8 Understand

After the incident with the rooftop, I'm now draped over Alistair's shoulder watching as a cloud of white flour dusts off of us and leaving a trail behind with each step.

"You're being unreasonable, Alistair," I snapped, before smacking the huge man's back.

"Unreasonable?" He questioned, anger evident in his voice as passerbyers watched us.

"Yes. If you had just left me alone, so I could see my sister instead of following me onto the roof and cornering me on the edge, none of this would have happened," I shot back, straightening my body out like a board.

Sighing, Alistair stopped as he jerked his shoulder up causing me to lift off of it for a moment before landing back on him, draped. When he was satisfied, he continued walking.

"You just arrived, Noir. You do not know this pack. There are places you don't go. That side of the village is one of them and I prohibit you from going there, at least alone. It's out of the question."

That's it!

Turning a little, so I could see the back of his neck, I poked him causing him to immediately stop and tense.

"If I'm not allowed to go, though I don't see the problem, why don't you go with me," I asked, feeling a wave of triumph at my idea.

"I would have if you had simply asked before rushing off without saying anything then letting that mouth override your ass," he seethed, walking over to a grassed area and dropping me.

He looked over me before crouching down where his upper half was covering my lower half.

"BUT instead, YOU shot off like an arrow without explaining anything to me while in an area unknown to you. In an area where YOU know no one or what they will do or what they are capable of. YOU just ran. YOU let your emotions guide you blindly without thinking. That. Will. Get. You. Killed. I will not tolerate such brash behavior from YOU," he growled, crawling over my body more but careful not to make skin to skin contact.

"And then YOU had the audacity to speak to me the way you did," his voice much deeper now, more venomous.

Now I'm flat on my back as his body hovers over mine. For the briefest moment, his eyes bleed from gold to black then back, staying gold. Reaching up, he pulled the collar of my tunic down, exposing my collarbone and lowered his head to the exposed flesh.

"If you would have fell without me there, you would have died. If the flour wagon wasn't there, then I would have died. A pack can not survive without an Alpha," I felt his breath against my skin as he trailed up to the nape of my neck.

"I am not mated," he whispered, sending shivers throughout my body. "With no Luna or heir, Dark Wood would be an open target for annihilation," with this, his tongue flicked across that sweet spot again as I felt his canines elongate, the sharp points scraping along my unmarked spot.

"You need to think before you act or a simple action such as earlier causes an entire pack to burn."

By now, I'm in a pool of desire for some unworldly reason.

River purrs.

"Shut up, wench," I hiss before redirecting my attention to Alistair.

Pulling back, he looks down at me with now black orbs.

"Do you understand," he questioned but all I could do was nod.

He continued to look down at me before his eyes bled from black to expose deep honey irises.

Now he simply stared at me with the blankest expression before hoisting himself up, not even offering me a hand.

"Good. My Beta is with Triaa," he paused, looking at me.

"You however, are with me. When they are done, they will meet us at the main house. Now get up. You look like a wad of cotton and dirt."

With this, he turned and began walking to the opposite edge of the village.

Standing, I huffed but followed reluctantly.

After about 5 minutes of silence, I mind-linked my sister.

"Triaa," I began. "I will meet you at the pack house. I seem to be in trouble. Again."

I got a hmph before she responded, "I'll be there soon. Please don't get into any more trouble," she paused. "Well, at least before I arrive."

I smiled at that only to look up to see my new Alpha glancing over his shoulder at me.

"Will you STOP that," I growled. "It's unsettling."

Alistair looked forward again and shrugged.

"Just making sure you didn't run off."
