62 Kenpachi

Unohana understood the plan. Her thousands of years of battle experience connected with all of the others. The old monster Yamamoto was the only other person with such rich combat experience. Although both of them retired, their instincts and raw power barely dwindled. She scoffed at the thought of Yamamoto. His nature brought upon his own weakness.

Unohana sat silently in her office and replayed every battle she ever experienced in her head. With the improved mental faculties brought by the fusion of minds, she had access everything. This replay wasn't just for her enjoyment. Reliving those battles caused her blood to boil again, and the mistakes and weaknesses of her past were made clear to her. She could sense her combat abilities increasing by almost twice that of when she was battling Zaraki as a child.

Millions of lives were lost under her blade, not including those that were slaughtered as collateral. This murderous intent had been bottled away and hid by her gentle outward appearance. Her mind raced to correct and improve her fighting. This was shared amongst all of the egos. The power of multiple personalities and experiences coming together into one body was showing its worth.

Oetsu's Kenjutsu was one of the best, having an intimate relationship with swords. Unohana's healing arts, battle experience, and killing intent were honed over a thousand years. Gin Ichimaru's assassination, scheming mind, and flawless acting improved their stealth and espionage. Oetsu had carefully plotted for which Zanpakuto would be needed to face against the various Sternritters. Naturally, Unohana was very important due to the ability to counter one of the deadliest of the group.

Askin controlled the lethal dose of compounds he understood. However, Unohana's bankai created a unique acidic ooze that harmed everyone equally. The downside is that he would be able to counter it after ingesting some of it and learning of its properties. Therefore, the only thing lacking in this equation was a strategy to make use of his temporary weakness while adjusting to the acid. Fortunately, Urahara had already given them the necessary knowledge from the original timeline to utilize Grimmjow and Nelliel.

Over the next few weeks, Orihime would transform into Unohana and replay every battle she experienced then collapse and repeat. This training increased the time she could stay transformed by several hours. However, there seemed to be a proportional increase in how long she had to wait to transform again. The only solution to this long cool down was adding more egos to Amanozako. The next target was already determined by transforming into Oetsu.

Utilizing his Zanpakuto awareness, they locked onto Shinji. Oetsu tracked his position for hours until finally catching him completely alone. Once he opened the portal directly to him, Orihime stepped through. Shinji was sitting in the open bath naked and alone. When he noticed someone pop in, he assumed it to be Hiyori whom was just here earlier, but instead he saw Orihime. She had been missing for several months and his position as fifth division captain was being reinstated. Just when he was going to greet her, a bloody murderous intent leaked out of her gaze.

"Sorry Shinji, although I hate you, it's not personal. This is for the greater good."

She pierced his chest, but Shinji was a lot stronger than she expected. He managed to dodge the lethal blow and it went through his shoulder instead. However, as soon as the blade inserted into his body, the intense killing aura gained from Unohana burst out of the blade and shredded his body into bite sized pieces for Amanozako to swallow up. The bath water turned completely red as Shinji's wide eyes stared at Orihime. Since it wasn't a killing blow, he experienced the excruciating pain in its fullest.

Soon after, Orihime transformed into Shinji and the experience of dying was diluted amongst the ecstasy he was feeling from becoming one with the others. His inner hollow had been destroyed by the process and Shinji felt a freedom he never experienced before. Although the hollow powers would be useful, since Orihime was developing her Quincy bloodline and anticipated devouring the Sternritters, the Hollow would turn to a poison instead.

Shinji summoned his Zanpakuto and felt his powers mature rapidly. His ability was very compatible with the reality warping powers of Amanozako. This created a loop between the two and further enhanced them both. Previously, his powers were limited to inversion of reality. However, he could now control the direction of inversion. If someone attacked forward, he could choose for them to attack in any other direction, even confusing themselves as the target. This was the power of the fourth dimension.

He wasn't that important in the overall power increase of Orihime, however, his bankai would be extremely useful if multiple enemies came at once. Additionally, it should counter Mask De Masculine. His little cheering crew would no longer recognize him as an ally, and would stop cheering for him. Although this was a theory, the minds had concluded that there would be no negative and only positive. Shinji released a bout of Kido into the bathwater to evaporate all of the blood before sneaking out.

The transformation time remaining was only an hour since monitoring him as Oetsu had taken up most of it. Orihime set up a silencing and detection resistant barrier and collapsed again. She had attempted to negate this side effect, but it didn't seem possible. Her seniors had concluded that this was due to the immaturity of her bankai. Oetsu especially believed that having had her bankai for less than a year was the limiting factor.

When Orihime awoke, she transformed into Unohana to complete one last thing before going to face the Quincy head on. She made her way to the twelfth division with excitement in her eyes. As soon as she entered, she saw Kenpachi of Zaraki sitting alone in the training area with a depressed look. He looked over and saw Unohana standing there. When he saw who it was, he grimaced and turned back to staring at the clouds in boredom.

"What's that look, Zaraki?"

"I was hoping it was someone to fight, but it's just you."

"Ha… haha… hahahaha."

Unohana began to start laughing maniacally. The scar he gave her also left her with a fear of death. She was the first and oldest Kenpachi. Her existence prevented Zaraki from releasing his Zanpakuto since she had also left a scar on him. Her loss in battle had created fear of being too strong and lonely at the top. But Unohana wasn't here to train him back to his peak. She was here to beat him senselessly and regain her rightful title. She would bring Zaraki back to full strength and then beat him.

"That look… you are here to fight. Hehe, alright then bring it on!"

Unohana walks up to him, her hair beginning to come apart. She grabs his shoulder and they disappear. After several uses of Shunpo, they arrive on a desolate area outside of the Seireitei. Her hair is completely undone at this point. Zaraki looks at her and squints his eyes.

"You… why do you look so familiar."

"Zaraki… Do you not remember me? Yachiru Unohana… the first Kenpachi."

"It's you! All this time, the strongest opponent was pretending to be a kind and gentle person, gahahahaha!"

Unohana didn't say anymore and attacked. Their first blows were legendary, the horizon shook at their power. However, Zaraki was at a severe disadvantage. Due to having repressed his power for several decades, he was unable to fight at the level he did as a child. This caused her to be very angry. She didn't want to fight this weak man, but the boy who pierced her heart and forced her to face death. She didn't live in fear for so many years to beat up a weakling!

"Bankai, Minazuki."

A giant ball of red ooze formed above her which began to bleed. Her blade also began to pour out a red blood-like substance. When the ooze touched Zaraki's skin, it burned away. Additionally, the same ooze was burning away Unohana's body. However, due to her mastery of healing arts and overwhelming spiritual power, she was able to heal herself and Kenpachi rapidly. The blood on her sword finally stopped oozing and all that was left was a hardened iron and carbon combination from the blood.

The battle began in earnest now. She would repeatedly destroy Zaraki's body while they exchanged blows. Then she would heal him back. Slowly, his weakness was melting away from him. This idea naturally came from the original timeline.

However, Unohana already lost all reason and was simply swinging her sword around in sheer pleasure. The power differential was only growing even though Zaraki was regaining his peak. The difference was the massive world of life energy and spiritual power inside the body's shared soul was being stimulated. The battle naturally attracted the Soul Reapers. When Yamamoto arrived, he was furious, but even he couldn't casually approach the collisions of these two colossus fighters without harming everyone in Soul Society.
