Chapter 1

I feal soar. It's been 3 hours but sleep and the feeling of drifting to a dimension whether you're in control or not could not take over my body. I'm doing it again. I normally lie on the left side of my bed but I tried the other side because who knows it might actually work. I slam my left palm to my face and winced even if I knew that it was coming. "This is stupid." I lunge my upper to sit like a frog and I bounced a little bit like some 7th grader. Maybe I'm just bored again, so I start to pan my room. My room is quite nice. No, it's actually gorgeous. My door's outer side is painted in beige to fit the interior of the house but if you go inside, the other side is painted black with a picture of mom and dad's wedding day. It's surrounded with small red and blue dart pins that Gabe had for his 7th birthday. There's nothing much to see in my room, a mirror on the lower left corner, a bluish white closet and a support cabinet beneath it touching my ashgray floormat. I remembered rolling over it giggly after recieving my first award in a song writing competition in 5th grade. I placed 8th out of 10. My keyboard sits flat at the very bottom of my bed together with some scattered sheets of oslos ready for drafts and revisions. My walls and ceiling are painted in a combination of pitch black, strong royals of blue and a simple touch of silverdusts that sparkle even with my lights turned off. If people come into my room and thought that these uneven shapes of small and big stars glow in the dark impress me, then they just got one fact of my life right. Not admiring light stuff but the fact of seeing stars and the night sky. They aren't amusing to watch or magical to stare at. But I need to look at them until I literally feel my eyelids start to fall like my lavendar blinders. However tonight's another bloody difficult time. Frustration hit my stomach as I crave for some milkshake. With my legs formed like a small letter w, I lie to the matress and darted the stars once more. I wonder if they're really just rock-like comets from space, how do they look so sparkly in human's naked eye on Earth? I hate Science. I stare at my mom and dad's lovey expression on my door. I pick up the last red dart at my bed and eyed my dad's head while motioning my hand to a perfect throw. My phone lit and rang and I threw the dart with force but it was more of a surprise because who would call me on 2 bloody am. I missed his face. It landed on the wedding cake instead. Furiously, I picked my phone up and swiped answer as my thumb's nail slightly made a simple tap noise.

"I swear to the Heaven's above Gabriel if this is about equations again!" I spat on the phone.

"First of all, don't charge on me, second; I've finished homework already and third, haven't we talked about the whole name calling thing?" I can hear him chewing some gum over the line.

"Oh I'm sorry if I forgot that you go by Gabe you little precious thing but I was trying to get some sleep now, Gabriel". I'm actually impressed with my 'trying to be a biatch' side.

"Girlfriend we both know you don't sleep 'til it's actually morning, I called because I knew you were awake and I got hot tea" Gabe doesn't sound apologetic and I never expect him to be, atleast he's got gossips every Tuesday night.

"Why what's new?" This time I'm begging for Gabe.

"Remember Holly from 5th grade summer camp?"

"You mean Holly Merrits?"

"Yeah. Well, she's dating Scott?"

"You mean baseball team captain Scott Davidson? No kidding?"

"Since when were my sources wrong?" Gabe sound offended. I laugh and roll to sit properly like some proper princess.

"Well, good for her. Someone's taking her to the dance". Wait! Did I just admit I'd want to go the dance and I got completely envious of Holly who wears all green from bonettes to socks and has actually had a boyfriend first before I did?

"Ooh, someone's behind the race" Gabe can talk sassy and can be extra devilish but I love how he does it naturally while I'm getting mad.

"I'm not going to the dance. I don't wanna go" I speak with authority but I know Gabe's unfazed and amused as he pops his gum.

"I didn't say anything. How's Karen?" Funny how someone's more concerned about my mom than I am.

"She's beat. Probably having the best dream of her life"

"You bet she is!" We giggle once more. Having Gabe call was never a bad timing.

"You can call me when you're still up alright?"

"I'll be fine. You should sleep."

"Oh I almost forgot, don't hang up!" My eyebrows raise unintentionally and I get excited while my other hand pulls for my pillow.

"I sent you a link of some music site. It's called Street Music. They do piano buskings too"

"No way?!" I'm undeniably impressed.

"Imma head to bed now. Check the link, you'll love it."

I rest my head unto my pillow like I do when mom reads me bed time stories and I rest my head on her shoulders. Only this time mom's asleep and my pillow's keeping me company.

"Tell me why you're my favorite gay best friend again?"

"Cause I'm your only gay best friend. Stop this drama and go to bed soon. Love you" I hear the beep as Gabe ends the call and even if he couldn't hear me I still call back love you too, drama queen.

I threw my phone to the side and grabbed my laptop to check on the link. I tapped on to reveal my background photo of Gabe, Mason and I on the same santa pajamas we all got for free on the thrift store for helping out in cleaning the shop. I clicked Google and it revealed my Facebook account. Penelope Olives. I click on Gabes link and it redirected me into Street Music's blog of people busking and singing in a park. The video automatically played revealing a man in his 30s probably 35 playing Hakuna Matata. His hands move quick, his foot tapping on every 2/4 of the song and his head with blonde shaved hair bops into rhythm. This is cool. Cooler than recitals. At the end of the intermission, the people applaud him. I watched it over and over. I got addicted to it so easily. Until I decided to switch it off after moments of replays. I glance at my red rectangular alarm, it's 5am in the morning and I could hear birds chirping distantly. That's definitely my call. I move my laptop to the counter top and slid under my personalized Starry Starry Night themed bed sheets.

"10, 9, 8, 7.." I slowly feel my heavy eye lids struggling to remain open.

"4, 3, 2.." I try fight it but it's no use, I'm finally about to sleep.

"1, 0. Good night, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite." I whisper in sweet silence of the ambience that my room commits to unfold.
