Chapter 46 Risky

Boulevard felt sour listening to what the brothers said about him. He didn't want to be hated by the little male but he also needed to know the truth about them.

Fine. I'll not pursue this matter anymore but that's only because I've chosen to believe your brother. Rest early, we will take you around the colony tomorrow so that you can be of use during your stay." Boulevard huffed and walked over to his newly dug cave.

The sun came up early the next morning but Sydney slept in since she was extremely tired from the long journey. She woke up only to find that the cave was empty and she was the only person there. The outside seemed to be bustling with life. Her mind recalled the events of the previous night and sat up startled.

She checked herself to find that she was fine and nothing was out of place. A sigh left her lips and she got out of the stone bed. The place looked extremely dull with the rough cave surface and a skin on which she had slept.

Sounds of steps came close and Sydney jolted over to see Boulevard standing at the entrance. He was a handsome beastman who looked to be in his early thirties with a skin skirt wrapped around his waist loosely. He had a huge build that looked more intimidating. He stood at around 6'9ft at the least. He was extremely huge.

Boulevard who had come to see if the little male was okay was surprised to see the beautiful green eyes that seemed to be in a trance look at him. His heart leapt to his throat and he swallowed it back with alot of difficulty. He looked so soft and sweet!

Clearing his throat, he looked around the cave, "you are up?!" he asked

Yeah..is there something?!" Sydney asked after composing herself. She was intimidated by his frame.

You have a weak body." Boulevard possible pointed out. Your brothers hunted today's meal and said that you eat twice in a day. There's meat that I roasted for you. Come up and eat." Boulevard said and grasped Sydney's hand and dragged her out of the cave into the open.

The strong light blinded her eyes a little since the sun was already high up and stray beastmen were all over the place. Immediately, they looked her way and stared hard.

Don't mind them. Come and eat the meat. I've been keeping it hot ." Boulevard said nothing more and dragged her along. Sydney felt her wrist about to snap and frowned but said nothing about it. They walked around the colony unto the eating area which was empty but a small fire was kept lighting.

Helping her seat on a stone, Boulevard got the piece of meat off the fire and offered it to Sydney. Without saying anything, she took up the meat and ate it. It was fragrant and sweet like the one she ate in the previous night. However, she was smart enough not to drool this time round and ate responsibly.

Boulevard sat at the side and observed the soft looking male. He felt happy to see him eat everything happily.

"Do you still feel tired?!" he asked.

"Not really. I rested well ajd woke up to a nice meal so I'm energetic enough!" Sydney replied happily.

The sound of hurried footsteps rang out and Sydney looked over to see extremely agitated white lions racing her way. She froze in the action of chewing.

Boulevard sneered but said nothing. Was he so untrustworthy?! These idiots really!!!

Almost knocking Sydney over, eldest circled her to confirm that she was fine and unharmed. His erratic heartbeat calmed down but youngest was a different case. He was extremely annoyed with this tiger stray.

He growled at him in anger.

While they had been trying to become useful to the others in the colony, they left with a group unwillingly and only returned as soon as they could. What pissed them off was finding Sydney missing from her room and the scent of the annoying tiger was all over. Having spent the entire night rubbing out the scent of the tiger beastman, they were enraged when they found those traces again. They feared for the worst and ran about the colony like wild beasts.

"What's with your expressions?!" Sydney asked in confusion but her answers were answered with the clear hostility the brothers showed towards Boulevard.

Hey ..don't get agitated. I woke up and both of you had gone away. Boulevard was the only one there and he only brought me out to eat something. I'm really fine!" she explained.

Tell them to mind their manners! We can kill them if they don't behave and treat this like their territory." Boulevard hissed in displeasure. He was calmly enjoying his time with the little male only to he disrupted. He hated it and wished he could kill them! As a stray it was extremely rare for them to find interest in other things but now that he really liked his time with the little male, anyone who interrupted their time was obviously seeking death and he wouldn't hesitate to deliver it.

Sydney who had been explaining to the brothers was taken aback by what Boulevard said. She stiffly looked his way with wide eyes. Kill?! Was concern repaid with murder?! Boulevard's expression spoke volumes. He meant what he said!

Before Sydney could get to say anything, Boulevard stood up and left angrily. She was stumped and also a little afraid. He seemed like the cool kind of guy but she was now re-evaluating her previous conclusion.

She felt like the meat wasn't tasty anymore. She sighed. "I'm sorry I left without informing you where I was off to." She apologized and had the brothers sit down. Try needed to TALK! But it was also wrong of you to get angry! We are not in our home and you know that! Right?! I told you these guys are dangerous and we should be on our best behaviour! If we had met some other group, we would have been killed without question! But we got lucky and met fair beastmen so we should not anger them or show tempers. They'll hurt you and that'll mean that you've left me on my own! I'd rather you stayed back at the cave and be happy than come here with me and end up dead!"

Youngest whined. He was the most agitated and most protective one. He flamed the flames of his brother's anger and drove the two into an anger outburst. They had been anger driven that they hadn't thought of the consequences. Now that they heard Sydney say it, they felt that she was telling the truth.

While they were out to snatch females this morning, though it had been unsuccessful, the brothers saw how vicious the beastmen they had followed had been as they killed those from the small village nearby. It was a gruesome sight that left them with their intestines in a twist. With only one thought in mind, they had to go back to Sydney as soon as possible but it all fell when they didn't find her in the cave.

They thought the worst of everything and lost control.

Youngest whined and slumped by Sydney's side. His heart was now at ease. She also ran her hands through his while mane as it had grown a norm for her to do so absent-minded.

Can the two of you please try not to agitate these beastmen during our stay here?! I'm going to return the favour we owe them and make sure we leave as soon as possible. While you go out with the others to scout, can you find a path we can use to get out of here, if possible, try to locate another settlement that we can go to once we leave this place."

Sydney planned out their escape route as she felt that they wouldn't be able to stay here for long. Her gut feeling told her things would be gettig out of control soon despite not knowing what exactly could go wrong.

…...

The forest bed was covered with snakes that kept slithering in all possible directions in search for their lord's female. It had been a day and night but they hadn't gotten any news. They felt like shading their skin in fear of their Lord who kept sending signals inquiring about any findings.

------------ The group of five was now miles and miles away from the beast city and had gone through a lot of tribes, both big and small in search. Hope had begun to fade but none of them showed their worry. With stoic expressions and Titan and Ash by their side, they had no trouble commanding the different tribes to present all their female's to be checked.

"One of us should have mated with her! That would have been easier for us to find her but...it's been days now!! I worry if she's still alive!" Ken couldn't keept the frustration anymore and spoke up. His heart felt like it had been clenched so hard that he couldn't breathe. He was barely hanging on.

"If you have nothing better to say then please don't agitate us as well! Sydney is a fighter and we are going to find her! We've not yet gone across the whole beast Continent and hence she can be anywhere! Let's keep searching for her, even if we have to flip this place all over to find her!" Caden growled with displeasure. He was already suffocated and hearing these words only made him die a trillion deaths

Titan and Ash returned with solemn expressions. Another day and there was no news.

Let's raid the stray colonies! She could be there!" Ken suggested.

We can't! For all we know and hope is that she isn't in their hands. But if they figure out a female is in the loose and on her own, they'll go on a hunting spree and we might not be able to get to her on time. Let's keep up with our pace and not alert those mad beastmen!" Ash rebuked Ken's idea. He had also initially thought of that but later decided against it.

Caden nodded in agreement. It was risky!
