"What the hell was that?"

Mo Fan asked through the screen. Zemin typed some commands in his mecha, and several data showed up on his window screen. He was going to analyze it when a call from the ship came. He accepted it immediately.

"Abort your mission. A potential level 4 beast appeared. You and Mo Fan are to resurface and help neutralize it with the others. Don't let it leave the northern area." Long San appeared on his screen and directly gave them new order.

"Yes, sir." Zemin saluted.

After the call ended, he scanned over the data on his screen and spoke to Mo Fan, "You heard Adviser Long's new order?"

"Yeah. Just what is going on? How can the scout team didn't find these potential level 4 beast and level C Irregular when they inspected the planet?"

"I don't know. It's hard to believe they missed them considering how meticulous they are. They're probably going to get an earful from General Yi."

"Giving them a full set of physical and mental punishment is letting them off easy. This is one big failure." Mo Fan shuddered.

Zemin nodded in agreement. He called Xiao Huiqing who was responsible to lead the beast's neutralization to report and asked him to send them the coordinate.

On the other hand, Mo Fan studied the underground map scanned by their mecha to find the nearest exit. While he was moving the screen, it suddenly turned red from an alert popping up.

"There's a beast coming towards us!" Mo Fan notified Zemin.

Zemin just finished his call and also saw the warning on his screen, "I see it. It's moving fast. A speed type?"

"Let's deal with this first before going up. We don't want to bring another trouble there."

"Good point." Zemin reported the situation to Xiao Huiqing before they moved their mecha towards the incoming creature.

The stomping of their mecha echoed through the underground walls as they dash to the red point moving on their screen. As they got closer, they could hear the crushing sound of the beast's rampaging its way through. If their speculation wasn't wrong, the size of the beast was probably almost as big as the passage.

When they finally saw it, they were caught off guard because it wasn't a beast at all. It has eight legs that were twisted at a weird angle, digging its fingers into the walls and ceilings. Its main body was big and round with eyeballs grotesquely planted throughout. They were blinking and moving around frantically. Its head was facing them. There were 2 opened mouths with one of them consisted of rows of jagged teeth and another one having a long tongue dangling out and hissing.

"Sh*t, an Irregular!" Mo Fan cursed.

"All the more reason we should finish it off here," Zemin entered a few commands, "Cover me."

Mo Fan's mecha's arms turned into a pair of machine guns and he rained the Irregular's face with plasma bullets, giving it no time to attack Zemin who was engaging forward. Zemin's mecha took out smaller guns than Mo Fan's as to not slow him down from the weight.

He directly went under the Irregular and shot its eyes one by one. The Irregular was enraged and lunged forward with a cry to attack Mo Fan without minding the bullets raining him. Mo Fan dodged back and managed to avoid being shredded and consumed by the Irregular's wide-opened mouth.

The Irregular stretched out its front pair of limbs intending to catch Mo Fan. He divided his aim one staying to its head while the other to its incoming hands. Although his mecha's light shield was active, it was still better to not get hit after all.

In the back, Zemin also didn't cease destroying its eyes. Irregulars were very fierce and hard to be killed. That was because they didn't have any organs like normal living beings. But they do have vital points. Once they figured out what the Irregular's vital point was, it was only a matter of skill whether they could defeat it or not.

Generally, Irregular's vital points were exposed and easy to discern. For example, these eyeballs or the flower head of the flower Irregulars Lixue and Thirteen fought with. The problem was, they could have more than one vital point and unless all of it was destroyed, the Irregular would still be able to move.

Another pair of limbs moved. Mo Fan thought it was going to increase its power to attack him, but the limbs suddenly shot out to its back.

"F*ck! It can elongate its limbs. Zemin, watch out for its limbs!"

Mo Fan's warning was on time and Zemin jumped back. The 2 limbs smashed into the ground, creating 2 deep holes on where Zemin was standing earlier.

Before it could pull out, Zemin shot out wires from his mecha and locked the 2 limbs in place. He attracted more limbs to come and attacked him and shot more wires at them. When he caught every limb, he anchored his mecha's legs into the ground to avoid being flung when the Irregular tried to free itself and prompted Mo Fan to attack.

"I'll hold it, you hurry up and destroy its vitals. I can give you 5 minutes at most before either the wire snapped, or I'm thrown off from the ground."

"That's more than enough."

On the surface, the giant beasts were about to fully come out from the water. Its thick tentacles were spread out and reached a very long distance. Its body was of a dark purple color, almost black. The forest trees were swept and wrecked by the tentacles as it also plucked off the trees and threw them aimlessly.

The groups in the northern area all saw the giant beast while the candidates on the west could hear the commotion there. Although they very much want to get away from the area, especially with the trees flying around, they couldn't because of the Irregulars chasing and attacking them.

They didn't know what ghost possessed them, but they suddenly became mad and attacked more viciously. They were a distance away from the Irregulars and were out of their field of vision, but somehow, those things would immediately spot them and chased after them like they were injected with chicken blood.

A group of candidates was running away when the person on the very back got their feet caught by the Irregular and was dragged back. His friends, either didn't realize or pretended to not realize, all continued running away without turning back.

The Irregular was shaped like a ball wrapped in thorny vines. It moved by rolling around and could maneuver its vine however it wanted.

The candidate screamed in panic and from pain from his feet. He shot the thing in front of him non-stop with his plasma gun. Even after it has an additional gaping hole and stopped moving, he still continued shooting since he closed his eyes. Then, he felt the restrain on his feet loosened and wasn't dragged anymore.

He slowly opened his eyes to peek, but something was shadowing his vision from above. He tilted his head up and saw a tree was coming down towards him. He could only cry inwardly on his trashy luck.

Thankfully, the scene of his past flashing before his eyes didn't happen. A blue mecha flew down and kicked the falling tree before it touched the ground. It crashed safely away a few meters beside the candidate.

Xiao Huiqing opened the speaker line, "Quickly leave the northern area. Tell anyone you meet that the northern area is now closed."

The candidate hurriedly got up, ignoring the stinging pain on his feet, and saluted, "Yes, sir!"

Xiao Huiqing watched him leave. He noticed the injury on that candidate's feet, but it was an exam injury. He couldn't be partial and helped that candidate even if he wanted to.

He didn't dwell on it too much and flew up. Behind him were soldiers in green mecha following him and also dealt with the trees that were going to fall on candidates. They could already see the sight of the octopus beast wreaking havoc more than a few miles away.

From when they dispatched from the ship until now, the sky above them became increasingly darker from the dark clouds gathering to where the beast was. Inside the clouds, lightning crackled every once in a while and the wind also became fiercer as time goes by.

"It's a potential level 4 octopus beast. For now, it can be confirmed that it has lightning ability and a mutant body. There's a high possibility of it having water ability considering it's an aquatic animal. Stay sharp. Don't let your guard down. Keep the formation tight. We're going to engage 50 meters away from the target using Formation C. Everybody clear?" Xiao Huiqing commanded from his mecha. His usual innocent expression was nowhere to be seen.

"Yes, Lieutenant General!"
