The beeping stopped the thoughts in Lanse's head. It was from his alarm clock meaning it was the next day and soon time for training. But how could that be?
He blinked with pain in his eyes making him know he had stayed awake all night. Curses! It was the scum's fault. He pulled the pillow from his face with such force it made a loud whoosh and blew his black bangs.
Tess left her room door already dressed in her training attire. There was no need to wake up super early since she no longer needed to plot an escape or spend time with Lanse. In fact, she needed to be anywhere but where he may expect her. She glimpsed down the male hallway once before heading down the stairs to the kitchen.
One step inside and the lights turned on. Alone, she placed a packet in the coffee maker and pressed the button. The beep made her know it was done and she realized she had stared at the glass jar for two minutes. She dropped her folded arms and kissed her brows.
