110 CHPT 110: A Chance at Power

"Class dismissed. Everyone please remember to study over the bits of the chapter we covered and if you have any questions you know where to find me." Prof. Alvis said, signifying the end of class.

Claude had spent the whole class side eyeing Det. Cyrene to make sure she didn't try anything while also silently panicking about how soon the full moon was. Now his most recent problem if he survived would be not transforming at the very public Halloween Festival— which would be incredibly ironic before he abruptly and violently met his demise at the hands of the dozens of skilled Professors.

But Det. Cyrene is bound to be stalking him for the whole day of the festival like a panther, just waiting for him to transform under the full moon so her silver blade can slice him to pieces. Not to mention, the twins, who seem to have no idea of what they are unless their self appointed Alpha telepathically tells them. All in all, he realized he had no idea what he was getting himself into until the date of the full moon brought a certain level of realism to it all.

"Fuck." He groaned as he got up, anxious to get out of the cramped classroom.

"[Claude, everything's going to be fine as long as you relax and begin planning now.]" Arne said as Claude headed for the door and away from Det. Cyrene.

"Right, I just need a pl—"

"Clauuuude, you forgot your backpack and notes." Det. Cyrene interrupted, drawing his name out eerily.

Claude could practically feel Prof. Alvis shaking at his desk as he headed back to retrieve his things.

She stood with her backside against the table in a relaxed position to attempt to look carefree in his presence. In her hands, she held his backpack and papers of notes.

"Erhm....thanks." Claude said before taking the backpack out of her hands and shrugging it on. He then went to grab his notes and was met with the sound of paper being pulled taut as Det. Cyrene resisted against his pull.

"What are you doing?" He said angrily before looking into her violent black eyes, getting a fresh wave of excited fear in response.

"Your ink." She replied.

"What?"

"Over areas concerning the full moon, your ink is written deeper into the page with shaky penmanship and even bleeds through— indicating an increase of emotions and feelings as you wrote about the subject. But when we discussed the sun, you missed entire talking points and wrote with barely enough force to indent the page. I find that interesting, is there a reason your focused on the moon, Claude?" She asked smugly.

"[Fucking Detectives.]" Arne snarled.

"I have a PitWolf who recently hit Adulthood that I'm worried about." Claude responded before snatching the paper, surprising both Arne and the Detective.

"Have a good day, Prof. Alvis." Claude said as he exited the classroom.

Prof. Alvis did little more than look up shakily from his notes.

Claude rushed down the hallway with the final stampede of students heading to their next classes fading away ahead of him. He urgently placed the notes in the safest and most secure section of his bag to ensure their safety.

Most of the material he was given in class he knew, but the things he didn't often lacked significance with it being the beginning of the year and all. But, today was different— in many ways.

In that lesson, he learned something that could increase his understanding of the Lupines and in the future, increase his power.

He knew it all came down to the moon for Lupines and Werewolves, he just didn't know how it worked, but today sparked a flame of ideas to spread in his mind.

Being Reborn wasn't just about awakening your combat potential and being given a Class, it's also when your body becomes capable of absorbing and manipulating the different forms of magic that played a part in wiping out the tech of the old world— leaving the humans in an advanced form of the Metal Age.

The MP stat is the average amount of different forms of magic you can manipulate and bend to your will, but not all forms of magic are available to everyone— or humans in general. That's where Solar and Lunar Magic come into play. Both the Sun and Moon generate huge amounts of magic and ambient energy that affects different beings and areas on earth.

The use of the Sun, or Solar Magic is very rare due to the humans increased exposure to it, over time they've become numbed by its power. Only a small number of talented Heroes are able to use its magic to empower themselves and their Elements like the Red Knight of Rage, Rory Legrand who can release it from his body and change the biomes of entire Tangents. It's also been used by Wind users, creating Solar Winds which function like invisible fire with the capacity to incinerate hundreds in seconds. It's power is widely unknown due to its rarity and also widely respected due to its legend.

In contrast, Lunar Magic is the enemy of man. When night falls and the pale full moon finds its place among the stars, its magic feeds into the predatory and primitive minds of animals all over, urging them to plunge into a frenzy and become wild lunatics. After being brutally mauled and hunted by moon crazed animals for so long, humans have learned to stay inside and adopted a mindset of paranoid hysteria when the haunting white predator's beacon rises. Although it's less severe in some, it affects everyone.

Now with being a Lupine, Claude's developed a hypothesis that Lunar Magic feeds the animal in him until its left with nothing to do but burst from his skin and continue to be influenced by its power— Arne supported his ideas by vaguely quoting something the man that changed him said. But the most important part was, his racial abilities also said Lunar Empowerment, meaning he could possibly learn to use Lunar Magic and become incredibly powerful whenever the moon was out. He just had to make sure he didn't lose his mind every full moon.

"I have to learn control." He told himself as he rushed to pick up Frosty for his final class, Training.
