8 Blue Jay

I followed Youngji one flight down the stairs and walked into a big kitchen where Jay is already sitting in one of the chairs, talking on the phone.

Once I walked in, he quickly bid his goodbyes and turned his attention on me.

"Have a seat and have some breakfast. It's going to be a long day." Jay motioned for me to sit down.

I sat down and looked at my food. Toast, scrambled eggs, and a side of mixed fruits. It looks so good.

My stomach rumbled, but I didn't want to touch my food.

Should I just run out of the house now? Am I even going to make it out of this house alive?

"I don't want to be here. Let me leave and I won't say a thing." I said carefully, still looking down at my food.

I could feel his stare burning into me but I didn't dare to catch his eyes, afraid he'll hurt me again.

"You're the witness. Do you think I'll let you go that easily? I told you last night, don't make me repeat myself." He sounded a bit annoyed. "You can tell me where you live and we can drop by later. You'll grab all your belongings and move it here. Understand?"

My thoughts shifted to Sera. She left me here. I low-key wanted to show up in front of her face and see her reaction when she sees me.

"I live with Sera." I said reluctantly.

He looked surprised, "We will stop by there today, but finish your breakfast first."

He then stood up and left me in the kitchen by myself.

Since I'm hungry, I ate quickly and did the dishes in the sink.

I looked around the kitchen to see that it is very minimalistic and spacious. Everything in here is mainly stainless silver and white.

This house--or more like a mansion--is growing on me.

I decided to explore the house (more like trying to find where I can escape) since Jay is nowhere in sight.

I left the kitchen and walked softly down the stairs to the first floor.

I saw another young lady dressed like Youngji but she's not Youngji. She is dusting the window panes by the front door.

'Is she another housekeeper here?' I thought.

Feeling a little creeped out, I went up the stairs to the room where I stayed last night to see if Youngji was there. She was nowhere in sight.

I turned back and started walking down the hallway and noticed that the door of the room at the end of the hall was cracked half open. I walked towards it hoping to find Youngji there.

I stood in front of the door and peeked in. It's another spacious bedroom with every piece of furniture in a grey and white color scheme. It's even bigger than the room that I was in last night.

I realized that everything in this house is very simple and minimalistic but refined.

Out of nowhere, the door swung open and standing in front of me was Jay, topless.

A scream got caught in my throat and I gasped, shocked from the sudden movement.

My eyes drifted down and I found that he has a very toned and fit body. His abs and pecs are well defined.

"You like what you see?" He smirked.

I felt my face flushed and warm.

Feeling flustered, I started turning back to leave. And the next thing I know, I felt a hand clasped my wrist and I got pulled back into the room.

"What are you doing standing in front of my room?" He said grimly.

"Y-your room? I didn't know. I was looking for Youngji. I'm sorry." I quickly apologized.

"Stay here." He said coldly, turning away towards his bed.

I froze in the spot and didn't dare to move a muscle.

On the side of his body, I noticed a tattoo depicting a sword and a blue jay bird clawing at the pommel of the sword.

He picked up a grey t-shirt and threw it over his head.

He turns back around and starts strolling towards me. He grabbed my wrist and led me down the stairs to the first floor, out of the house.

Parked in front of the house, were two motorbikes, one fully black, and one in black and dark blue. We walked further down the path and he stood in front of a black Mercedes.

"Get in," Jay called after he unlocked the driver side of the door and hopped into the car.

"Where are we going?" I questioned.

"We're going to get your belongings."

"To Sera's place?"

"Yes, didn't you tell me that's where you lived?"

He started driving down a road with lots of trees on both sides. I didn't see a house until after a while of driving.

The car drives so smoothly that I didn't feel a thing even when he brakes.

I suddenly realized something and asked, "How do you know where Sera lives?"

"Joon sent her home last night."

Joon sent her home? The guy with the scarred eyebrow?

Then there was a silence between us and I dazed off.

Somehow, I can't deny the feeling that I find a slight comfort in his presence. I felt safe because if he really wanted to do something, he would have done it already.

His smooth deep voice cut off my thoughts. "Why were you living with Sera?"

I remained silent, I didn't want to answer him.

"Don't make me repeat myself, I asked a question." He said firmly.

"It's a long story." I quietly spoke.

"I'm waiting." He demanded.

I glanced at him. He looked serious, concentrating on the road.

Somehow, he can make someone feel so powerless in front of him.

"My mom passed three years ago, when I was 16 and I've never met my dad. So instead of going into an orphanage and being homeless, Sera convinced her parents to let me stay."

There was a silence. It seemed to me that he's in deep thoughts. But I can't figure out what he's thinking.

"It's not that long of a story." He said softly.

I turned my attention back to staring out the window. We passed a bridge and some highways. These roads don't look a bit familiar to me. I've never been to this part of the city before.

After a while of driving, we've arrived in a neighborhood I'm familiar with. I sat up straighter. The car smoothly pulls up across from Sera's house.

Jay looks at the house, "Go on ahead, grab your clothes and stuff and come right out. You can let them know that you'll be moving out and they no longer need to foster you."

I nodded and made my way across the street.
