29 Magic
After waking up I change into my uniform and wore the white fox mask. When I went down no one was there. So are they all still in the infirmary? That's when I heard the sound of steel clashing against steel. I quickly went where the sound originated and there I saw Albert with all the F class students doing practice sword swings.
"Hey, Gabriel your finally awake." Albert greeted me with his usual smile. Everyone looked at me. Are they still angry at what I did? I was about to apologize when everyone gathered around me full of smiles. "Hey, I heard it from Sir Albert you gave up your status of SS class student so that you can stay by your friend Richard's side."
"Really now why didn't you tell us you where the one and only SS class student?" "Now it's not embarrassing but an honor to have fought you." Everyone was happy, not angry? Well, this was a weird turnout. I saw Richard who looked a little dejected. "Hey, Richard are you alright?" Richard looked at me and gave out a weak smile.
"Oh it's you Gabriel. Sorry about yesterday, sorry someone weak as me is your friend." "Huh? what are you saying Richard I'm the one who is suppose to apologize." Richard shook his head "no you did nothing wrong. The strong devour the weak that's how it always was." I was about to retort when Albert pulled ME away.
"Ok guys continue practicing while I give Gabriel here a special lesson. Don't forget guys as long as you practice the way I taught you, all of you will surely grow stronger." Richard looked at me with determined eyes and said,
"Gabriel surely I promise I will become stronger so that I can proudly say that we are friends." Hehe, so he was able to quickly find his resolve. This guy he made me worried for a moment. I smiled at Richard and answered, "sure become strong enough to watch my back I'll be waiting."

Albert, Lauria, and I were the only ones who went to the classroom. I and Lauria sat down while Albert started writing on the board.
"MAGIC" was written on the board, Albert looked at us and spoke "Today I'm going to give a detailed explanation of magic. To be more precise the concept of spell words. I know Gabriel you have little to no knowledge on spells. So thank your Albert for giving you this special lecture." I did as I was told, "Thank you, uncle, for giving me a special lecture." Albert looked at me a little displeased "it's boring if that's your reaction... I like you better before." I couldn't hear the last part but Albert continued on.
"Well, whatever let me continue my explanation. You do know the existence of mana, but in your terms, it would be called inner energy, but that's too long so let's just say mana. Ok, mana exist in every individual it is what we use as bargaining chips to control elements, spirits, and even nature itself. To use a spell one must first have the mana for it. Then afterward one must announce the contract.
When I say announce the contract it is another way to say spell words. Spell words are something like a guide for the spirits, elements, or nature to understand what is you want to achieve. It is unknown now who made the first spell words, but to use a specific spell you must also say the exact spell words. Simply put spell words are like messages to the spirits and such. depending on what you want to do the difference of mana output will be seen.
There is also an example where two people use the same spell but the one who uses more mana would win. The spell itself was the same but the output is different. Also, there are special cases when one doesn't need to use spell words. I'll give you a demonstration."
Albert snapped his fingers and a huge fireball was floating above his head. With another click of his fingers, the fireball disappeared. "Right now I didn't use any spell words but how did I produce the fireball? What do you think Gabriel." "I don't know all I could say is that you concentrated a lot of mana and clicked your fingers and a fireball was produced."
Albert looked at me smiling then looked at Lauria and asked: "You Lauria what do you think." Without hesitation, Lauria answered. "Indeed the usage of spell words is needed to perform that. But that is also not the only way to use magic. If you can control your mana to a certain degree and release it at an exact moment and also using emotion to transmit what you want similar results could be produced. Though I say that doing so is possible but to actually do it is a different matter. One must have very precise control over his/her mana as well as their emotions to replicate what you just did."
Albert was amused at Lauria's answer "Correct 100 points for you Lauria. One must first be able to fully control his/her mana to produce similar results like with the one I did. On a side note Gabriel that girl Evangeline can do this. Not only simple spells like fireball but around mid-level spells as well. The only time that girl needs to chant spell words is when she uses high, high end, summoning, and ultimate level spells. That's how much talent she has. Oh, I'm getting ahead of myself I haven't explained that yet. OK listen Gabriel spells are classified as:
Minor spells- These spells include simple things like creating a small fire, moving an object slightly and other minor things that you could do by yourself.
Low spells- These spells use minor spirits to create things like fireballs, a gush of water, and minor healing spells that can heal simple scratches.
Mid spells- These spells are mostly attack base spells that control both spirits and elements. A good example for this would be the flood of water those guys in F class used against you. You can even replicate a little lightning in this level.
High spells- These spells are used by higher mages specifically for war. They are very destructive in a sense. Remember the fireball spell that I used awhile ago compared to a high spell that's like candlelight. With this level of spell, you can even shake the ground.
High-end spells- This one is on a whole different level from High spells. This level can only be performed by people who have the mana capacity of demi-gods. This is what other people usually call miracles. This is a spell level that commands nature itself.
Summoning spells- As the term implies it is to summon something. Usually, when one does a spell he/she would borrow a spirit or some other creature's power, but in using a summoning spell you can call the being physically to help you. The only people who could do this are people who have made contracts with said beings.
Ultimate spell- These are spells that can literally destroy a nation. These spells need a ridiculous amount of time and mana to use.
"Well that's it with the basic explanation regarding magic. So any questions?" "I have a question regarding summoning spells. If you summon one of the spirits like fire and someone was able to kill it. Does that mean the fire will cease to exist?"
"Hahaha, good question Gabriel the answer to that is no. When someone summons something like a spirit only a portion of their whole form is summoned so that they can manifest in a solid form. Other summonings such as Cereberus which guards the underworld can only manifest a portion of their self, because of their duty that they cannot leave. A whole summon requires a lot of time and mana and the consent of the entity being summoned. This kind of summon is under the category of Ultimate spells. So next how about I explain the difference between spirits and elementals. First off is spirits, spirits in this world are beings that govern the balance of nature, while elementals are beings that force change in nature. Spirits are usually used by mages while elementals are used by alchemists."
I looked at Albert with a puzzled expression "alchemist?" "Oh! right you don't know what that is. So first a question what do you understand when you hear the word mage?"
"Well people that can use magic right?"
"Correct so an alchemist is another form of a mage they are people that change the composition of things. So the reason they use elementals more is because they forcefully change the very compositions of objects. Well, that's the basics of that so next is, this."
Out of nowhere, a very large old book appeared, Albert handed me the book and said: "Here's your assignment for today Gabriel I want you to memorize the spell from pages one to forty, so that tomorrow we may begin magic training." I was shocked by the statement and stuttered while I asked: "A-a-ah u....umm your j...joking right uncle?" Albert smiled and patted my shoulder "No I'm not, ask Lauria for help. I expect you to memorize everything word per word." Is this For reeeeeaaaaaalllllllllllllllll!!!
