.

"What are you doing here?" She hissed.

Feeling slightly irritated, I ignored her question. "Why did you leave me behind?"

Sera looked frustrated. "I do not want to get dragged down by you. I cannot be seen with you. Do you know that? Now, go! Don't come back anymore." She tried closing the door.

I held my stand and pushed forward, "Let me in Sera." I choked out, holding back some tears.

We struggled with the door pushing forward and backward until I lost my balance on the step of the door and fell backwards, landing into a warm body belonging to none other than Jay Shin.

Sera's eyes widened, looking very afraid.

"Open the door and let her in. She's just grabbing her stuff and moving out." His voice was deep and firm.

"Ah, y-yes." Sera's voice shakes. She lowered her eyes and opened the door.

Why is she so afraid? Did Joon threaten her or something when he sent her home last night?

I stomped in, straight to Sera's room and walked up a few steps to a connected attic from her room to reach my old bedroom. The familiarity of this place made me want to linger longer.

She's going to throw away our years of friendship like this? Is this how much it worths to her? She was basically a sister to me. But now she's kicking me out?

I angrily stuffed all my stuff and clothes into my suitcase and zipped it up.

I took one last glance at the room, brushing away a dull ache in my heart, before I bitterly dragged the suitcase across the floor, and out of the house.

Jay met me by the front door of the house and took my suitcase in one hand and grabbed my wrist with his other hand and pulled me across the street.

I wriggled my wrist trying to get out of his grasp but he held on even tighter.

We got into the car and I looked out the window. Sera was peering at me from the front door of her house.

I couldn't tell what it was. I've never seen that look on her face before.

The ride on the way back was silent. I didn't know what to think or say. And somewhere along the way, I drifted off to sleep.

I woke up to some light music playing in the background. The car had stopped moving. I looked over to the driver's side and I saw Jay watching me with a burning gaze.

I quickly turned my head back and rubbed my eyes. Sitting up straighter, I noticed that we have already arrived back at the mansion.

I wondered how long I've slept.

As if he read my mind, he said, "We just got here. Now get off and go unpack in your room."

I nodded and opened the door to the car. Jay got out on the other side and opened the trunk to get my suitcase.

We both walked up the stairs and into my room. Jay settled the suitcase on the ground.

"Come down to the kitchen for lunch when you're done." He said before walking out.

I sat on the ground and looked at my suitcase, then looked around the room.

Somehow, I'm slowly getting used to it.

I thought about Sera and how she didn't let me in the house. I would've been homeless if I didn't stay here.

I quickly unpacked my clothes and put them in the wardrobe before heading down to the kitchen.

Youngji was down in the kitchen as well and I was actually glad to see her.

I sat down in the same place as I did this morning and Youngji set down a plate of pasta for me.

"Thank you Youngji," I smiled.

Youngji smiled shyly and turned back to continue what she was doing.

I looked across from me and caught the eyes of Jay.

"So, it seems like you're quite polite with others but not with me," He mocked and began eating his portion.

I rolled my eyes and ignored his comment, concentrating on filling my stomach.

"We're heading out tonight. So rest up after you eat."

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"You'll find out."
