18 Run

"Alistair, just listen," I shrieked as Alistair drug me to an empty area.

When he let go of my wrist, I staggered backwards and somehow magically regained my balance.

"What do you think you're doing, dancing with another man let alone, dressed like that," he growled.

It didn't pass me unnoticed that his golden eyes lingered on my body as they bled to black then gold again before looking back at me.

"E-xcuse me," I said, sauntering over to him and poking him in the chest.

"You have n-no room to talk with the way you're d-dressed."

Stepping back, Alistair crossed his arms.

"How much did you drink?"

I looked up at the sky and tapped my cheek. "I think about 10 mugs with Cuyler and 3 with you," I paused and started cackling like a madwoman.

"I mean 3 with your brother."

I don't know what was so funny saying that but before I could stop laughing, Alistair had picked me and dropped me in a horse trough, jarring my senses instantly.

"What the hell, Alistair," I screamed, coughing out bits of water and climbing back onto dry land.

"That should sober you up. At least enough for the run," he snapped back.

"Where do you get off dropping in a trough though," I shouted once again, looking around until I found a bucket.

Slamming it down in the trough, I spun around and splashed Alistair with the bucket's contents.

"Maybe that will cool you down," I seethed.

Both Alistair and I stared at each other soaking wet before Alistair looked up, honey orbs flickering back and forth with his golden hues.

The creepiest grin crept across his face as I felt River stretch in my subconscious.

SHIT!

For every step I took back, Alistair advanced on me, his grin growing wider the closer he got. When he lunged, I evaded him and ran back towards the festivities.

I couldn't help but laugh as I heard Alistair behind me. I'm going to regret this tomorrow but to hell with it.

Bring it, you burly bastard.

I ran through the crowd, not caring who I pushed out of my way as I was laughing then screamed, "SHIFT AND RUN!!"

With that, I jumped over Shiloh and Nebo who were sitting on a bench and began to howl as River took over and took form.

I shifted before hitting the ground as pack members ran behind me.

"We are in so much trouble," River laughed as we ran harder.

"Who gives a boar's ass," I retorted, laughing to myself. "He'll live."

With that, we took a sharp right and plunged into the forest. The sound of paws shook the earth as howls and barks filled the night sky.

"Nebo, Cuyler, Valenner, you 3 are in control of the run for a moment,"

"Alright..," all three said in unison as the pack ran left and I stayed straight.

River slowed her pace as we rounded a corner and plopped down at a riverbed, panting.

"I think he is going to kill us," I laughed.

"You're probably right," River chuckled before springing up at the sound of paws and began running again.

"NOIR. RIVER. Come back! You've go— far—pac—border—," Alistair shouted but the mindlink went blank.

Stopping, we looked around before a body collided with ours, sending us tumbling down a ravine.
