7 Her Fate (2/2)

In her room, Devi sat in front of her study table, thinking of how she can't even avoid this event that happened in her past lives but quite different from the last.

Devi wanted to know if she can't avoid this fate of hers. Will she continue to watch those two fell in love again? Will she be hated and resented by others again? Will she be alone again? Will she die…again?

She crossed these thoughts and recounted on the past happenings this lifetime.

Tristan constantly visited her home, smoothly developing feelings with Angelica without her interruption or whatnots. Devi avoided them like plagued not wanting to see those two together and also having hope… A tiny bit of hope that her fate would change somehow if she didn't get in the way between the two's love.

She sighed as the a negative idea passed her mind… that she can't escape this fate and what happened just now was a little proof of that.

On the first life time, Devi and Angelica ate lunch together, the same date as today. While eating, Angelica somehow curiously asked… "Onee-san, what was Tristan like at school?"

At that time Devi was confused and asked why Angelica wanted to know.

While Angelica answered.. "Nothing. I just wanted to know how different he's from what I know."

Devi was naïve to know that there was already something between her sister and fiancé, and that they have already been secretly meeting without her knowing.

At that moment she just felt embarrassed, she didn't know how to answer. Why? Because she didn't know much about him after all. They don't even interact and she would only get glimpses of him at school. So she awkwardly replied. "D-don't pry too much. You do not need to know."

Angelica pouted from her sisters' answer. Month after that lunch, her sister asked their parents if she could attend school. Their parents hesitated because of her health but in the end enrolled her on the next semester.

On the second life, when her sister asked Devi this question, Devi exploded in a fit of anger and called her little sister a bitch. This made her relationship with her family became strain more than what it was. As what happened on the first life, aAngelica asked her parents and they enrolled her the next sem.

And on the 3rd life, Devi ignored her as she ate. She never talked to her sister as she thought it was a waste to use her voice to her hated sister. And again, after what happened next on both 1st and 2nd lifetime, also happened on the 3rd.

In this lifetime though, she didn't know that her action and suggestion turned the gears of her fate. Her sister talked to their parents that night and reasoned that her health has improved (thanks to being infatuated, and Tristan's constant care for her without having been disturbed by Devi).

After two weeks, she got enrolled. Her parents paid a huge amount of money for her sister just like how it is in the past. Her sister entered through the back door.

In the past lifetimes, because of this action by her parents she felt indignant and wronged. When Devi told her parents she wanted to enter Fresia University, her parents looked at her like she'd gone mad and doubted her ability. They didn't offer encouragement nor help, so Devi worked her ass off. The contrast of her parents' treatment between her and her sister were apparent to her and the other people.

However this time, she didn't mind it but instead felt great because this was something she achieved. Something she worked hard. She appreciates it and even felt proud of herself.

*Back to the present*

Devi snapped out of her thoughts and sighed. She took a last glance at the lovers and prepared to leave the library.

Her sister has been attending university as a freshman for a week and the students felt she's a darling. 'Well this isn't something new. They've always loved her afterall.'

But somehow Devi think this is unexpected… Angelica's enrollment came earlier than before and she was caught off guard at the same time it made her giddy at the thought that something has changed… that her fate is slowly changing.

While lost on her thoughts, Devi and a male student bumped into each other, which made Devi bounced back a few steps.

"I'm sorry. I wasn't looking."

Devi rubbed her nose while she balanced herself not to fall on the floor. "Ahh.. No. I wasn't also look---" when Devi faced the male she got shocked and muttered in surprise "—Keit!"
