5 Chapter 2: The True Beginning

Part 1 - {What happened to me?}

"The one formally known as David Harper, your destiny does not lie in the afterlife. With my authority as the God of Death, I command you, awaken!"

David's consciousness returned to his soul and he felt it, no he did not have a body. But somehow, he knew, that he had once again died. He looked around him to see an endless darkness, the only light shone from his soul. The light was warm and bright.

'What's going on?'

As he finished his thought, a voice filled with a magnetic power entered his mind. It was loud and dominating and David found that he was willing to listen.

"You have earned the right to walk the path of the Gods. Your soul has gathered strength after eons of existence. As such, you will have to face nine trials. You will be given aid in the form of the Artificial Intelligence Module 000002. Good luck."

In front of him a large ball of mist formed. David was startled when it advanced towards him, but he did not get the opportunity to run away before it attached itself to his soul.

[Hello Host, I am Artificial Intelligence Module 000002, tasked with aiding in your journey to Godhood.

I was given strict instructions on the information that will be given to you about each task and have been instructed to inform you that although I appear to be a human being, I do not have emotions or free will.

Therefore, host is expected to rely only on yourself for all emotional and physical needs.

Host will not find sympathy with Artificial Intelligence Module 000002.

Artificial Intelligence Module 000002 has been given a vast database of skills that the host may be permitted to if the host so wishes.

However, the host is only able to choose one skill before a task.

Any skill that the host has not chosen but has gained during a task will gain naturally as world tasks progress.

The host has been allowed one chance for total physical enhancement in each world.

However, host is to know that this process will vary depending on the host's condition at that time.

One question will be permitted at this time.

Host, please choose a skill from the catalog that I have given you access to. There are no restrictions on choice. However please note that the speed in gathering proficiency will depend on how hard you work.]

David was suddenly able to see an extensive list of skills and their descriptions. There were transcendent to mundane skills. The vastness of the opportunity was overwhelming for David, he did not know where to start. He thought for a second before posing his question.

"AIM, what type of world am I being sent to?"

[Host, please clarify your question.]

"Based on the world I was previously in, am I being transported to a Fantasy, Medieval, Ancient or Futuristic world?"

[Using host's previous world's as the basis for comparison, host is being transferred to a Modern environment. Host please quicken with your skill selection.]

"Okay, then I choose the programming skill."

[…Granted.

Host, please prepare for immediate transfer~ DING!~

David's consciousness went black a second and then he was awakened by the nudging of a small hand.

"Dwaddy, it time to up. Up dwaddy!"

The child's voice was sweet, soft and melodious. David's new body was familiar with this wake call. It was his daughter Ari. A timid toddler of fours years old. She had not been able to pronounce her words properly yet, but her father would always melt when he saw her.

'She was never this timid,' her realized.

David's new body was named Adonis and he was rightly named so. A tall, well defined statue made him stand out in a crowd of beautiful people. But his face was the crowning jewel. From a young age Adonis was lavishly smothered with love. They never saw his effort, only his face. So, overtime he became taciturn, his face never changed expression. Even when his beloved daughter moved his heart, he only felt happy on the inside.

This caused many misunderstandings that eventually lead to his death.

His wife was arranged by his mother when he took over as the CEO and Chairman of the Family business. It was a conglomerate that had dealings in all avenues of business expect the underworld. He was his parents only son and heir until his mother found out about his father's mistress. His respected father was raising an outside family way before he married his mother. His mother was distraught, but she cared about her public opinion more than than the corrupted love that she had for her husband. She buried the truth and kicked his father out of the house. Adonis was ten at the time, but his mother told him everything. He witnessed her decent into a cold husk of her past self as she watched pictures of her husband and his other family.

Adonis became even colder. He truly respected his wife, but his cold demeanor drove them apart. She felt that her marriage was cold, so when his elder half-brother started to make his move to steal his wealth, she was easily persuaded. She entered an extramarital relationship with him and was one of his key informants in the Miller family estate.

His elder brother, Charles Miller, made quick work of silently destroying his image with the use of Adonis' own wife and in the end, as he was on his way to Ari's ballet recital, he died in a car accident.
