2 Prologue

When the elevator doors opened, it revealed Deilan, as expected. I stepped aside from the middle to the corner. I don't know why but when he went inside, the once spacious elevator felt tight, maybe because of his big frame compared to mine.

"Mara?" he gently called. My heart may have skipped a bit. I admit that him calling my name made be nervous but of course, I tried hard not to show it.

"Yes, Mr. Fabregas?" I replied. In my mind, I thanked the heavens because I didn't stutter.

"Let's not be to formal." he pointed out. I looked at our reflection on the door and saw that he was also looking at me so instead, I looked at the tiny monitor that tells us what floor are we in. "We had a relationship."

I mockingly chuckled after he said that.

'13 more floors and I am out of here.'

"We had a relationship." I repeated, emphasizing the word 'had'. My heart was aching but I forced myself to not mind it, I can't. "And from what I remembered, it didn't end well."

"Seven years and it's still you." he quietly answered. I felt angry and sad, also confused as to why I also felt a little happiness. I chuckled again, this time a bit louder. "And honestly, I don't think anyone can replace you."

"You said it was never me." I reminded him of the words he said years ago. I scoffed, feeling bitter.

"I lied."

"And so what? If you were really lying before, like what you're claiming, how can I say that you're not lying now?" I asked while smirking. Eleventh floor, I somehow felt that this lift is slower than others.

"I'll prove it." he arrogantly responded. He faced me, causing me to step backwards a little. "Give me a chance to prove it."

"Why would I?" I confidently asked him, holding my head high. Nervousness was the reason my heart is becoming louder and louder now. I sighed. "You can't expect me to come back running in to your arms again, Deilan."

"I'm not asking for that." he informed me. I raised a brow. "I'm asking you to give me a chance to prove myself, I'll court you again."

That's the possibility that mommy said last night. I didn't think that it would be possible, but it happened.

"I won't give you a chance, please don't bring this up anymore."
