7 A Restoring Aftermath

Her breath calms and walks out of the room going back to the stairs and peering at a map. The Male Ward being the closest place to the main exit. Her feet stumble but her effort drives her more. She notices a double door at the end of the hall just ahead from the stairs, she had madly ran down from, leading to the outside. Her upper arms feeling sore and bruised. She looks down at them and sees bruises of hand prints. A sigh comes from her and she makes it to the rainy outside. A gate ahead calls out freedom. The cold wet grassy grounds engulf her feet as she jogs to the gate. Lifting a bar open she pushes the gate door open looking to a familiar fountain in the distance.

"I...I made it..." she speeds up and runs to it looking back at the building then to the hazed sunrise.

Just as she does she sees a red Jeep stopped at a security check and sees a familiar face flustering around. He looks up and pauses fast. Her arms wave making sure he waits. She quickens her steps and makes it to the passenger side circling around the Security Checkpoint. She climbs in and waits for the jeep to move a fire burning bright in a distance, a burning church gives her unsettling news.

"What are you going to tell Lisa?" she asks and turns her sight to him. Thinking for Waylon's wife and his well being just as she had read in his file. He glances over to her as he backs up and turns around. The car scent tree shakes and gives off a calming mint scent.

"That I'm sorry...and I'll miss her. I am sure if I turn in the things I have...Murkoff will be after my family and me, my life will be over. It will be the right thing to do though... You?" he asks just as he puts it in drive.

She looks at the rear view mirror and sees the black cloud. A figure stands within it. "The Walrider..." she thinks and looks back to the front of the Jeep.

"I'll continue my supporting work and maybe raise a family." she says low and tries to look back at it in the mirror.

"If so I'll make sure I never mention you Doctor Ledger. You saved my life. In turn I'll save yours. It's the humane thing to do." his voice states in a comforting and worry free tone and notices her gaze and looks at the same mirror.

"You see it too?" he asks as he drives faster leaving all the hells behind.

The nightmare and the cruelty soon ended with the documents Waylon had collected and the video he had recorded. The evidence soon was uploaded and showed to the world. All memories left at the asylum. Yet she chose to keep the memory of everything that had happened there even if she had the power to remove memories...even her own. She wanted to know what not to have happen again or let anything happen to the future child of a scarring past of a dead troubled father. She would then write a book about every event at the asylum and the memory of Waylon, but not of the Groom, at the time her child would be coming to the adult age. Just as her son would move out, her life would come to a bitter end resulting in suicide. The suicide caused of the private secrets she could not bring herself to tell her son, a love she could not find and in the end of her own hanging she smiled. Her last thoughts were of how she loved the kindness and love her son had given her, that his father could not succumb to, and how her son had grown to a fine respectable young man. She made sure she wrote a will giving everything to her son and the entire life story of his wanting to be father, Eddie Gluskin, and the reason of his absence. That life changing event, that gave her son tears and strength, changed her son and lead him to follow her studies and become a better man than his father and a stronger individual than that of Susan Ledger.
